Erdogan: Israel to blame for tensions in West Asia

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says the Israeli regime is solely to blame for escalating tensions in West Asia.

“The main one responsible for the tension that gripped our hearts on the evening of April 13 is [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his bloody administration.”

Those are the words made by the Turkish leader in a televised address on Tuesday.

Speaking at the presidential complex after a cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara, Erdogan said new tensions could be expected in the region until the “oppression and genocide” in Gaza ends.

In his remarks, Erdogan underscored his administration’s role as a stable actor amidst global turmoil, attributing this to its balanced foreign policy and achievements in the defense industry.

The Israeli regime launched its genocidal campaign in the besiged Gaza Strip in early October after a surprise attack by the Hamas resistance movement in retaliation for decades of Israeli atrocities.

Since then the Israeli regime forces have killed more than 33,800 Palestinians in Gaza.

In January, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued an interim ruling that ordered the Tel Aviv regime to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.

Hyderabad: Great news for mango lovers in Hyderabad this summer! Thanks to the early arrival and abundant availability of the ‘king of fruits’ in the city, aficionados of this seasonal fruit will now have access to the choicest varieties at affordable price.

The mango supplies to the city started in February itself, a month before its regular arrival time and since then the supplies have been encouraging.

The fruit has arrived in huge quantities at the Batasingaram market in Hayathnagar, and also at Kushaiguda, Bowenpally, Jambagh and Gudimalkapur.

At the Batasingaram market, since the beginning of the season, 12,929 truck loads of mangoes have arrived.

The arrivals are from Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Ranga Reddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Warangal and Gadwal in Telangana while from Andhra Pradesh the fruit arrivals are from Ananthapur, Krishna, West Godavari and Kurnool districts.

“The local produce of Telugu States is transported to North India where there is huge demand for it. At least 60 per cent of the mango yield is sent to Delhi, Haryana, and other States by farmers because it fetches good prices for them,” says Batasingaram fruit market secretary Ch. Narsimha Reddy.

Good arrivals means, the average mango lover in Hyderabad now can taste different varieties of mangoes like Banganapalli, Kesar, Himayat, Totapari, Dasheri, Alphonso and several more.

“The supplies will continue till the month of June. Compared to last two years, this year, the arrivals have been very good,” says Narsimha Reddy. A kilogram of mangoes is now priced between Rs 120 and Rs 140. In the next few weeks, the prices will further reduce, and people can buy a kilogram of mangoes at a price of Rs 80 to Rs 100.

He stressed the need for developing hi-tech commercial horticulture production clusters and cold chains as part of the effort for developing post harvest storage infrastructure in a big way. He wanted the officials also to pay equal attention to Central government schemes such as Oil Palm Area Expansion Programme, National Bamboo Mission and Sub-Mission on Agro-Forestry for development of the horticulture sector in the State.

Op. True Promise showcased interoperability of Iran’s Army, IRGC: Top general

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri says the Islamic Republic’s retaliatory strikes on the Israeli-occupied territories manifested a high level of cooperation and interoperability between Iran’s Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Baqeri made the statement in a message to Army Chief Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi ahead of the National Army Day on April 17.

In a multi-pronged attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, Iran launched late on April 13 hundreds of drones and missiles at the occupied territories in response to the regime’s aggression on the Iranian diplomatic facilities in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1.

The Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s embassy compound in Damascus had killed two generals of the Quds Force of IRGC, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, as well as five of their accompanying officers.

Baqeri praised the Iranian Army’s power of deterrence and defense capabilities against the country’s enemies over the years, and said the force has consolidated its standing as an “efficient, modern and powerful” army in the fields of ground, air, sea, defense and electronic warfare.

“The manifestation of such preparedness was the solidarity, cooperation and synergy of the Army with the IRGC during the historic and proud Operation True Promise in punishing the Zionist aggressor regime, which showed to the international community a new level of the defense power of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces,” Baqeri said.

In another message on the same occasion, IRGC’s Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami congratulated the nation on the National Army Day and said the “brilliant” performance of the Army in cooperation with the IRGC forces in various missions has guaranteed the country’s deterrence power.

Salami said the interoperability of the Army and IRGC serves as a “source of pride for Iran and Iranians,” and is “enviable” for the enemies.

On April 13, the IRGC targeted the Israeli-occupied territories with a barrage of drones and missiles. The extent of the damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories is yet to be specified.

Following the reprisal, Iran warned Israel against taking any retaliatory actions and also urged the United States to try not to involve itself in the conflict and signaled that it viewed the matter as “concluded.”

President Ebrahim Raeisi said in a statement on Sunday, “If the Zionist regime or its supporters demonstrate reckless behavior, they will receive a decisive and much stronger response.”

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations also said in a statement that Tehran’s response to Israeli aggression was a “legitimate defense” in accordance with the UN Charter, warning Washington to “stay away” from the matter.

The Eden Gardens on Tuesday was witness to something special on Tuesday. Sunil Narine, after 15 years since making his first-class debut, scored his career’s first century at the age of 35 years and 326 days. The century came in 49 balls for Kolkata Knight Riders against Rajasthan Royals. The West Indies allrounder, who has been promoted up the order, slammed 13 fours and six sixes on way to slamming a 56-ball 109. The century was met with joyous reaction from Shah Rukh Khan, team owner of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir has been really influential in Narine’s rise. During his stint as IPL captain, Gambhir had used Narine as a pinch-hitter at the top of the order. Former India and CSk star wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel praised Gambhir for giving Narine a new role.

“When Gautam Gambhir was captain of KKR, he was completely convinced that Sunil Narine is the kind of player who could win them matches if he opened the batting. He came back to KKR and has done just that. A lot of things make a difference. Knowing you have someone who backs you, allows you to bat with confidence. Without a doubt, his batting is exciting. If you score 85 off 39 balls and it feels like every other ball can go for a four or a six, it is exciting,” Parthiv Patel said as quoted by Jio Cinema.
