Two military facilities occupied by American forces in Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah have come under separate attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles.
Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network, citing local sources speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that an explosive-laden drone targeted the US-run facility at Kharab al-Jir military base in the Yarubiyah district of the province on Sunday.
There were no immediate reports about the extent of damage at the military installation, and possible casualties.
This came shortly after another combat drone struck the US military base in the oil-rich town of Rumeilan.
Earlier, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, in a statement published on its Telegram channel claimed responsibility for the drone strike on al-Harir Air Base, situated 45 kilometers (27.9 miles) north of the Erbil International Airport, on Saturday evening.
The group noted that the airstrike was carried out in retaliation for US support of Israel’s bloody war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for most of the dozens of recent attacks against US occupation forces in Iraq and Syria, saying they were carried out in retaliation for US support of Israel’s war on Gaza.
The US House of Representatives on November 2 passed a standalone $14.3-billion military assistance package for Israel. The legislation, however, is yet to clear the Senate.
Washington, which has backed Tel Aviv’s ferocious attacks on Gaza as a means of “self-defense,” has also been casting its veto against the United Nations Security Council resolutions that called on the occupying regime to cease its aggression.
Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on Gaza strip, including hospitals, residences, and houses of worship, since Palestinian resistance movements launched their surprise attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the regime on October 7.
At least 21,672 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed. Another 65,165 individuals have sustained injuries as well.
