Israeli army martyrs 33 Palestinians in Gaza over past day

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Friday that 44,363 Palestinians have been martyred since the outbreak of war on October 7, 2023.

The ministry in a statement announced the latest number of martyred and wounded Palestinians in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7 of the previous year.

The report put the total number of Palestinian people wounded in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip at 105,070.

The ministry added that Palestinians were martyred 33 and 137 others were wounded in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.

Israel waged a genocidal war on the besieged Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian Hamas Resistance group carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Israel has imposed a complete siege on the densely populated territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

New Delhi: After operating for nearly 10 years, full service carrier Vistara flew into the sunset on Tuesday early morning operating its last flight from the national capital to Singapore.

Vistara — a joint venture between Tatas and Singapore Airlines — has now merged with Air India, creating an enlarged entity that is now the country’s largest international carrier and second-largest domestic carrier.

UK115 flight from Delhi to Singapore was the last flight of Vistara with the code ‘UK’ while UK986 from Mumbai to Delhi was the carrier’s last domestic flight.

Starting a new chapter in India’s fast-growing civil aviation space, the merged entity operated its first flight with the code ‘AI2286’ from Doha to Mumbai.

In the domestic sector, the integrated entity’s first flight AI2984 took off from Mumbai to Delhi. All the four flights landed at their respective destinations early in the morning on Tuesday, according to information available on the flight tracking website Flightradar24.com.

According to an official, the two airlines have been merged, passengers are being issued Air India boarding passes and check-in counters of Vistara at airports have become that of Air India.

The code ‘AI2XXX’ is being used for Vistara flights that are being operated by Air India post the merger to help passengers identify the Vistara flight at the time of booking.

On Monday, an official said the integrated entity will be operating services on 103 domestic and 71 international routes. With the merger, first announced in November 2022, Singapore Airlines will have a 25.1 per cent stake in the integrated entity, which will operate more than 5,500 weekly flights on local and international routes.

A formal announcement about the merger is expected later in the day. Tata Group has led the consolidation wave in Indian aviation with two major mergers in less than two months — AIX Connect was integrated with Air India Express on October 1 and now the merger of Vistara with Air India.

Air India, Vistara and AIX Connect together had a domestic market share of little over 29 per cent in September, as per latest official data. Together, the Air India group has an operational fleet of 298 aircraft — around 208 with Air India and about 90 with Air India Express.

TSEA urges Govt to revise tender conditions of SHG solar project

TSEA urges Govt to revise tender conditions of SHG solar project

The State government has decided to allot 1 MW solar plants to SHGs to help them financially

Hyderabad: The Telangana Solar Energy Association (TSEA) has urged the State government to revise the tender conditions formulated for the setting up of 1 MW solar plants by Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the State.

The State government has decided to allot 1 MW solar plants to SHGs to help them financially. Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited (TGREDCO) has recently invited tenders to take up the solar plant installation works.

TSEA president B Ashok Kumar Goud has urged the TGREDCO to address certain tender conditions that could unintentionally disadvantage local vendors and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), thereby favouring larger, non-local players. TGREDCO-empanelled vendors, who have been active in the rooftop solar sector (up to 1 MW) in Telangana, face challenges with the new tender, he said, adding that the tender’s requirement for ground-mounted solar plants with 11/33 kV connectivity excludes vendors experienced in smaller-scale rooftop projects with LT (400V) terminations.

Stating that Telangana currently lacks a robust policy for solar plants exceeding 1 MW, Ashok Kumar said the gap puts local businesses at a disadvantage, as most vendors lack experience in high-capacity ground-mounted projects, which were now mandatory under the tender conditions.

TGREDCO should revise the tender conditions to align with the capacities and experiences of local MSMEs and empanelled vendors, he said, adding that this would help create more equitable opportunities for Telangana-based businesses.

Iran warns against spread of terrorism in West Asian region

Iran has warned against the resurgence of Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria, calling for decisive and coordinated efforts to prevent the spread of terrorism across the West Asian region.

Strongly condemning all forms of terrorism, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Thursday Tehran considers the reactivation of terrorist groups in Syria part of an evil plan by Israel and the US to destabilize West Asia.

Baghaei stressed the need for vigilance and coordination among regional countries, especially Syria’s neighbors, to thwart this dangerous plot.

The Iranian diplomat also referred to the international community’s responsibility to prevent and fight against the ominous phenomenon of terrorism.

Baghaei warned that any delay in confronting terrorists in Syria would plunge the region into a new round of insecurity and instability.

He voiced Iran’s continued support for the Syrian government and people in their fight against terrorist groups to restore security and stability to the country.

Israel has been the principal supporter of terrorist groups that oppose the democratically-elected government of President Bashar al-Assad since the foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria.

Tel Aviv has significantly ramped up its strikes since last October, when it began a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, in what has been described by observers as a reckless bid threatening to fuel tensions throughout the region further.

The Israeli regime has carried out hundreds of attacks against Syria since 2011, when the Arab nation found itself in the grip of rampant foreign-backed militancy and terrorism.

On Wednesday, members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorist outfit and their allied armed factions reportedly attacked at least 10 areas under the control of the Syrian military in the west of Aleppo city and the eastern countryside of Idlib.

More than 130 people including soldiers as well as militants from both sides were said to be killed as a result of the heavy clashes.

Civilians, including children, had been killed and injured in the clashes, which saw Syrian army forces fire “hundreds of shells and missiles on civil and military positions” during the fighting.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based monitor, said, on Thursday that 65 HTS members were killed along with 18 from allied militant groups and 49 members of government forces.

The Syrian army, in a statement carried by state news agency SANA on Thursday, said “a huge and large-scale terrorist attack, with large numbers of terrorists and using medium and heavy weapons”, had targeted villages, towns and military sites.

Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television network cited a Syrian source in Idlib as saying that HTS had directed all hospitals in the city and the northern countryside to stop surgeries and prepare to treat only the militants injured in the battles.
