Congress and MBT demands action against police sub-inspector for attacking girl on RTC bus

Hyderabad, May 10: The Congress party has strongly condemned the brutal attack on a young girl by a police sub-inspector in Telangana over a small dispute regarding a seat on an RTC bus.

The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday afternoon, when the girl and her mother got into an argument with SI Anil of Jagtial Rural Police Station over a seat on a Jagtial-bound bus. The situation escalated when the sub-inspector chased the bus and stopped it near the Jagitial Bus Depot, where he allegedly snatched the girl’s phone, purse, and other belongings after physically attacking her.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minorities Dept Shaik Abdullah Sohail demanded stern action against the sub-inspector, who reportedly went overboard to settle a personal dispute involving his wife. He expressed concern over the rising incidents of police officials taking the law into their own hands and attacking citizens, especially girls, without any fear of consequences.

Abdullah Sohail also expressed concern about the rising communal hatred against a particular community by the police force. In this case, the sub-inspector allegedly targeted the girl because she was wearing a ‘burkha’. He demanded that the Telangana Police take strict action against the sub-inspector to prove its neutrality and ensure that the police force functions in a neutral manner without discriminating against people on the basis of religion or caste.

The Congress leader has criticized the local police for initially refusing to register a case against the sub-inspector, despite the victim lodging a complaint and waiting at the police station until midnight. He emphasized that it was only after opposition parties protested against the incident that the Jagtial police registered a case.

Abdullah Sohail has urged the top police officials to warn their officials against engaging in public misbehaviour and to take strict action against any officer who violates the law or violates citizens’ rights. He called for a transparent and impartial investigation into this incident to ensure that justice is served. Amjed Ullah Khan (Spokesman) MBT writes to Sri K Chandrashekar Rao, Cheif Minister, Govt of Telangana demanding arrest and dismissal from service Mr Anil, Sub-Inspector of Police, Rural Police Station, Jagtial for misbehaving, attacking, and outraging the modesty of a muslim woman and also using un-parliamentary & filthy language against Islam and its followers.
