Hyderabad: The mighty Puneri Paltan bested a young and resilient Haryana Steelers to lift their first-ever Pro Kabaddi League trophy. In an exciting finale which could have gone either way a guided performance from the Puneri Paltan took them to the trophy with a 28-25 victory over the Steelers at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday.

The defence of the Puneri Paltan gave their side an early lead after they got Haryana Steelers’ raiders Shivam Patare and Vinay. However, Goyat was then tackled by Ankit to get the Steelers on the scoreboard in the final. This boosted their confidence as Rahul Sethpal led the charge with his defending to keep the clash interesting.

The ultimate match of PKL 10 was a closely fought encounter in the first half as the Haryana Steelers had an answer to all of the Puneri Paltans’ raids. However, a moment of magic from Pankaj Mohite saw him complete a Super Raid worth four points as the Paltan contingent took a decisive lead. Ashish’s successful raid in the final seconds for the Steelers meant that the score read 10-13 heading into the final 20 minutes of season 10.

The only All Out of the finale came off Mohit Goyat’s raiding, giving the Puneri Paltan a substantial lead at the start of the second half. This did not deter the spirit of a young Haryana Steelers, as the raiders entered the action and grabbed as many bonus points as they could to get them close to Puneri Paltan.

Pankaj Mohite was the game-changer for the Puneri Paltan in the Grand Finale as the resilience of the Haryana Steelers was met with brilliance to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. Siddharth Desai got Puneri Paltan skipper Aslam Inamdar and star all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui to give his team hope but the Puneri Paltan lived up to their form to seal their maiden PKL trophy and prove their credentials of being the best team in Season 10.

No Tight-Fitting Clothes, Pets: Abu Dhabi's Hindu Temple Issues Guidelines

The temple has been made in the Nagara style of architecture, using sandstone and marble.

New Delhi:

The BAPS Hindu temple, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Abu Dhabi last month, opened for the public today. The temple website also issued a series of guidelines for visitors, including what type of clothing is preferred and what is banned and rules for photography etc.

“Cover the area of the body between the neck, the elbow, and the ankles. Caps, t-shirts, and other clothing articles with offensive designs are not allowed. Do not wear translucent or tight-fitting clothing. Avoid clothing articles and accessories that make distracting noises or reflections,” the guidelines said.

Pets are also not allowed inside the temple structure. Outside food and drinks are not permitted within the temple premises. Also, drones are strictly prohibited within the temple premises.

These guidelines are necessary to be followed “to preserve the tranquil ambience and ensure the orderly management of our premises,” the temple authorities said.

The iconic structure – the first Hindu Temple In Abu Dhabi – was built by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) on a 27-acre site in Abu Mureikhah, near Al Rahba off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway at a cost of around Rs 700 crore.

On February 14, PM Modi inaugurated the architectural marvel in a grand ceremony attended by almost 5,000 people.

“The wait is over! #AbuDhabiMandir is now open for all visitors and worshipers,” a post on X handle by the BAPS Hindu Mandir handle (@AbuDhabiMandir) said along with a video of the temple.

The temple has been made in the Nagara style of architecture, using sandstone and marble.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is the largest in the Gulf region. The UAE – which has at least 3.5 million Indians who are part of the Indian workforce in the Gulf – has three other Hindu temples in Dubai.

Bengaluru cafe blast was due to IED, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the blast that occurred at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s IT hub Whitefield on Friday was due to an improvised explosive device (IED).

At least nine persons were injured in the blast.

Talking to reporters at Hassan, the Chief Minister said that he has been informed that it is an improvised explosive device (IED) blast.

“CCTV footage is being examined and police are carrying out an investigation. I have asked the Home Minister (Dr. G. Parameshwara) to visit the spot,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the explosive was kept in a bag abandoned by the suspect.

“The police are gathering information from the cashier about the person, as he had got the token from the cashier, got the food, and later kept the bag near the hand wash.

“These incidents have taken place at all times. They should not happen. The state had not witnessed such an incident for a long time. The last incident was the Mangaluru cooker blast incident, it was also a small incident. This is the first incident after the Congress government came to power,” CM Siddaramaiah said.

He asserted that the culprits will be found and strict action will be taken against them, and there should not be any politics in these matters.

“We will initiate harsh action,” he stated.

State DGP Alok Mohan said that they had contacted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB), and police and the FSL teams are conducting an investigation at the site.

The blast took place at around 1.15 p.m. when many people had gathered at the cafe, located in the Kundalahalli Gate area near Whitefield, as it was the lunch hour.

Vikramaditya Singh Tried To Influence Other MLAs: Himachal Chief Minister

Vikramaditya Singh Tried To Influence Other MLAs: Himachal Chief Minister

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also shared that he had a word with Vikramaditya Singh (File)

Amid the political crisis in Himachal Pradesh, especially over Congress MLA Vikramaditya Singh’s resignation, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said he had a discussion with the rebel Congress leader during the cabinet meeting on Thursday following which Vikramaditya Singh went to Chandigarh.

“Vikramaditya Singh was in the cabinet meeting yesterday. I had a discussion with him. After the cabinet meeting, he went to Chandigarh and met other legislators at Lalit Hotel there. He has tried to influence the minds of other (rebel) MLAs. Some of them want to come back to the Congress,” the Chief Minister told ANI on Friday.

Mr Sukhu also shared that he had a word with Vikramaditya Singh, a former royal and also the son of six-time chief minister Late Virbhadra Singh.

“I had a word with him (Vikramaditya Singh) in the morning at 7 am, then again at noon. I have told him to speak with the high command as well,” the Chief Minister said.

Mr Sukhu said that while one of the rebel MLAs had telephoned him and shared his interest to come back to the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is taking all steps to topple the Congress government in the hill state, has allegedy stationed more CRPF troops at Panchkula’s Lalit Hotel where the six rebel Congress MLAs are currently staying.

“One of the MLAs rang me up and told me that he wants to come back to the Congress. But he can only come back when he is within Himchal’s boundary. He is at Panchkula’s Lalit Hotel. I have just heard that more CRPF personnel have been stationed there,” the Chief Minister said.

Mr Sukhu said that he will welcome the rebel Congress MLA who wants to come back to the Congress’ fold but they will not take any coercive measures.

“When he has made up his mind, he may come and we will welcome him. It is not in Himachal’s culture to force someone. Hooliganism is not in Himachal’s culture,” he said.

The six MLAs who have been disqualified after they crossvoted in the Rajya Sabha polls are Sudhir Sharma, Rajinder Rana, Davinder K Bhutto, Ravi Thakur, Chaitanya Sharma and Inder Dutt Lakhanpal.

The crossvoting led to a surprise win by BJP’s candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Vikramaditya Singh who on Wednesday took back his resignation as a minister in the state continues to keep the Congress top brass guessing.

After the 2022 Assembly elections, the Congress had 40 MLAs, while the BJP had 25 in the 68-member state assembly. The remaining three seats are held by independents.

With the six rebel MLAs disqualified the strength of the house comes down from 68 to 62 and the halfway mark is 32. With the loss of 6 MLAs the Congress now has 34 MLAs and the BJP with independents has 28. The fortunes of the Congress will now rest on its ability to keep the rest of its flock together.

Hezbollah drone hits Israeli troops' gathering

Hezbollah drone directly hit the Zionists gathering in the Ma’ayan Baruch settlement, according to the Lebanese Resistance group’s statement.

The Lebanese Resistance movement has been conducting regular raids since early October against the Israeli regime’s military position in retaliation for the occupying regime’s offensives against Gaza and southern Lebanon.

Israel waged its brutal war on besieged Gaza on October 7 after Hamas carried out an unprecedented operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed nearly 30,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured at least 68,883 others.

Israel has imposed a complete siege on the densely populated territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

"I Am A Misfit": Trinamool's Kunal Ghosh Says Wants To Quit Party Posts

'I Am A Misfit': Trinamool's Kunal Ghosh Says Wants To Quit Party Posts

Kunal Ghosh said he is a soldier of the party and will continue to work for the party (File)

Kolkata:

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh, vocal about giving next-generation leaders more prominence in the party, said he wants to resign from all posts and slammed a section of old guards in the party for being hand-in-glove with the BJP.

Mr Ghosh, who holds the post of the party’s spokesperson and its state general secretary, said he feels he is a misfit within the system while dismissing rumours of him joining any other party.

“I don’t want to stay in the post of the state general secretary and spokesperson. I am a misfit in the system. I am unable to continue like this. I am a soldier of the party and will continue to work for the party. Please stop this rumour that I am planning to join another party,” he posted on X.

Later, speaking to a Bengali news channel, he slammed a section of senior party leaders for insulting him and behaving as if it was a “fiefdom of few leaders”.

“They are behaving as if TMC is a fiefdom of a few leaders. In North Kolkata, we have Sudip Bandopadhyay who is more of a BJP leader than a TMC MP. He is behaving like another Shajahan Sheikh. He is soft towards the BJP because of corruption cases being probed by the BJP,” he said.

Shajahan Sheikh, a former TMC leader, is one of the key accused in the Sandeshkhali case.

“Across Bengal, TMC is fighting against the BJP in 41 out of the 42 Lok Sabha seats. But in North Kolkata, it is BJP versus BJP as Sudip Bandopadhyay is hand-in-gloves with the BJP,” he said.

Mr Bandopadhyay was unavailable for comment.

Mr Ghosh, considered close to Abhishek Banerjee, said last year that the old guard needs to know when to step aside for the next generation.

Following this, Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee cracked a whip and issued a stern warning instructing party leaders to abstain from publicly discussing differences, emphasising that any violation may lead to disciplinary action.

The controversy erupted in November when Ms Banerjee advocated for respecting senior members and dismissed the notion that old leaders should retire from active politics.

TMC national general secretary and Ms Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, endorsed a retirement age in politics and cited a decline in work efficiency and productivity with advancing age.

The party appears divided on the issue, with senior leaders not willing to embrace the maximum age limit theory proposed by Abhishek Banerjee, and the young brigade seeking more space in the party.

This ongoing controversy recalls a two-year-old internal struggle within the TMC between the old guard and the younger faction.

In January 2022, amid rumours of an alleged power struggle, Mamata Banerjee dissolved all national office-bearer committees, including the post of National General Secretary held by her nephew.

Subsequently, a new committee was formed, and Abhishek Banerjee was reinstated as the party’s National General Secretary.

Since then, he has not only gained prominence within the party but is also considered the de facto number two in the state’s ruling dispensation.
