Palestinian resistance factions have organized a rally in the blockaded Gaza Strip to mark the 23rd anniversary of the al-Aqsa Intifada. Also known as the Second Intifada, it was sparked by the desecration of Islam’s third holiest shrine, the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, by then Israeli prime minister, Ariel Sharon.
