Nalgonda: Minister for Health T Harish Rao on said that there was no home in the State that was not receiving the benefits of any welfare scheme of the state government and no village without achieving development in the last nine years.

Distributing Rs 8.6 crore worth cheques to women of 86 Self Help Groups (SHGs) at a programme held at Nakrekal here, Harish Rao said that the welfare schemes and development programmes taken up by BRS government have bettered the living conditions of the people and improved amenities in urban and local areas in the state.

He cited Kalyana Lakshmi, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema, free power to the agriculture sector and residential schools for poor students of different sections as examples for it.

He said that the crop of the yasangi season did not get into the hands of the farmers without a short circuit of their motor pumpsets due to low voltage during the earlier Congress government. The farmers were forced to spend Rs 5,000 each time when their motor pumpset was damaged due to low voltage.

Recollecting on the pathetic conditions that prevailed in Telangana before the formation of a separate state, he said that the people migrated to Andhra areas for labor work before formation of Telangana state. Now, farmers of Telangana are providing work to migrant workers from other states including Bihar, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh. The pro-agriculture policies of the state government have created such a situation in the state, he added.

Stating that just six hours electricity was supplied to agriculture sector during the earlier Congress government, he said that voting for Congress in the next elections would become nothing but accepting the statement of TPCC president A Revanth Reddy that three hours power supply to agriculture per day was enough.

After coming to understand that farmers, women, old aged and disabled persons stood with BRS, the Congress leaders came out with six guarantees, which were not possible to implement to get votes in the elections. He questioned as to why Congress was not implementing those six guarantees in the states being ruled by its government.

He said that a 100-bed hospital at Nakrekal would be inaugurated in one or two months and 30 doctors would be available to extend medical services. He said that the Brahmanavellemla project would be filled with Krishna water after Nagarjuna Sagar Project received water.

Stating that the political tricks and gimmicks of both Congress and BJP would not work, he said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao would score a hat trick by retaining the post.

Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said that elections notification for elections to Telangana State Legislative Assembly may be released in a week and elections may be conducted within two months.

The leaders of Congress, which neglected the development of Telangana, would again come to the people for votes with false promises. He asked the people to teach a lesson to the Congress in the next elections. Earlier, Harish Rao also laid foundation stone for a 30 bed hospital at Ramannapet and Aitipamula lift irrigation scheme in Kattangur mandal in the district.

Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, MLC M Koti Reddy, Nalgonda Zilla Parishad Chairman Banda Narender Reddy and Telangana State Sheep Development Corporation Chairman Dudimetla Balaraj were also present at the meeting.

Senior cleric urges for stepped-up unity in Islamic community

During the Friday Prayers sermon here in the Iranian capital today, the provisional prayers leader Hujjat al-Islam Kazem Sediqi hailed President Ebrahim Raeisi for holding up a copy of holy Qur’an during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly address, saying “The Qur’an is a civilization-building, human-building [book], and a source for unity, and the president held it up [in his hands] in the United Nations as a light and a flag.”

This week is the Unity Week [in Iran] and we cannot live without unity,” Sediqi noted.

On the initiative of Imam Khomeini, Rabi al-Awwal, 12 to 17 (October 9 to 14) was named Unity Week. Based on the Sunni Muslims’ narration, 12 Rabi ul Awwal is the birthday of the Grand Prophet of Islam Muhammad (PBUH), and based on Shia Muslims’ narration, 17 Rabi ul Awwal is the birthday of the Prophet.

He urged all Muslims, even though they are in different countries, to maintain unity and rise a flag of unity.

The senior cleric went on to note that “The reason for the unity of Muslims is their love for the Prophet, their belief in the same Qibla and the Qur’an.”

“One of the things that destroys unity is Satan, and the Holy Qur’an defines Satan as the source of differences and divisions. In today’s world, the great devil is America while the source of the division of Britain. Britain and America create war and they created the borders and created small countries and with some issues and some exaggerations they cause these borders to differ.

"The Higher The Position…": Vice President's Swipe At Ashok Gehlot

'The Higher The Position...': Vice President's Swipe At Ashok Gehlot

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and wife Sudesh Dhankhar in Rajasthan

New Delhi:

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has some advice for Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who has been questioning the Vice President’s frequent visit to the Congress-ruled state where the assembly election will be held soon.

At an election campaign in Rajasthan’s Neemrana, Mr Gehlot had objected to the Vice President’s visit to five districts since the election is near and the visit would “send all kinds of message, which is not good for democracy.”

“Politicians should come, but please do not send the Vice President; it is a constitutional post. We respect the President and the Vice President. Yesterday the Vice President came and visited five districts. It is election season. If you come now it will send all kinds of message which is not good for democracy,” Mr Gehlot told a gathering in Neemrana.

Vice President Dhankhar in an apparent response to Mr Gehlot said those in high positions should use responsible words.

“The higher the position a person holds, the more dignified his conduct should be. Making any comment to gain political advantage is not a good thing. I call upon everyone to be responsible when it comes to constitutional institutions,” the Vice President said.

The Vice President said it is a matter of “contemplation and concern that some people make indecent comments on constitutional institutions, wearing political glasses.”

“They should not do this; such behaviour is against our cultural heritage,” he said. “We must not look at constitutional functionaries with a political prism to score political points. That is not acceptable,” he added.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had also asked Mr Gehlot whether the Vice President needs to take the Chief Minister’s permission for visiting Rajasthan.

“For the Vice President, the Chief Minister said why is he coming now? So the Vice President will come after getting permission from him?” Mr Meghwal told reporters in Jaipur on Thursday.

Mr Gehlot is on an intensive campaign across Rajasthan, touching 18 districts and heading into 38 constituencies. It’s also a part of “Mission 2030” outreach where Mr Gehlot is talking about his vision for Rajasthan till 2030.

Mr Gehlot strategy has a soft Hindutva subtext as he will also visit important temples during this campaign. His schedule shows he will visit at least 10 prominent and local temples during the third leg of this nine-day campaign before the election code kicks in.

Iran’s president condemns twin bombings in Pakistan

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has condemned terrorist bombings at two mosques in Pakistan, saying Tehran is firmly ready to counter extremism in all its forms.

At least 57 people were killed and more than 60 injured in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan on Friday.

The bombings were carried out near a mosque in Mastung city as people were gathering to celebrate the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

There has been no claim of responsibility for the blasts.

In a message to Pakistani President Arif Alvi on Friday, Raeisi said the “blind” action once again showed the terrorists, who have no understanding of the merciful teachings of Islam, pursue “no goal but to sow discord among Muslims.”

“However, this time they will also fail to achieve their illegitimate and inhumane objectives.”

The Iranian president condemned the “terrorist, anti-religious and anti-human” move and expressed his sympathy and condolences to his Pakistani counterpart and the Muslim nation of the country.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is resolutely ready to cooperate with Pakistan in the fight against any form of terrorism and extremism,” Raeisi said.

He urged the international community, especially the Muslim countries, to “seriously react to this criminal act and prevent the recurrence of such bitter events.”

The Iranian president expressed hope the perpetrators would be identified and punished as soon as possible.

Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani also condemned the acts of terrorism and said the attacks are “a clear example of terrorists’ aloofness from the merciful teachings of the Prophet of Islam”.

Over the past few months, Mastung has been the scene of frequent acts of violence linked to nationalists and separatists.

Earlier this month, at least 11 people, including religious leader Hafiz Hamdullah, were injured in a blast in the same district. Before that, a tax official was gunned down at a bus stand by unidentified men who also wounded two bystanders.

Visakhapatnam: City cyber crime police have arrested 11 persons in connection with cricket betting through online apps and freezed Rs.75 lakh out of the Rs.367 crore transactions done through 63 bank accounts.

Informing this to media persons here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police K. Srinivasa Rao said the cricket betting gang was traced after a victim Yerra Satthibabu lodged a complaint in `Spandana’ programme 20 days ago saying that he was cheated to the tune of Rs. Eight lakh. Several startling facts were revealed by the arrested during interrogation during the past 15 days, he stated.

While the owner of Jyothi Cars and Travels in the city, Dinesh alias Mosu was the kingpin with crores of rupees credited to his bank accounts, Suribabu of Atchutapuram and Vasudeva Rao of Waltair opened current accounts in various banks and were conducting betting for the past couple of years.

There were eight others involved in the racket and the accused were using several online apps like X 333, X 666, Lots X, and Inside Edge for stakes and those who made profits initially were found to lose heavily later.

The DCP said such gambling was going on in some clubs in the city but there was difficulty in spotting them as they it was done online. It had to be seen how the culprits opened current accounts in banks and examine their bank statements, he said.

Hyderabad: As the city found itself under a blanket of clouds on Friday afternoon, scores of procession trucks remained in the queue awaiting their turn to immerse Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar.

Bustling with groups twinning in their traditional attire, along with police officers and sanitation workers facilitating easy passage; the festive vibe spilled on to the second day. Even as some devotees had to wait overnight, spirited tunes and pop music took turns to keep the atmosphere lively. Slogans praising the deity along with confetti blasts became a common sight.

According to officials, rains on Thursday delayed the immersions which concluded late in the evening on Friday. On the first day of immersion, 3,855 idols were immersed at Tank Bund between 6 am. on Thursday and 7 am on Friday. The majority of these idols – a total of 2197 – were immersed on Thursday morning. Other immersion sites like baby ponds near Jalavihar, and Sanjeevaiah Park, along with NTR Marg also recorded the most number of immersions.

With the Tank Bund road thrown open to commuters on Friday, the road leading from the Secretariat towards Khairatabad flyover saw free-flowing traffic. However, the parallel road towards Secunderabad was largely congested.

Efforts to clean up:

Around 3,000 GHMC sanitation workers split into three shifts at Tank Bund, took up the jarring task of clearing out the garbage and confetti from the roads. Apart from that, authorities also engaged in lifting up the idol remains simultaneously.

While some of the skeletal remains were removed from the water body on Thursday even as the immersion was still in progress, retrieval of the debris was temporarily paused on Friday. Pooja materials and garbage were collected separately with the intention to send some of this for recycling.

Immersion at Tank Bund:

– 36 cranes at 13 locations around Hussain Sagar
– 3,000 sanitation workers clearing out waste on Tank Bund road
– Pooja materials and garbage collected separately
