Biden vows ‘rock solid’ support for Israeli onslaught on Gaza

US President Joe Biden has pledged unwavering support for the Israeli regime after the Gaza-based Palestinian resistance launched a large-scale operation in the occupied territories.

In a phone call with the Israeli regime’s embattled prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden offered his “rock solid” support for the regime.

In recent months, Biden has had shaky relations with Netanyahu over his extreme policies.

In a televised address from the White House, Biden claimed, “In my administration, support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering. We’ll make sure that they have the help their citizens need and they can continue to defend themselves.”

“We stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the government and people of Israel,” Biden added.

The US president also warned against the escalation of the fighting into a wider conflict, saying, “This is not a moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks to seek advantage. The world is watching.”

Biden claimed Israel — which the United States has supplied with hundreds of billions of dollars worth of arms and munitions over decades to suppress Palestinians — has “a right to defend itself.”

Meanwhile, a senior Biden administration official told reporters that the United States was working with other governments to make sure the crisis does not spread and is contained to Gaza.

Media reports said on Saturday that discussions between the US and Israeli regime military officials were already underway at senior levels and an announcement by Washington was expected on Sunday.

US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, reiterated Biden’s support for the Israeli regime, saying he “will work to ensure that Israel has what it needs.”

In a related development, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas and “called on all leadership in the region to condemn” the operation by Hamas.

Also, former US president Donald Trump blamed Biden for the Palestinian operation, claiming that the Democratic president indirectly funded the campaign.

“These Hamas attacks are a disgrace and Israel has every right to defend itself with overwhelming force,” Trump said in a statement.

“Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden administration.”
