Hyderabad: To mitigate the threat of Remote Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices (RCIED), high-powered Vehicle Mounted Jammers (VMJs) developed by Hyderabad-based Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), were deployed in the VVIP motorcades by the Delhi Police in the recent international G20 summit.
The VMJs supplied by ECIL were successfully deployed as part of VVIP motorcades. In addition, ECIL make Smart Anti Drone Jammers with detection facility were also deployed at Bharat Madapam, the site of G20 summit.
Deployment of Smart Jammers ensured all round protection of G 20 meeting venue against any threat emanating from Drones.
Devices such as mobile phones, drones, citizen frequency band radios etc. can be used to trigger such RCIEDs. To mitigate this threat Vehicle Mounted Jammers (VMJs), generally referred to as convey jammers were supplied to Delhi Police by ECIL, the press release said.
Over the years, ECIL has made great strides in the security sector by developing expertise over a wide range of products spanning detection, protection and mitigation aspects of the security solution encompassing perimeter protection, video surveillance with advance analytics, personnel access control, vehicle access control, explosive detection, fire alarm, CBRN protection, personnel / baggage and container scanners technologies, the release added,
“What should we do about it? Certainly not impose tit-for-tat retaliatory restrictions on EU citizens. We are not racists, in contrast to many leaders of those countries whose relatives served in the SS (Schutzstaffel, the notorious paramilitary organization under Germany’s Nazi regime), he said.
“Moreover, those [Europeans] who travel here usually have a love and appreciation for Russia. It would be better just to suspend diplomatic relations with the EU for a while. And to call our diplomatic personnel home,” Medvedev suggested, commenting on the European Commission’s clarification on the EU’s ban on importing automobiles, smartphones, suitcases and shampoo, among an entire range of items, into the EU from Russia, even for strictly personal use.
Medvedev mockingly “praised” the EU leaders, calling them “straightforward and honest Brussels bosses” who “told all Russians directly and without beating around the bush: you are second-class people for us.” And the EU’s decision is clearly not meant as just punishment for what Brussels sees as the “criminal and aggressive regime in the Kremlin.”
Rather, “this is a spit in the face of every citizen of Russia,” Medvedev emphasized.
In suggesting measures to suspend Moscow’s diplomatic relations with the EU, Medvedev noted that only such a move could make Brussels officials truly afraid, “because embassies are [traditionally] evacuated before certain very specific events.”
“Who knows what else these ‘orcs’ from that immense ‘Mordor’ are capable of?” Medvedev asked sarcastically, using a common derogatory slur used in the West to refer to Russia and Russians, equating them to the goblin-like humanoid creatures in J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novel “The Lord of the Rings.”
The European Commission’s clarification dated September 8 bans the import from Russia to the EU of goods listed in Annex 21 to EU Regulation No. 833/2014, regardless of the purpose of their use and the duration of stay in the EU, including cars with less than 10 seats. The EC emphasized that it does not matter whether the vehicles are being used for private or commercial purposes. The list contains a wide range of all sorts of items from cellular telephones and audio and video recording devices, to suitcases, hold-alls, articles of clothing, toothpaste, shampoo and other hygiene products.
Officials in the Iraqi government denied reports that the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had been canceled, confirming that its date has not yet been determined, Asharq Al-Awsat reported.
According to Iraqi lawmakers, Turkey sent indirect messages that the escalating dispute between the governments of Baghdad and Erbil over the budget, salaries, and oil exports does not provide a suitable political climate for Erdogan’s visit.
Nevertheless, a senior Iraqi official confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that Baghdad continues to prepare for Erdogan’s visit.
The sources indicated that the dispute over exporting oil has not been resolved with Turkey yet.
Last March, Iraq won the case against Turkey after a years-long struggle over oil exports from the Iraqi Kurdistan region. At that time, the Turkish port workers banned any cargo ship carrying oil from the Kurdistan region, according to Reuters.
The Turkish government stipulated that Baghdad must relinquish the case and exempt Ankara from the $2.6 billion compensation to resume exporting oil.
Turkey filed a lawsuit demanding other compensation from Baghdad amounting to more than $900 million.
Iraqi sources described the issue as very thorny, and the two parties could not resolve it even after Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited Baghdad.
Baghdad is not in a position that allows it to continue to stop oil exports due to financial obligations, so it is trying to find common ground with Turkish officials to resume the export of Kurdish oil.

Oil prices hit a 10-month high of nearly USD 90 per barrel as Saudi Arabia and Russia extended their voluntary production and export cuts until the end of the year
Updated On – 08:06 PM, Wed – 6 September 23
New Delhi: Oil prices hit a 10-month high of nearly USD 90 per barrel as Saudi Arabia and Russia extended their voluntary production and export cuts until the end of the year.
For a nation that is more than 85 per cent dependent on imports for its oil needs, the surge in prices means India will have to shell out more and the prospect of returning to market-driven petrol and diesel prices in the near future diminished further.
Brent crude prices surged around 6.5 per cent over the past week after Saudi Arabia, which leads the expanded OPEC+ cartel with Russia, decided to keep its one million barrels a day reduction in supplies to the global market until the end of December.
Russia has added its own voluntary export cuts in recent months.
The move has led to Brent rising above USD 90 a barrel for the first time this year on Tuesday. On Wednesday, it was trading at USD 89.67 per barrel.
The basket of crude oil that India imports has averaged USD 89.81 per barrel this month, up from USD 86.43 in August, according to oil ministry data.
The Indian basket was hovering in the range of USD 73-75 per barrel in May and June, rekindling hopes for a return to market-based pricing and a reduction in petrol and diesel prices.
But rates spurt to USD 80.37 per barrel in July and now to near USD 90.
“Public sector oil companies had been recouping losses they incurred for holding rates when crude oil prices shot through the roof last year. In May, international oil prices and retail pump rates had come at par.
“But now with the prices rising, the difference between cost and retail prices will reappear,” an industry official said.
India imports 85 per cent of its oil needs and its fuel pricing is indexed to international rates.
Petrol and diesel prices have been on a freeze for a record 17 months in a row. Petrol costs Rs 96.72 per litre in the national capital and diesel comes for Rs 89.62 a litre.
State-owned fuel retailers are supposed to revise petrol and diesel prices daily based on a 15-day rolling average of benchmark international fuel prices but they haven’t done that since April 6, 2022.
Prices were last changed on May 22 when the government cut excise duty to give relief to consumers from a spike in retail rates that followed a surge in international oil prices.
Sources said if international oil prices had stayed around USD 73-74 a barrel range, oil companies would have re-started daily price revision.
Higher prices would mean domestic producers like the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) get a higher price. However, the incremental revenues are likely to be ploughed by the government in the form of a windfall profit tax.
The tax, levied in the form of Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED), on domestically produced crude oil was reduced to Rs 6,700 per tonne starting September 2, from Rs 7,100 a tonne previously.
A windfall tax is levied on domestic crude oil if rates of the global benchmark rise above USD 75 per barrel.
Crude oil pumped out of the ground and from below the seabed is refined and converted into fuels like petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel.

Sayak Mukhopadhyay was arrested at the Arthur Ashe Stadium after disrupting for about 50 minutes the US Open tennis match between American Coco Gauff and Czech Karolina Muchova

New York: An Indian-origin man, who glued his feet to the stadium floor in a dramatic climate protest at the US Open, has said that it was a way of conveying the message directly to the people as other methods have been effective.
Sayak Mukhopadhyay was arrested at the Arthur Ashe Stadium after disrupting for about 50 minutes the US Open tennis match between American Coco Gauff and Czech Karolina Muchova on September 7.
He and two others from the group Extinction Rebellion NYC stood up shouting “No tennis on a dead planet”, and “End fossil fuels” before he removed his shoes and glued his feet to the floor making it difficult for police to remove him.
He told the New York Post: “The climate change movement has tried everything from writing and lobbying for legislation to demonstrating and blockading banks, but none of that has been as effective as communicating directly to the public by going to public institutions like museums and sporting arenas.”
Gauff, who defeated Muchova in that game and went on to win the US Open, said a news conference that she couldn’t get “too mad” at the antic because “it was done in a peaceful way”.
“I believe in climate change,” she said. Mukhopadhyay was charged with trespassing, according to the New York Police Department. It said in a statement that the department’s Emergency Service Unit personnel were able to “safely free him” and arrest him.
He was released with a notice to appear in court.
According to an Extinction Rebellion NYC post on X social media, 50-year-old Mukhopadhyay moved to New York from his native Kolkata 25 years ago.
It quoted him as saying that he was horrified by the climate injustice faced by people in India who have to pay the price for the climate change caused by emissions produced by developed countries.
“India is something I constantly think about because I grew up there and I am keenly aware of how low the level of resource consumption and energy consumption is there,” he said.
But the people of the Gangetic Delta are the ones “going to pay the price for this huge amount of resources and energy consumption in the global north”, he added.
The group organises sensational protests about climate change.
It announced that it is holding on Sunday a naked bicycle procession “to end fossil fuels”.
