Rohit's Absolute Praise For Hardik After India's Win Over Sri Lanka

It was Kuldeep Yadav who bagged the most wickets for India in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka but he wasn’t the only bowler who impressed skipper Rohit Sharma. At the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit extolled allrounder Hardik Pandya for a phenomenal display with the ball against the Lankans, especially as the pitch was getting better for the batters to play as the day progressed. Hardik stepped up with the ball when the game was slipping from their hands and India were desperate for a wicket.

Dunith Wellalage was breathing fire on one end, while the rest of the batters were holding on to one end. Hardik pulled back the momentum in India’s favour as he dismissed Maheesh Theekshana.

Even though Hardik ended the night with a single wicket, his five overs were a sight to behold.

“He has worked really hard in his bowling for the last couple of years. It doesn’t happen overnight and it’s pleasing to see. He looked like taking a wicket off every ball. Was not an easy target to defend as the pitch got easier at the end and we had to put it consistently in one area and I think we did quite well,” Rohit said in the post-match presentation.

Along with Hardik, Kuldeep once again stole the limelight with a four-wicket haul making him the second fastest to 150 ODI wickets after Mohammed Shami.

“For the past year or so bowling really really well. He has done a lot of hard work on his rhythm. He went back to the drawing board and worked on it. The ball is coming out nicely and you can see the results in the last 10 ODIs,” Rohit added.

With this victory, India qualified for the Asia Cup 2023 final with a game to spare. Before the final game on Sunday, India will be in action against Bangladesh on Friday.

"Extremely Dangerous" Murderer Breaks Out Of US Prison, Steals Rifle

'Extremely Dangerous' Murderer Breaks Out Of US Prison, Steals Rifle

The police said there were around 500 officers looking for the murderer.

Bucktown, US:

Schools outside Philadelphia were closed and residents told to lock their doors Tuesday after an escaped Brazilian murderer dodged gunfire to steal a rifle from a home and was declared “extremely dangerous.”

Danelo Cavalcante, who made a daring escape from Chester County Prison nearly two weeks ago, has become the subject of fear and fascination for Americans as he avoids police dogs, drones, helicopters and special armed units.

Authorities set up roadblocks in the wooded, rural area around Bucktown, Pennsylvania, where elite SWAT police and armored vehicles were also deployed.

Although police have failed to corner the convicted killer, the Brazilian national has popped up repeatedly on residential security footage and even nature cameras set up to monitor wildlife, turning his criminal exploits into a grim reality TV show.

Since climbing over his prison wall on August 31, the 34-year-old has been able to steal new clothing, food and a van which he later abandoned, and managed to get a shave.

On Monday night, he raised the stakes by breaking into a home garage near Bucktown and taking a .22 caliber rifle with a scope and flashlight attached to the weapon, Pennsylvania police spokesman George Bivens told a press conference.

The homeowner confronted the fugitive and opened fire with a pistol but appeared to have missed the fugitive, who got away.

Cavalcante’s jailbreak came a week after he was sentenced to life for slaying his girlfriend by stabbing her dozens of times in front of her children in 2021. He is also wanted for murder in Brazil, US police say.

Cavalcante’s mother, who lives in rural Brazil, told the New York Times in an interview that she wasn’t surprised he was able to give the authorities the slip — just as he did in Brazil after allegedly killing a man there.

“His training was his suffering,” Iracema Cavalcante told the paper, recounting her son’s poor, rural upbringing.

She also despaired about him facing life in prison in the United States, saying “it’s better to die soon” than to “go to a place and suffer and die in that place.”

Cavalcante, just five feet (1.52 meters) tall, is “considered armed and extremely dangerous,” Bivens said.

In addition to flooding the search zone — a wide area west of Philadelphia — with messages warning residents, a decision was taken early Tuesday to close schools in the Oakland J. Robert school district.

“We’re not evacuating homes at this point. We’re asking residents to be vigilant and, again, lock their doors,” Bivens said.

‘Needle in haystack’

The police spokesman said there were around 500 officers, including heavily armed tactical units, combing the area, but that they are hampered by the wooded terrain.

Defending himself against criticism that the police have been inept in the manhunt, Bivens called Cavalcante the “proverbial needle in the haystack.”

Helicopters buzzed over an area that included Lundale Farm, some 40 miles (64 kilometers) outside of Philadelphia. Its executive director, Becki Patterson, said police were “walking through our property, walking through the woods.”

She said the area has “trees, creeks and bridges and all kinds of corners (where) you could sneak around.”

“It’s been very stressful.”

Police have upped the reward for information on Cavalcante’s whereabouts, from $20,000 to $25,000.

There have been several sightings of the convict so far, including some in which he was shirtless, while in others he is wearing a hoodie.

Police say Cavalcante had changed his appearance, shaving off the dark beard and mustache seen on his original “wanted” poster.

Police also said that the escapee had abandoned a stolen 2020 White Ford Transit van, reportedly taken from a dairy in West Chester. He’d apparently run out of fuel.

Prison officials last week released a video showing how Cavalcante was able to escape.

It shows the convict, then wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, crab-walking up two parallel walls and then climbing to the roof before making his way over two razor-wire fences.

At BJP HQ Today, Grand Welcome To PM For G20, Poll Plan Meet For 2 States

At BJP HQ Today, Grand Welcome To PM For G20, Poll Plan Meet For 2 States

Thousands of workers are expected to gather at the BJP’s headquarters in New Delhi.

New Delhi:

The BJP Headquarters in New Delhi is all set to see a flurry of activity on Wednesday evening, with thousands of party workers gathering to accord a grand welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the successful G20 Summit.

The Prime Minister will get down to electoral business right after and take part in the BJP’s Central Election Committee meeting to decide on candidates for the crucial Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Assembly elections.

The committee had also met on August 16 and candidates were announced for 39 constituencies in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and 21 in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh a day later. These were seats where the BJP does not have sitting MLAs.

Sources said Wednesday’s meeting is likely to see deliberations on 50 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh and 35 in Chhattisgarh. Madhya Pradesh has 230 Assembly seats and Chhattisgarh has 90.

The other members of the committee include BJP President J P Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The naming of the candidates in August, which was done three months ahead of the polls in the states, had taken many people by surprise as it was the first time that the BJP had announced a list even before the Election Commission of India had declared the poll dates.

The move was seen as an attempt to pre-empt any friction within the party and iron out issues ahead of the elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram. This is especially important as the party had lost in all the states in 2018, except Mizoram, where an NDA ally had formed the government with the BJP as a minor partner.

The party had bounced back in the Lok Sabha elections the next year, sweeping Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and doing better than the Congress in Telangana. It also managed to unseat the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh, following the rebellion led by Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath as chief minister in 2020.

Like in 2018, the elections in the five states are being seen as a ‘semi-final’ ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year. They have become even more important because of the BJP’s big loss in Karnataka in May, which has ensured that the party is not in power in any state in south India.

Indian Man Arrested For Allegedly Molesting South Korean Woman In Hong Kong

The video has sparked massive outrage on social media

An Indian-origin man has been arrested in Hong Kong for molesting a South Korean tourist who was live-streaming her visit to the city, South China Morning Post reported. The distressing incident was captured live on camera when the woman was broadcasting her day trip in Hong Kong.

The woman was reportedly waiting at a tram stop in the Central area when a stranger approached her asking for directions. The conversation which started amicably, soon took a disturbing turn when the man started getting closer to the vlogger and and asked her to come with him.

He then grabbed her hand and said, “Listen, come with me. I’m alone”, and attempted to physically grope her. The woman, visibly uncomfortable, tried to get his arm off her, repeatedly shouting “No, No, No.”

Despite her distress, the man kept pestering and following her. The situation escalated when she walked down a stairwell at the metro station. Once they were near the station steps, he forcefully pressed her against a wall and said: ”I am alone. Come with me.”

“I’m not alone,” the vlogger cried while consistently trying to push the man away. He then grabbed the woman’s chest and forcibly kissed her. When the woman cried for help, the accused was seen fleeing the scene.

The video has sparked massive outrage on social media, with many users raising concerns about the safety of content creators. Some users on social media have claimed that the man in the video Amit Jariyal.

According to an SCMP report, the man, employed as a waiter, was picked up on Belcher’s Street in Kennedy Town on Tuesday and has been detained on suspicion of indecent assault and outraging public decency.

After the incident, the vlogger traveled to Macau, where she shared her ordeal on another livestream, and also showed the bruises she sustained during the attack.

Western countries destroying international financial relations system: Putin

Moscow: The global economy is undergoing changes largely due to the “fact that certain Western countries are destroying the financial relations system”, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

“We know and can see how the global economy has changed and is continuing to change in recent years, due to the fact that some countries, primarily Western ones, are destroying the system of financial, trade, and economic relations that they themselves built,” Putin said during his speech at the plenary session of the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Xinhua news agency reported.

He said that in this context, genuine business cooperation between those states that choose not to succumb to external pressure is expanding. These states prefer to follow their own interests, Putin noted.

The Russian Far East city of Vladivostok welcomed thousands of participants for the 8th EEF on Sunday to promote economic and cultural exchanges among the regions of the Asia-Pacific.

The four-day EEF is organized by the Roscongress Foundation. Themed “On the Way to Cooperation, Peace and Prosperity,” it has served as an important venue for dialogue among politicians, business executives and experts for Far East development and regional cooperation.

Mustafa Prize: Iran to host 150 Muslim luminaries, including AI scientists, next month

The Mustafa (pbuh) Prize trophy

The central Iranian city of Isfahan is scheduled to host the 5th Mustafa Prize ceremony next month, with reports saying 150 luminaries from across the Muslim world attending the prestigious biennial event for their scientific excellence.

Hossein Rabbani, the head of Isfahan’s Elites Foundation, said the 5th Mustafa Prize ceremony will be held on October 2, when high-profile scientists in the field of Artificial Intelligence convene in Isfahan from 57 Islamic countries.

The prestigious ceremony will also host the 9th round of Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP), which is a platform organized by Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation to expand the scientific network among the Islamic world’s scholars by holding international events and laying the groundwork for enhancing scientific synergy and cooperation.

“Awarding a prize is regarded as a way of identifying outstanding people in scientific fields and brings to the fore the existing capacities in different areas of science,” Rabbani said.

“An international award, like the Mustafa Prize, has profound impacts given its media aspect,” he said, adding that it conveys the message that the Muslim world pays attention to science and technology.

Mustafa Prize was established in 2012 as one of the symbols of scientific excellence and has been held biennially since 2015, recognizing leading researchers and scientists of the Islamic world.

The laureates are awarded $500,000, which is financed through the science and technology endowment. They will also be adorned with Mustafa Medal and Honorary Diploma.

The prize is awarded in the four categories of Information and Communication Science and Technology, Life and Medical Science and Technology, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and All Areas of Science and Technology.

In 2016, the Science Magazine called the prize “the Muslim Nobel.”

"It Was Consented, 100 Percent Non-Sexual": Luis Rubiales On Kiss Scandal

Former Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales continued to insist his kiss on Jenni Hermoso’s lips after the Women’s World Cup final was “a mutual act”, in an interview broadcast Tuesday in the United Kingdom. World Cup-winning Spain midfielder Hermoso, 33, says the kiss was not consensual and a Spanish judge has summoned Rubiales to appear in court on Friday in a sexual assault investigation. Rubiales, who stood down from his post on Sunday, three weeks after the incident during the final medal ceremony following Spain’s Sydney triumph, maintains his version is the “truth”.

“What we had is a spontaneous act, a mutual act, an act that both consented to, which was driven by the emotion of the moment, the happiness, so I maintain that that is the truth of what happened,” Rubiales told TalkTV show Piers Morgan Uncensored.

The 46-year-old described the kiss as “non-sexual”, having previously compared his behaviour to how he would act with his daughters.

“My intentions were noble, enthusiastic, 100 percent non-sexual, 100 percent, I repeat, 100 percent,” said Rubiales.

The former federation chief, who was provisionally suspended by FIFA before he resigned, said the kiss occurred in a moment of jubilation.

“You can imagine if you win the lottery or hopefully soon one day the war in the Ukraine finishes, I mean celebrations will go on up and down the globe,” said Rubiales.

“People don’t ask permissions, it’s just a happy, happy time and people celebrate.”

However, Rubiales reiterated that he had asked permission for the kiss, which he described as “a peck”, and accepted that as president of the federation, the act was wrong.

“Of course, I have said it from the beginning, I made a mistake, and I apologised in a sincere manner,” he said.

“A president can give a hug, but needs to act in a more diplomatic and colder way.”

Rubiales faced unprecedented criticism after the kiss and his initial refusal to resign.

Over 80 women’s players went on strike from the national team and controversial coach Jorge Vilda was sacked.

The former chief said Sunday he was now stepping down to help Spain’s 2030 men’s World Cup bid, as well as his family who had come under pressure following his actions.

Couple In UK Escorted Off Plane After Caught Having Sex In Toilet

Couple Caught Having Sex Inside Toilet Of EasyJet Flight In UK, Escorted Off Plane

There are no reports of any arrests as yet

Two passengers were caught on camera allegedly having sex in the toilet during an easyJet flight from the UK’s Luton to Ibiza. The shocking footage, which went viral on X was taken on September 8 and showed a flight attendant opening the door of the toilet where the couple was caught in the act.

In the clip, a member of staff was seen nervously standing outside the toilet doors as passengers eagerly waited for him to open it. As he opened it, the couple was seen in a compromising position. The man involved in the act quickly slammed the door shut, as other passengers cheered and shrieked in surprise. One woman was heard screaming ”Oh my God”, before asking her friend if she had caught what happened on camera.

Meanwhile, the cabin crew and some passengers also appeared embarrassed as they clapped their hands over their mouths, not sure how to respond.

According to the Independent, the couple was escorted off the aircraft by police once the plane landed in Ibiza.

EasyJet confirmed the incident took place onboard one of their flights and added that the police were also informed. A spokesperson for the airline said: “We can confirm that this flight from Luton to Ibiza on 8 September was met by police on arrival due to the behaviour of two passengers onboard.”

There are no reports of any arrests as yet and the police is further investigating the matter.

While there is no UK law that explicitly deals with sex on a plane, it is ”an offence intentionally to engage in sexual activities in a public lavatory” under section 71 of the Sexual Offences Act 2004.

Meanwhile, the clip has left internet users amused who joked about the situation. One user wrote, ”Hope that wasn’t the pilot.”

Another said, ”Don’t know how that [is] possible I can just about stand up in one of those lol.”

Byju's Hid Rs 4,400 Crore In Fund Once Run From Pancake Shop In US: Report

Byju's Hid Rs 4,400 Crore In Fund Once Run From Pancake Shop In US, Allege Lenders: Report

One of India’s hottest tech companies, Byju’s, allegedly hid $533 million in an obscure three-year-old hedge fund that once said its principal place of business was an IHOP pancake restaurant in Miami, according to lenders trying to recover the cash.

Byju’s last year transferred more than half a billion dollars to Camshaft Capital Fund, the investment firm founded by William C. Morton when he was just 23 years old, some Byju’s lenders claim in a lawsuit. Morton’s fund received the money despite an apparent lack of formal training in investing, according to the lenders. What’s more, luxury cars – a 2023 Ferrari Roma, a 2020 Lamborghini Huracan EVO, and a 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith – have been registered in Morton’s name since the transfer occurred, according to court papers.

The allegations are the latest twist in an increasingly public battle between Byju’s, an India-based education tech firm, and lenders who claim the $533 million is collateral for a $1.2 billion loan. The two sides have been trading accusations about the loan, with lenders claiming it is in default and Byju’s accusing lenders of predatory tactics.

“Byju’s has gone to great lengths to conceal the whereabouts of borrower’s $533 million for the admitted purpose of hindering and delaying” creditors, they argued in Miami-Dade County court filings.

Byju’s, once India’s most valuable startup, is trying to strike a deal with creditors and this week made a surprise proposal to buy back the loan within six months. To bankroll that repayment, it’s in talks to sell some of its overseas assets to private equity and strategic investors. In an emailed statement late Tuesday US time, Byju’s said it’s not a party to the Florida court proceedings and hasn’t been served with copies of the lawsuit.

Glas Trust, the agent for the creditors, hasn’t informed Camshaft about the lawsuit, the fund’s lawyers said. “Camshaft vigorously denies the statements made in Glas Trust Company’s” court filing, Camshaft lawyer David Massey said in an emailed statement.

IHOP Fund

Byju’s sent the money to Camshaft even though the hedge fund appears to cater to smaller clients. Camshaft accepts as little as $50,000 – “an extremely low threshold for a hedge fund,” lenders said in their court filing.

In a 2020 Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Camshaft listed its principal business address as 285 NW 42nd Ave. Far from a typical office, that building is currently home to an IHOP. The diner in Miami’s Little Havana district is surrounded by a drive-through car wash and a strip mall that hosts a massage parlor and a sandwich shop.

An employee on shift on a slow Tuesday afternoon served two families who sipped juice and munched on burgers while Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country” played in the restaurant. “A hedge fund? No,” the server, Ana, said with wide eyes.

“If I had somebody coming in every day, or regularly, I’d recognize them,” she said.

She said she’d never heard of Morton, Camshaft Capital Fund, or Byju’s and that the address had been home to the IHOP for decades. She’s worked there for 10 years and hasn’t noticed people doing anything that looked like a business deal.

Miles away from that IHOP, an entity linked to Camshaft listed a swanky oceanfront condo at the Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach – where the likes of Lionel Messi own homes – as its business address, court papers show.

In an unrelated lawsuit filed by Camshaft in Miami in June, the hedge fund said its principal place of business is in the Virgin Islands.

Cash Fight

The missing cash has been at the heart of the lenders’ actions. The lenders’ agent, Glas Trust, won an early round in the fight by gaining control of the Byju’s unit that issued the debt. But by then, the cash had vanished. Byju’s was trying to protect the money from predatory lenders, a lawyer for Byju’s Alpha said during a court hearing in May. The company had a right to transfer the money under the loan agreement, the lawyer said.

Byju’s has claimed in court that the lenders are seeking to take over the entire ed-tech empire, which is led by its founder, Byju Raveendran. Byju’s has asked a Delaware judge to reject the default declared by Glas.

The company had been trying to strike a deal with creditors to restructure the facility, which itself is one of the biggest unrated term loan B offerings ever from a startup company.

Since the company was founded in 2015, Raveendran has attracted capital from some of the biggest investors in the tech world, including Mark Zuckerberg’s Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Silver Lake Management and Naspers Ltd. Byju’s was valued at more than $20 billion last year when it considered merging with a special-purpose acquisition company.

The lenders filed the lawsuit in order to trace the money and recover any excess management fees pay to Camshaft.

Camshaft had not yet filed a response to the lawsuit as of Tuesday afternoon in Miami.

The Miami lawsuit is Glas Trust Co. LLC V. Camshaft Capital Fund, LP, 2023-022640-CA-01, Miami-Dade County.
