Watch: Dhoni Can't Help But Applaud CSK Star's Flying Catch Of Warner

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Matheesha Pathirana took a gravity-defying catch to dismiss Delhi Capitals (DC) batter David Warner in their IPL 2024 match on Sunday. Warner for the reverse scoop after Mustafizur Rahman bowled a slower delivery. While Warner seemed to have time the ball pretty well, the lack of pace on that delivery allowed Pathirana to take a leap and grab the ball with one hand. Warner had a look of disbelief on his face while CSK icon MS Dhoni lauded Pathirana for his effort.

Dhoni was seen clapping to acknowledge Pathirana and his reaction has gone viral on social media.

Coming back to the match, DC had raced to 91/1 in just nine overs, with Warner completing his half-century in 32 balls.

However, he was dismissed in the next over, courtesy of Pathirana’s brilliant catch.

This comes after DC skipper Rishabh Pant skipper won the toss and opted to bat against CSK.

While CSK decided to go the same playing XI, DC made two changes, bringing in Ishant Sharma and Prithvi Shaw in place of Kuldeep Yadav and Ricky Bhui.

“Kuldeep has a niggle,” Pant said during the toss.

Defending champions CSK won both their matches, while DC has suffered defeat in both their matches so far in this IPL.

GHMC rolls out Basti Action Plan

GHMC rolls out Basti Action Plan

Hyderabad: With growing concern regarding sanitation management in the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has rolled out a Basti Action Plan.

The primary goal of this programme is to ensure door-to-door collection of municipal solid waste and the elimination of garbage vulnerable points (GVPs).

The weekly plan will involve not just sanitation and Urban Community Development (UCD) staff, but also self-help group (SHG) members and colony residents.

With a ‘basti’ meeting on Monday where the team will discuss the goals for the week, on Tuesday households not tagged to the Swachh Auto Tippers (SATs) will be identified and counselled.

An awareness rally will be arranged the following day, to sensitise the residents of that area on the importance of handing over the waste to SATs and sanitation in general.

Further, motivational programmes and ‘rangoli’ competitions are planned on days four and five to enhance community participation.

Observing that the vendors in a colony are also major generators of waste, UCD officials will dedicate their Saturdays to understanding their sanitary challenges and finding solutions to them.

On the last day of the week, a ceremony will be conducted where the locals will make resolutions to keep their community and its surroundings clean.

“We have already started doing these programmes and it is important because without public participation we cannot do anything,” says a sanitation official.

So far, 1,333 meetings have been conducted in ‘bastis’ across the city, also involving SAT drivers and Slum-Level Federation (SLF) member

"Doesn't Feel Like It's A Hierarchy": Rachin Ravindra's Big CSK Revelation

It has been a brilliant start for Rachin Ravindra in IPL 2024 and the New Zealand all-rounder contributed massively to his side’s victories in the first two games of the competition. Ravindra got good starts on both occasions and narrowly missed out on scoring half-centuries. Ravindra was picked by CSK for Rs 1.8 crore in the auction and he believes that the mindset of the franchise that makes it so successful. The five-time champions have started the tournament on a positive note and Ravindra revealed that the team does not have a strict hierarchy and they can have good conversations with the coaches.

“It was pretty special. I think when we were watching the auction and as soon as it (getting signed by CSK) happened, I had Dave (Devon Conway) call me, Santner messaged me and then obviously, Flem (Fleming). So that’s pretty cool… a lot of the lads, not just the overseas guys, but the Indian guys are such good people. So it’s very easy to get along with people in a team like this,” Rachin said on joining CSK.

He also spoke about how Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni are always available for conversations.

“It’s more from players being able to be comfortable, players knowing their roles and quite a relaxed environment, which makes everyone feel a bit more chill and can get along a bit better, and doesn’t feel like it’s a hierarchy because you can always have a nice conversation with Flem if you want to, you can have a conversation with Hussey, you can have a conversation with MS Dhoni, you can have a conversation with Rutu. It’s all pretty chill, which for me, helps me a lot means I can come in and just not try to be anyone else. I can just be myself in that environment and let it happen,” Rachin added.

Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey said that the ‘Impact Player’ rule has lengthened their batting order, allowing former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to come in as late as number eight during this IPL.

The ‘Impact Player’ rule, introduced from 2023 edition, allows each franchise to name five substitutes, one of whom could come on as a substitute during the course of the match.

Playing against Gujarat Titans here on Tuesday, CSK managed to post a match-winning total of 206 for six.

However, with seven batters coming out to bat, there were no signs of Dhoni coming in even as his fans got a bit impatient.

“It’s definitely been a directive from head coach (Stephen) Fleming to keep pushing the game forward. The ‘Impact Player’ has lengthened the batting order, with MSD at number eight, which is crazy, and he is batting well (in the nets) at the moment,” Hussey told reporters during the post-game media interaction.

“Because of this, the batters up the order can take the positive (attacking) route. They certainly have the backing from the coaches and the captain. Even if they get out doing so, it’s fine, and they won’t be criticised. We want to keep playing fast.”

Minister holds BRS government responsible for drought

Hyderabad: In a quite surprising turn of events, Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao on Sunday blamed the previous BRS government for the scarcity conditions that prevailed in the State now.

Also alleging that no water was given even for the Kharif season by the previous government for lack of adequate rains and inflows, he claimed that the need to seek water from other States would not have arisen had the previous government acted responsibly on the water front.

The Congress government came to power on December 7, last after the end of the monsoon season, and how would it be made responsible for the present water woes.

Mismanagement of Mission Bhagiratha affecting water supply, says KCR

Suryapet: Leader of Opposition and BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao said the Congress government was failing in ensuring regular monitoring of Mission Bhagiratha, which in turn was affecting drinking water supply to households across the State.

When the BRS was in power, Smitha Sabharwal used to monitor the supply on a daily basis. But the Congress government was not ensuring such supervision.

More so, Mission Bhagiratha requires quality power supply and unfortunately this government was not delivering the required power, he said.

Asking what was wrong with the Mission Bhagiratha, which had won appreciation world over, he asked when the system was running smoothly for several years, how could the situation turn so worse in just three months.

The BRS president also dismissed the excuse cited by Congress leaders over lack of sufficient water in the reservoirs, citing poor rainfall last monsoon.

“I am on record. Telangana received six percent more rainfall than normal,” he said, stressing that it was mismanagement and inefficiency to be blamed and not rainfall.

Even when the Nagarjuna Sagar had 7 tmc of water above MDDL, farmers in the ayacut were suffering due to water shortage, he said, stating that the Congress government had surrendered itself to the KRMB, which was not the boss and was not allowed by the BRS to dictate terms that were detrimental to the State’s interests.

DC vs CSK Live Score: Pitch report

“The climatic conditions look really good for a game of cricket. Nice gentle breeze blowing across the ground and we are playing on pitch number 4, which is bang in the middle. 62m either side of the wicket, and 71m down the ground. This pitch seems to be very good for batting. Average first innings score in previous games has been 157, but that was 2019 and before so that is a bit outdated. I think the average first innings score now should be around 175-180,” reckons Darren Ganga with thoughts from Rohan Gavaskar.

DC vs CSK Live Score: Will Prithvi Shaw get a chance?

Former MLA Sunke Ravishankar leads BRS protest demanding release of water into flood flow canal

Karimnagar: BRS activists led by former MLA Sunke Ravishankar staged a dharna on Kurikal-Kondannaplli road at Kondannapalli bridge of Gangadhara mandal on Sunday, demanding the State government to release water into the Flood Flow Canal.

BRS workers and farmers from Choppadandi constituency participated in the protest. Addressing the gathering, Ravishankar wanted the government to fill the Narayanpur reservoir by releasing water into FFC from the Yellampalli project.

Then, the water would be released to standing crops. Reacting to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s comments that gates have been lifted, the MLA said the water was but nowhere to be seen and the crops had withered.

The FFC had always been like a perennial river with the water following through the year during the 10 year period of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, he said, adding Choppadandi constituency used to resemble Konaseema with the water bodies overflowing even in mid-summer.

However, lack of water and power supply, which used to be there 10 years ago, had returned with the Congress government in power, he said.
