US base in Syria comes under drone attack

The US base in Syria’s al-Tanf region was targeted with a suicide drone, local sources reported on Tuesday morning.

No group has claimed responsibility for targeting the US base so far.

Resistance groups based in Iraq have repeatedly hit US bases on Iraqi and Syrian territories with missiles and drones over the past weeks in retaliation for the Israeli regime’s crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.

The groups are also outraged at the US military presence in the region, which they see as a source of instability, as well as Washington’s support for the Israeli regime in its ongoing war on Gaza.

"Be Ready For Action": Supreme Court To Ramdev In Misleading Ads Case

The Supreme Court pulled up Patanjali over misleading advertisements (File)

New Delhi:

The Supreme Court today came down heavily on Patanjali Ayurved’s co-founder Ramdev and Managing Director Balakrishna for their “absolute defiance” in not filing proper affidavits over the company’s misleading advertisements.

“Not just the Supreme Court, every order passed by the courts across this country has to be respected. This is absolute defiance,” the top court said.

The top court observed that advertisements issued by Patanjali are in the “teeth of law” of the land. ” Be ready for action,” the Supreme Court told Ramdev.

A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah also refused to accept an apology tendered by Patanjali last month after the top court rap during the earlier hearing. “We are not happy with your apology,” Justice Kohli said.

“You should have made sure that the solemn undertaking should have been in letter and spirit. We can also say that we are sorry for not accepting it. Your apology is not persuading this court. It is more of a lip service,” the Supreme Court said.

After which, Ramdev’s lawyer said both Ramdev and Balakrishna are ready to personally apologise in the court. “We want to apologise and are ready for whatever the court says,” Senior advocate Balbir Singh told the court with folded hands.

The bench granted last opportunity to Ramdev and Balkrishna to file their affidavits in the matter in one week.

The Supreme Court also pulled up the Centre for not taking action and said they were sitting with their eyes shut. “We are wondering why the government chose to keep their eyes shut ,” the bench had said.

The Supreme Court has asked Ramdev and Balkrishna to be present in the court on April 10 – the next date of hearing in the case.

On February 27, the top court had directed the company to stop all electronic and print advertisements of its medicines giving misleading” information with immediate effect.

The case began in November last year when the Supreme Court, while hearing a petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), cautioned Patanjali Ayurved against making “false” and “misleading” claims in advertisements about its medicines.

IMA had referred to several advertisements which allegedly projected the allopathy and the doctors in poor light, saying that “disparaging” statements have also been made by firms, engaged in the production of ayurvedic medicines, to mislead the general public.

These commercials say that the medical practitioners themselves are dying despite taking modern medicines, the counsel for the IMA had said.

Israeli crime against Iran not to go unanswered: Raeisi

Issuing a statement on Tuesday morning, Raeisi strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s fresh act of aggression.

Terming the Israeli missile attack on Iran’s consulate as a terrorist crime and a gross violation of international regulations, Raeisi expressed condolences to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation, IRGC staff, and the families of the IRGC martyrs.

After repeated defeats and failures against the Resistance front, the Zionist regime is struggling to save itself by committing such crimes, but it should know that it will never achieve its sinister goals with such inhumane actions, Raeisi stressed.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday evening. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus on Monday, IRGC said in a statement.

Reacting to the Israeli aggression, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani on Monday night said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reserving its rights to take countermeasures, decides on the type of reaction and punishment of the aggressor.

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Ambassador to Syria stressed that the country will give a decisive response to the Israeli regime.

Not MI's 3 Golden Ducks, Samson Reveals Surprising 'Game-Changer' For RR

Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson believes that the toss turned out to be the “game changer” during their 6-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in the Indian Premier League 2024. RR maintained their unbeaten run in the IPL with a comprehensive victory over the struggling Hardik Pandya-led MI. After Samson won the toss and put MI to bat in their first game of the season, Trent Boult’s exquisite opening spell left MI dangling after the powerplay. Yuzvendra Chahal swooped away the middle order, which forced the five-time champions to succumb to a total of 125/9.

After the game, Samson weighed on the importance of the toss in their clinical win and said, “I think the toss was the game changer. The wicket was too sticky to start off, and the experience of Boult and Burger helped us. He’s playing since 10-15 years, and that is what we expected with the new ball. Didn’t expect 4-5 wickets to fall, but we knew our bowlers would do well.”

“We know we have big individuals in our team, but where we stand out is everyone recognises their role, does it and moves on. The likes of Ash and Chahal realised we had a good powerplay, and they kept it tight without really looking for wickets,” he added.

Some special praise was in store for Chahal, who ended the game with 3/11. The legbreak spinner picked up crucial wickets of Tilak Varma, MI skipper Hardik Pandya and Gerald Coetzee.

“I think he was really fired up for this IPL, and he’s been doing well for the past 2-3 years for us,’ Samson concluded.

Coming to the match, MI struggled to get going right from the beginning, as they barely reached 125/9. Pandya scored the highest for the MI with 34 off 21 deliveries, while Tilak Varma played a crucial knock of 32 runs in 29 balls.

In reply, Riyan Parag, riding high on his past performances, left MI bowlers at his mercy and finished off the game in style to seal a sic-wicket win for RR.

Pakistan says it's within its rights to import gas from Iran

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif

Pakistan says it is within its rights to import natural gas from Iran despite objections raised by the United States to fresh attempts by Islamabad to revive a 2009 gas supply agreement with Tehran.

Asif told reporters after a parliament session on Monday that Pakistan has the right to benefit from an economic supply of natural gas from Iran, saying that the US should understand Pakistan’s problems for importing energy at exorbitant prices in international markets.

He said that Iran can supply energy to Pakistan in an easy way and at a fair price.

The minister said that the US should come up with an alternative solution if it is opposed to the gas transfer project from Iran to Pakistan.

The comments come days after US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu told a Congressional hearing that the US government was working to prevent the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. He said that Islamabad had not requested a waiver from US sanctions on Iran to conduct gas trade with its western neighbor.

However, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in response that Pakistan does not need a sanctions waiver to build pipelines to import natural gas from Iran.

Pakistan approved earlier this year to start the construction of an 80-kilometer pipeline from its border with Iran to its southwestern port city of Gwadar. That came just as the country was nearing a deadline set by Iran to start pipeline construction under the 2009 agreement or face international legal action.

Based on the Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement signed in June 2009, Iran would supply 750 million to 1 billion cubic feet (up to 28.3 million cubic meters) per day of natural gas to Pakistan.

However, the project has stalled despite the fact that Iran finished building a 900-kilometer pipeline on its side of the border in 2011 as part of the agreement with Pakistan.
