Hyderabad: Fire broke out in an apartment complex in Mirchowk in the older part of the city, leading to panic in the surroundings on Friday.
None was injured in the fire mishap and a short circuit is suspected to be the reason for the fire.
Fire service personnel fought for over two hours to control the leaping flames with much difficulty.
According to the police, fire erupted and quickly spread to the whole flat and a family residing in it was trapped in the flames that engulfed the surrounding. The residents started screaming for help as the fire quickly spread.
On receiving information, the local police and the fire department personnel reached the spot and the residents of the house managed to escape as the flames swept through the house in the joint operation by the forces.
Panicked residents of apartments on other floors and in other blocks rushed out as leaping flames quickly engulfed the apartment.
Though there were no fatalities, but the incident caused extensive damage to the apartment. The police are investigating the cause of fire and the estimation of the property which was damaged.
