US President Joe Biden is set to visit to Israel to show support for Tel Aviv as Washington has pledged more military assistance to the occupying regime.
At the end of hours of talks with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday.
“The president will hear from Israel what it needs to defend its people as we continue to work with Congress to meet those needs,” Blinken said.
His remarks come as the Biden administration is pushing for congressional approval for a new weapons aid package for Israel and Ukraine.
The US has already sent two aircraft carriers to the eastern Mediterranean to support the Israeli regime in its all-out war against Gaza.
Blinken said Biden would also “hear from Israel how it will conduct its operations.”
Biden’s West Asia tour will also include a visit to Jordan to meet King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority.
Israel is reportedly planning a ground invasion of Gaza that could ignite a regional war amid intensified clashes between Hezbollah resistance movement and Israeli forces along the fence separating the occupied territories from Lebanon.
The Israeli military claimed on Tuesday it had killed four people who had allegedly tried to cross the fence to plant explosives.
Palestinian resistance dealt a heavy blow to the Israeli regime and its ally US when it fired missiles at Tel Aviv and al-Quds on Monday, triggering air raid warning sirens that forced Blinken and Netanyahu to hide in bunkers.
The missiles also sent Israeli lawmakers into shelters at the Knesset. The rockets were fired amid rising Israeli threats to eradicate Hamas and the Palestinian nation.
On October 7, Palestinians resistance movement Hamas launched the al-Aqsa Storm operation against Israel in response to the occupying regime’s decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.
The Israeli bombing campaign on Gaza killed more than 2,800 people, many of whom children and women, and injured nearly 10,000 others.
Israel has also cut off fuel, water, energy, and food supplies to the coastal strip, which is home to over two million Palestinians and has already been suffering under a 16-year-old Israeli blockade.
The Israeli strikes have driven around half of the Gazans from their homes, according to the United Nations.
