Kareena Kapoor On Fashion Favourites, 'Saif Ali Khan Is The Most Stylish Man'

Kareena Kapoor finds Saif Ali Khan to be the most stylish man

Kareena Kapoor is widely established as a Bollywood fashion icon with style choices that fans love to emulate. But who this fashionista finds the most stylish comes as quite a surprise. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the Jaane Jaan actress confessed that for her, her husband, Saif Ali Khan is the most stylish man. She said, “It is the way he carries himself, he is also just very unaffected. He keeps firing [me] saying that you guys are doing airport looks, I am just getting ready and going to the airport like a normal person.” She further added, “I keep telling him put this, wear this, do this and he says, keep quiet and let me be. Everyone is just like oh my God! He is so stylish and so cool. So I think he just wears his charm and elegance really well.”  On being asked about Saif’s torn t-shirt, Kareena laughed and said, “I tell him to buy new track pants and he says it’s okay. He likes his puraana puraana t-shirts. I think it’s more about the comfort and attachment to it, rather than anything else.”

As mentioned by Kareena, Saif Ali Khan may in fact not have “Airport Looks” and he may dress “normally” while he travels. But his travel style is noteworthy, nonetheless. On one of his trips in August, his short-sleeved black kurta look with white pants was casual, comfortable and effortlessly stylish. Kareena’s style by comparison is ethnic chic. Check those out in the video below.

Saif Ali Khan’s cool, casually chic best comes through from his holiday looks. Recently, Saif and Kareena visited Switzerland and clicked pictures in front of the Alps. Saif looked cool in a tangerine shirt with a pair of beige shorts. A pair of trendy black sunglasses and white sneakers added charm to the look.

In yet another look from their holiday, Saif’s effortless style was showcased with his blue shirt, rolled up the sleeves, and a grey baseball cap.

Saif Ali Khan’s ethnic choices are equally exquisite. The actor picked an all-black bandhgala with a pair of white churidar pants and a pair of black shoes. He posed with Kareena, who wore a stunning cocktail gown. This majestic ethnic ensemble of Saif’s well suited his Nawabi status.

For the launch of NMACC, Saif’s classic dressing included an ivory kurta with a sleeveless vest and straight-fit pants. His ethnic charisma was indeed unmissable.

For Karan Johar’s 50th birthday bash, which was a star-studded affair, Saif and Kareena were seen adorning bling party outfits. Saif picked a stunning black and white tuxedo for a dapper fashion statement.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor looked like absolute royalty at Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s wedding ceremony. Saif was a heartthrob in an all-white ethnic ensemble consisting of a full-sleeved kurta with rolled-up sleeves and white pajamas.

Whether or not Kareena says so, Saif Ali Khan is undoubtedly one of the most stylish actors in the country

Russian President Vladimir Putin has met with North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un as the two countries expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Putin and Kim met on Wednesday at a summit at the Vostochny Cosmodrome space center in Russia’s far-eastern Amur region.

The two leaders inspected the facilities at the cosmodrome ahead of planned talks that could lead to Russia helping North Korea build satellites, as well as a possible arms deal.

The meeting, which Moscow and Pyongyang say aims to expand cooperation in various fields, is being closely monitored by the US and its allies.

Washington claimed it had intelligence data that the talks between Putin and Kim on a weapons deal were “actively advancing”.

The White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby claimed Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had allegedly tried to “convince Pyongyang to sell artillery ammunition” to Russia during his recent visit to North Korea.

Kremlin said Kim’s visit would cover “bilateral relations, the situation in the region and in the global arena.”

Kim tells Putin: I support your sacred battle against West

North Korea’s leader said his visit to Russia highlights the “strategic importance” of ties between Pyongyang and Moscow, North Korean state media reported.

Kim also told Putin that he supported the Russian nation’s sacred battle against the West.

In this regard, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would always act in its national interest.

“The interests of our two countries are important to us, and not warnings from Washington,” Russian media quoted Peskov as saying.

The North Korean leader’s previous trip abroad was to Russia to meet Putin after the collapse of bilateral denuclearization talks with the then-US president, Donald Trump.

Pakistan Look To See Of Sri Lanka Threat For A Place In Asia Cup Final

An injury-hit Pakistan will have the tough task of taming a high-spirited Sri Lanka when they lock horns in a Super 4 match here on Thursday for a place in the Asia Cup final. Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have two points and the winner of the virtual knock-out game will progress to the final on September 17. India have already secured a place in the summit clash after they defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs in a Super Four game on Tuesday. Rohit Sharma’s men lead the table with four points.

However, Pakistan will have more lines on their forehead ahead of their crunch game against the Lankans.

In all probability, they will not be able to summon pacers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah as both of them have been rendered doubtful with respective injuries.

Pakistan have added Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan, a 22-year-old slinger pacer who can hit 150 kmph clicks, as back-ups for the remainder of Asia Cup.

But that is just one part of their bag of worries. Pakistan batting is yet to hit the top gear in the tournament, except a 342 for six against minnows Nepal in the Asia Cup opener at Multan.

However, largely they are dependent on their openers – Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq – and captain Babar Azam for big runs.

They need some runs from the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha, and urgently too.

Iftikhar Ahmed showed his big-hitting prowess with a blistering hundred against Nepal, but he needs to do that more consistently against better oppositions.

Sri Lanka are definitely one of them. Pakistan had defeated them by seven wickets in a league match but the past will not hold for anything on the morrow.

While defeating Bangladesh and stretching India, the Lankans under Dasun Shanaka have shown that they are not mere pushovers despite the absence of some first-choice players.

Sri Lanka too were hit hard by injuries in the run-up to the tournament as key players like Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara were ruled out.

It has forced them to field a young side lacking in experience and exposure but players such as Dunith Wellalage, Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana have come up with some impressive efforts in the tournament.

That said the home side will hope for some more consistency from their pacers – particularly from Kasun Rajitha, who has taken four wickets from as many matches but gave away nearly six runs an over in all the games.

So, Lanka might hope for their spinners to come to party once again as they were exemplary against India on a pitch that offered plenty of turn and grip.

They had cut through India’s strong top-order with left-arm spinner Wellalage taking five wickets.

Hence, Lanka could offer a similar pitch to Pakistan as it can also nullify their pace battery led by left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Squads:

Pakistan: Babar Azam (captain), Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Haris, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, Tayyab Tahir (travelling reserve). Shahnawaz Dahani, Zaman Khan (back-ups for injured Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah).

Sri Lanka: Dasun Shanaka (captain), Pathum Nissanaka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Janith Perera, Kusal Mendis (vice-captain), Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, Matheesha Pathirana, Kasun Rajitha, Dushan Hemantha, Binura Fernando, Pramod Madushan.

Match starts 3 PM IST.

'At Least We Can C': Samsung In Latest Jibe At Apple Over Port Change

Apple launched iPhone 15 and other devices at its Wonderlust event on Tuesday.

Samsung, one of the leading manufacturers of Android phones, has taken a jibe at Apple for switching to USB Type-C from lightning port in its latest iPhones and Airpods. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the South Korean tech giant said they can “C” the change that it magical. Apple unveiled its new line-up of iPhone with the Type-C port after a tussle with the European Union (EU). The new port will offer faster charging and data transfer speeds.

Samsung’s post has been views more than one million times. But internet is divided, with some users praising Apple’s ecosystem and others giving Android ecosystem made by Samsung thumbs up.

“Y’all should give it a rest. Y’all use iPhone to chase clout every year. All these tweets still won’t make us buy samsung products,” commented one user.

“Win win for Samsung. Samsung is Apple’s biggest supplier of components, providing them with a wide range of parts, including displays, memory chips, and processors. This relationship has been going on for many years, and it is mutually beneficial to both companies,” said another. “Not even funny. And iPhone is a way more better btw,” a third user added.

Others, however, enjoyed the ongoing rivalry between two tech giants.

“We C what you did there,” commented one user. “Samsung handler deserves a raise,” said another.

After last year’s event, the Seoul-based company had mocked Apple over its “lack of innovation” even before the launch of the iPhone 14.

In an ad, Samsung showcased some of its high-end features and 120X zoom available in its flagship device. “This innovation is not coming soon to an iPhone near you,” the company had said.

Then in November 2022, Samsung again mocked Apple while reacting to reports that the iPhone maker is working on a foldable phone.

Samsung said in its ad that Apple always makes iPhone users wait for new and useful features.

As Nipah Returns, How Kerala Plans To Prevent Its Spread

As Nipah Returns, How Kerala Plans To Prevent Its Spread

The state has intensified surveillance for any cases of infection to start contact tracing

Thiruvananthapuram:

Determined to prevent the spread of Nipah virus, the Kerala government has swung into action as soon as four cases of infection were confirmed in Kozhikode. The state government has planned a pre-emptive approach to curb the spread of infection. Kerala’s earlier fights against the Nipah virus, dreaded for its high fatality rates, had earned international acclaim.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George has said the state is aiming for “proactive detection” of infection before cases are confirmed in labs. The health administration is monitoring clinical symptoms so that alerts can be sounded in advance.

The state administration, Ms George said, is focusing on tracing contacts of infected persons early and isolating those with symptoms.

Nipah infection can cause problems ranging from respiratory issues to fatal encephalitis – meaning inflammation of the brain. The symptoms include fever, headache, cough, difficulty breathing and vomiting. As the infection becomes more serious, patients can experience disorientation, seizures and may also sleep into a coma.

Responding to a question in Assembly today, the health minister said seven village panchayats — Atanchery, Maruthonkara, Tiruvallur, Kuttiyadi, Kayakkodi, Villyapalli, and Kavilumpara — in Kozhikode district have been declared containment zones. The creation of containment zones is part of the state government’s strategy to limit the spread of infection.

To protect children from getting infected, Education Minister V Sivankutty has directed schools to opt for online exams.

Teams from the National Institute of Virology would reach the southern state today to carry out a survey. A team of epidemiologists from Chennai is also on its way to Kerala.

Ms George said in Assembly today that the virus strain in Kerala was the Bangladesh variant that spreads from human to human and has a high mortality rate. However, she said, this strain is less infectious.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has asked people not to panic and to take precautions instead. “Everyone should strictly follow the instructions of the health department and the police and fully cooperate with the restrictions,” he has said.

The Union Health Ministry has confirmed that two people have died of the infection so far – one on August 30 and the other on Monday.

The zoonotic virus that can spread from animals to humans and then among humans. Fruit bats, also known as flying foxes, are hosts for Nipah virus.

Apple Ditches Lightning Connector For USB Type-C: What It Means For You

Apple Ditches Lightning Connector For USB Type-C: What It Means For You

Apple switched to USB Type-C after new regulations imposed by EU.

Apple has ditched the lightning port in it various devices and replaced it with USB Type-C port. Android phones have been using the same port for charging for years, and Apple has made the switch after new regulations imposed by European Union (EU). The new port will be available in iPhone 15 series, AirPods and other devices the company launched at its Wonderlust event on Tuesday. For existing users, it will be a pain in initial days as they will have to buy a new cable but in the long run, it will be beneficial.

Here’s how the change to USB Type-C will impact Apple users:

  • The Type-C ports support reverse insertion, which means users can insert either end of the cable
  • Also, the new type of port can transmit data at a higher rate
  • Another important point to note here is that USB Type-C cabled are cheaper compared to lightning ones
  • For Android users, who are making a switch to iPhone, and others who have been using the Type-C cable, it’ll be easier for them to charge their devices
  • The EU pushed for a common charges citing its environmental benefits. According to European Commission estimates, a common charger will save 11,000 tons of e-waste annually in Europe

Apple had long argued that its cable was more secure than USB-C chargers, which are already deployed by Apple on other devices.

Meanwhile, the update to Apple’s line comes as the tech giant faces declining sales of iPhones, with premium prices pushing customers to delay switching to newer models.

The company is also caught up in diplomatic turbulence between the United States and China, with reports saying Beijing is banning civil servants from using its phones.

US Cop Caught On Tape Laughing After Indian Student Killed In Accident

US Cop Caught On Tape Laughing After Indian Student Killed In Accident, Probe Launched

The 23-year-old was a master’s student at Northeastern University’s Seattle campus.

An investigation has been launched against Seattle police union leaders after an officer was recorded on his body camera laughing and joking about an Indian-origin woman who was killed by a police patrol vehicle in January this year, the New York Post reported.

In the video, Officer Daniel Auderer can be heard discussing the investigation into the accident involving graduate student Jaahnavi Kandula, who was killed by his colleague, Officer Kevin Dave, on January 23. The 23-year-old was a master’s student at Northeastern University’s Seattle campus.

In the video, Mr. Auderer can be heard saying “She is dead” before bursting out into laughter and calling Ms. Kandula “a regular person”. He can be heard further saying, through bursts of laughter, “Yeah, just write a check. Eleven thousand dollars.”

The clip ends with him saying: “She was 26 anyway, she had limited value”, getting her age wrong.

Here’s the footage:

The Seattle Community Police Commission (CPC) issued a statement Monday following the release of the video, calling the conversation between Auderer and his colleague, “heartbreaking and shockingly insensitive.”

“The people of Seattle deserve better from a police department that is charged with fostering trust with the community and ensuring public safety,” the CPC added.

Meanwhile, the Seattle police department, which released the video “in the interest of transparency,” said it would not comment on the matter until the Police Accountability Office concludes its investigation into the incident.

Notably, Ms. Kandula, a native of the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, died after being struck by a Seattle police patrol vehicle in South Lake Union. The Seattle police department in a statement said that the officer driving the marked patrol SUV was travelling northbound on Dexter Avenue North when responding with Seattle Fire Department to a “priority one call.” The female pedestrian was crossing from east to west in the crosswalk when the vehicle hit her, according to the statement.

Initially, Auderer reported the officer was driving his car at 50 MPH and was not ”out of control”. However, later, the police investigation found that the car was at 74 MPH when it hit Ms Kandula. According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, the cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries.

She was a student at the Northeastern University campus in South Lake Union and was on track to receive a master’s degree in information systems this December.

Ariana Grande opens up about quitting botox in emotional video

Ariana Grande, known for her role as Glinda the Good Witch in the forthcoming ‘Wicked’ film adaptation, got teary-eyed in a ‘Vogue Beauty Secrets’ video.

Ariana Grande opens up about quitting botox in emotional video

Los Angeles: Singer-songwriter Ariana Grande shed tears as she shared her experience with Botox and why she no longer uses it.

The pop singer, who plays Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musical ‘Wicked’, was overcome with emotion when she revealed in a ‘Vogue Beauty Secrets’ video that she no longer feels the need to use cosmetic injectables, reports ‘People’ magazine.

“Full transparency as a beauty person, as I do my lips,” the 30-year-old singer said before applying colour to her lips. “(I’ve) had a ton of lip filler over the years and Botox. I stopped in 2018 because I just felt so – too much. I just felt like (I was) hiding, you know?”

As the ‘Thank U, Next’ singer began tearing up while insisting she “didn’t expect to get emotional,” she went on to explain that for a long time, beauty was “about hiding for me”.

“I, over the years, used makeup as a disguise or as something to hide behind,” Grande admitted, quoted by ‘People’, adding that she also used big hairstyles in a similar manner.

“More hair, more and more, (the) thicker eyeliner… and that can be so beautiful at times and I still do have love for it.”

Grande’s aesthetic has mellowed over the years because she started out performing in the public eye at such a young age, when she was forced to deal with the opinions of others, she said.

“Being exposed to so many voices at a young age and especially when people have things to say about your appearance and stuff at a young age, it’s really hard to know what’s worth hearing or not, but when you’re 17, you don’t really know you don’t know that yet,” Grande explained in the video.

Israel’s Pegasus spyware found to exploit bug to target Apple devices

A digital watchdog has discovered spyware linked to the Israeli hacking company NSO Group, which exploited a software flaw in Apple devices.

The University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab said in a statement that it had found the bug while inspecting the Apple device of a staffer at a Washington-based civil society group.

The vulnerability allowed the NSO Group to inject its Pegasus spyware remotely and surreptitiously onto iPhones and iPads.

“The exploit chain was capable of compromising iPhones running the latest version of iOS (16.6) without any interaction from the victim,” the statement read, adding that its finding “shows once again civil society is targeted by highly sophisticated exploits and mercenary spyware.”

Bill Marczak, a senior researcher at Citizen Lab, told Reuters, “The indications confirm with high confidence the responsibility of NSO’s Pegasus spyware for the hacking operation, based on the forensic evidence we obtained from the target device.”

On Friday, Apple released an update for iPhones and iPads to patch the security flaw in the devices’ system software.

In recent years, NSO has been embroiled in an international scandal after being accused of providing Pegasus malware to countries with poor human rights records who used it to spy on dissidents, journalists, and activists.

The US government blacklisted the Israeli company in 2021 for its sale of hacking tools to repressive regimes.

Pegasus can let external parties access an infected device, enabling them to view photos, videos, e-mail, and text messages, even if they were sent through applications that offer encrypted communication.

It can also record conversations made on or near a device, tap its cameras, and determine the user’s location.
