Shoot for ‘Toxic’ starring Yash to start in Karnataka; scale of production build as first for state

Mumbai: Actor Yash-starrer upcoming film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups’ is set to start its shoot in Karnataka. For the same, the makers of the film have erected huge sets with technicians across the film industries of India.

The film is helmed by Geetu Mohandas who is known for ‘Liar’s Dice’. Currently, the film is in post-production. Although the shoot date is yet to be revealed, the first leg of the shoot will be flagged off in Karnataka.

The film’s producers in a statement said: “Due to the lack of optimal facilities, all our big films end up being shot outside the state. Yash has long expressed that concern, and to change that, we at KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations are kickstarting the shooting of ‘Toxic’ in Karnataka.”

“We have already erected massive sets, creating many job opportunities and avenues for people at ground level, technicians and budding talent in the state. We are working towards making a film of global potential,” they said.

“As producers, we had options from various locations in India and abroad. The film has onboard actors and technicians from multiple industries, even international talent, and setting up a base there would have been more economical. However, Yash and KVN took the initiative to establish ‘Toxic’ HQ in Karnataka before we shoot parts of the film in locations elsewhere, and showcase the tremendous potential of our people,” the statement added.

The film is being co-produced by Venkat K. Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on April 10, 2025.

‘3 security forces, 2 assailants killed during terror attacks in S Iran’

At least three security forces and two assailants have reportedly been killed during terror attacks targeting several military headquarters in the southern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

The attacks took place in late Wednesday against the headquarters in question in Rask and Chabahar Counties, which are located in the southern part of the province, IRNA reported.

Alireza Marhamati, provincial governor’s deputy for security and law enforcement, said the attacks took place at around 22:00 local time (18:30 GMT).

“Thanks to the preparedness of the military and law enforcement forces, the assailants were confronted with,” he said, noting that several attackers had been either killed or injured during the confrontation.

“The security situation is under control,” Marhamati added.

According to the official, the so-called Jaish ul-Adl, a terror outfit that was formed in 2012 and has conducted several attacks on the Iranian soil in recent years, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Reporting on the incident, Tasnim News Agency specified the group’s target in Rask as the headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

“At least two terrorists have been killed and several others wounded so far,” the report said.

“Confrontation and shooting has ended and the Corps’ forces are engaged in purging the area,” it added.

Shedding more light on the details of the developments in Rask, the agency said the attack began after assailants started opening fire towards the IRGC’s headquarters there from the direction of the county’s main hospital. “They (the attackers) were faced with reciprocal fire issued by the Corps’ forces,” the agency said.

A number of the terrorists, meanwhile, tried to enter the headquarters by detonating explosives. “Their attempt was, however, frustrated as a result of heavy fire opened on them on the part of the Corps’ forces,” the report noted.

Russia Says No Issues With Oil Payment From India

Russia Says No Issues With Oil Payment From India

The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that deliveries of Russian oil to India are steadily high.

Moscow:

The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that deliveries of Russian oil to India are steadily high, with no payment issues encountered, the state-owned news agency TASS reported.

“Russian oil supplies to India are maintained at a steadily high level; no problems arise with determining means of payment for oil exported by Russia,” Maria Zakharova, the official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said at a briefing on Wednesday (Local Time).

The priority in payments “is given to national currencies,” she highlighted.

“This makes it possible not to depend on the so-called ‘rules of the game’ imposed by the Westerners when making banking transactions,” TASS quoted Zakharova as saying.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in February this year reaffirmed India’s stance on buying Russian oil despite sanctions on Moscow amid military conflict with Ukraine.

He said that India and Russia have always shared “stable and friendly ties” and Moscow has never hurt the interests of New Delhi.

In an interview with the German economic daily, Handelsblatt during his visit to Germany for the Munich Security Conference, Mr Jaishankar said that Europe should understand that India cannot have a view of Russia that is identical to the European one.

On being asked about India purchasing Russian oil, Mr Jaishankar said, “Everyone conducts a relationship based on their past experiences. If I look at the history of India post-independence, Russia has never hurt our interests.”

He said that India and Europe have talked about their stance and have not emphasised their differences. He said that Europe shifted a large part of its energy procurement to Middle East after the war erupted between Russia and Ukraine, which was until then the main supplier of energy for India and other nations.

“What should we have done? In many cases, our Middle East suppliers gave priority to Europe because Europe paid higher prices. Either we would have had no energy because everything would have gone to them. Or we would have ended up paying a lot more because you were paying more. And in a certain way, we stabilised the energy market that way,” he added.

Who Is Angkrish Raghuvanshi: Former U-19 WC Star Setting IPL 2024 On Fire

Kolkata Knight Riders found a new star in youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi as the 18-year-old slammed a half-century in just 25 deliveries during the IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. The young batter came out to bat at No. 3 for KKR and ended up hitting 5 boundaries and 3 sixes in an extremely impressive knock. He looked completely at ease against the DC bowlers and even stitched together a massive 104-run partnership with Sunil Narine. He made his IPL debut in KKR’s last match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru where he was the impact player for his side.

Raghuvanshi moved to Mumbai from Gurgaon at the age of 11 to pursue cricket and he had a tremendous campaign at the 2022 U-19 World Cup. He opened the innings and ended up scoring 278 runs in a campaign which ended with their side becoming champions under Yash Dhull‘s captaincy.

Raghuvanshi made his List A and T20 debut for Mumbai in 2023 and he was extremely impressive in the CK Nayudu Trophy where he ended up scoring 765 runs in just 9 matches. He was picked by KKR at base price in the 2024 auction and his childhood coach Abhishek Nayar is part of the team’s support staff.

Sunil Narine produced a six-hitting exhibition en route to a blistering 85 while young Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored a fifty on his IPL batting debut as Kolkata Knight Riders posted an imposing 272 for seven against Delhi Capitals.

Continuing his explosive run, Narine punished all Delhi bowlers alike, sending the ball over the boundary rope seven times. He also hit seven fours in his 39-ball stay.

The Capitals were guilty of dropping him on 53 and Narine made his opponents suffer as he notched his highest-ever score in T20 cricket.

Raghuvanshi (54 off 27 balls), who didn’t get to bat in his first IPL match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, also fired on all cylinders, complementing Narine as the pair shared an explosive 104-run stand off 48 balls.

Andre Russell (41 off 19 balls) and Rinku Singh (26 off 8 balls) provided the final flourish to KKR.

It was a forgettable performance by the Delhi bowlers as they conceded the highest total in the team’s history. KKR hit as many as 18 sixes and 28 fours.

Age is just a number for 96-year-old NS Dattatreya who will be participating in the ‘TCS World 10K Bengaluru 2024’ as the meet’s oldest runner. Dattatreya is an avid distance-runner and had previously participated in this Gold Label race scheduled to be held on April 28. Having begun his distance running journey in January 2019, the nonagenarian has taken part in dozens of marathons and walkathons. “After I ran my first marathon, I knew this was something I wanted to continue doing. It started with just wanting to keep fit and soon it turned into a lifestyle,” he said.

“There’s no point in having a lot of money if you aren’t able to enjoy it,” he added, underlining the need to pay attention to one’s health and lifestyle.

“The first thing a friend asks you when they meet you is about your health and not the money you have.” In an age where the virtual world is slowly taking over, Dattatreya believes it is important to indulge in some form of physical activity, so as to not become a burden on one’s family.

His day begins at 5.30am with a bit of warm-ups followed by cycling for about an hour.

In the evening, he is on his treadmill, joined by his son Murali after getting home from his work.

“I used to play football when I was much younger. Now I run. I have always ensured that I maintained a healthy lifestyle.

“I believe there are two things that parents can give their children — quality education and preventing themselves from becoming a burden on their family by taking care of their health through physical exercise of some form or the other.” Dattatreya has been a part of this event for the past few years and loves every bit of it.
