Woman Among 3 Arrested For Killing Noida Contractor Over Alleged Affair

The body bore injury marks around its neck, leading to a suspicion of murder.

Noida:

Three people, including a woman, were arrested here on Tuesday for allegedly killing a 57-year-old contractor inside his house, police said.

The police said the victim, Shashi Sharma, was allegedly in an illicit relationship with the wife of the key accused who was in good terms with him until two years ago.

According to the police, Mr Sharma’s body was found inside his rented accommodation in the Janata Flats in Sector 40 on Monday morning. The body bore injury marks around its neck, leading to a suspicion of murder.

DCP (Noida) Harish Chander said three accused, identified as Bharat Chauhan, his wife Seema Devi and Raja Tiwari, have been arrested for the alleged murder by a team led by ACP Rajneesh Verma.

“During investigation it came to light that Bharat and Sharma had come in contact in 2021, and both started living in the same neighbourhood. However, after sometime the same year, Bharat once found Sharma and his wife in an objectionable condition at his house. Later, he relocated to another house,” Mr Chander told reporters.

“Recently Bharat came to know that his wife and Sharma are still in contact, after which he confronted his wife who apologised for her actions,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, Bharat had started a tea shop and came in touch with Tiwari who studies at a private university in Noida. Tiwari visited Bharat’s stall regularly and the two became friends.

Bharath planned revenge on Mr Sharma and the other accused also came on board, according to the police.

On Sunday, the trio reached Mr Sharma’s residence and they discussed the matter, during which an argument broke out and Mr Sharma allegedly slapped Seema after which the three got together and slit his throat, the police said.

Indian Student, 24, Stabbed In US Gym, Has "Zero To 5% Chance Of Survival"

Indian Student, 24, Stabbed In US Gym, Has 'Zero To 5% Chance Of Survival'

Washington:

A 24-year-old Indian student has been stabbed in the US state of Indiana and is said to be in a critical condition, according to a media report.

Varun was stabbed with a knife into the temple by the assailant Jordan Andrad, 24, at a public gym in the Valparaiso city of Indiana on Sunday morning for reasons that the authorities are still investigating, reported NWIU Times.

Following the incident, the attacker was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

“Varun was attacked with a knife by his attacker. He was ultimately taken to a Fort Wayne hospital due to the severity of his injury and was reportedly given a zero to five per cent chance of survival. Varun’s condition is said to be serious after the violent attack,” the report said.

The attacker Andrade told the police that he had requested a massage that morning and walked into the massage room to find the other man, whom he did not know but found “a little weird.” Determining the other man posed a threat, Andrade said he made sure to react the “right way,” according to a charging document.

“Andrade then described (the man) as a threat to him so he, ‘just reacted,'” police said.

US base in eastern Syria targeted again

Some media outlets reported that the explosions were caused by fresh rocket attacks targeting the US base.

Local sources say that the operation has been successfully carried out despite the full readiness of American bases in eastern Syria.

Arab media outlets on early Tuesday reported that the United States’ Ain al-Assad base in Iraq was attacked.

Minutes later, an Iraqi Resistance group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that it was conducted using two unmanned aircraft.

After the martyrdom of Resistance commanders who led the anti-terrorism fight in Iraq and Syria, the Iraqi parliament approved a piece of legislation to call for the withdrawal of American troops from the country, a demand that the US troops have yet to meet.

Meanwhile, local sources in Syria reported that the US base in the Conoco gas field was targeted with two missiles.

The reports added that a US-led coalition’s base in Syria’s al-Omar oil field has also come under missile attack.

In reaction to US support for the Israeli regime in the Gaza war, the Resistance groups have repeatedly targeted the positions of American forces in recent days.

"If I Say It Doesn't Make Difference…": Pak Star On Defeat Against India

A thumping seven-wicket win over Bangladesh has certainly uplifted the mood in Pakistan’s camp and opener Fakhar Zaman on Tuesday said they’re firmly focused on making the semifinals, despite all the ifs and buts. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi led the pace attack brilliantly to bowl out Bangladesh for a paltry 204 before they cantered home in 32.3 overs to hugely boost their net run-rate.

“Every win in the World Cup, gives you confidence. We also waited for this win,” Zaman said at the post-match media interaction.

“We have now started to find our rhythm. Against South Africa, we made comebacks while batting as well as bowling.

“We are getting our combinations right. I’ve been part of this dressing room for eight years now, it will improve further,” he said.

Making a comeback after five matches, Fakhar struck a 74-ball 81 and laid the foundation with Abdullah Shafique (68) in a 128-run opening stand. It made it a straightforward chase for Pakistan as they looked in a hurry to seal the target.

“The situation we are in at the moment, we were looking to chase it in 29-30 overs. Ifs and buts will be there, but our target is semifinal and we will try for that only,” he said.

The win saw Pakistan snap their four-match losing streak and move past Afghanistan into fifth place on net run-rate with six points.

They now have to win against New Zealand and England in their last two games to get to 10 points and hope that at least one of New Zealand or Australia slip in the points table losing two or more games.

Down with a niggle, Zaman had to sit out for five matches after their World Cup opener against the Netherlands.

“The injury was not that severe and I had to sit out for precaution. If team needed me, I would have played. Today I got a chance, and did my best in team’s win.” Zaman said he’s hungry for more such knocks.

“The way I’m playing at the nets I’ve a fair idea that the ball is coming well on bat. On Indian wickets, the key is to hang around for three-four overs and then it becomes easy to score runs. The boundaries are also short. I want to perform similarly in next matches, so that we make semis.” He further said the bowlers have now aced the conditions in India.

“If you spend time in the middle you get an idea, initially our pacers were trying for more but the key here is accuracy,” he said.

Asked if Pakistan’s loss against India still hurt them, he said: “Of course, an India and Pakistan match is a very big deal. If I say it doesn’t make a difference, I would be wrong.

“But all the players are professional and have played a lot of cricket. Even against India, they have played a lot of matches. So, you can’t say anything like that.”

US directly supporting Israeli regime's crimes in Palestine

Wishing success for the Lebanese Hezbollah movement in dealing with enemies, Velayati slammed the US officials’ remarks who said that if Israel didn’t exist, they would have to invent it.

“We are sure that the people of Palestine and Gaza will win this critical and breathtaking battle,” he stressed.

Sheikh Naim Qassem, for his part, hailed the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran over supporting the Resistance front, saying that Resistance forces will continue to fight the enemies until crushing them.
