Previously, he also shared a picture on X alongside his wife, Eiko Suzuki, saying, ”We are in Varanasi”.

Internet users loved his post and many praised Mr Suzuki for his genuine interest in Indian culture. Many also suggested him to try other popular dishes of the place. One user wrote, ”This is sweet. I liked how the Ambassador is making efforts to promote India.”

Another commented, ”Try Banarasi paan too. I am sure you will not regret it.”

A third said, ”Sir, we are happy at your gracing the nation’s hospitality.” A fourth added, ”I hope you have an amazing trip with a lot of memories and happiness to remember.” Yet another suggested, ”Taste chats at local shops and malaiyo which is the exclusive dessert of Varanasi.”

Notably, the envoy arrived in India last year and has since become a social media sensation for his love of Indian food. On multiple occasions, videos of the 61-year-old ambassador enjoying Indian delicacies have gone viral. A few days back, he explored North-Eastern food and shared his experience on X.

He posted a video and shared that he had a Naga meal prepared by chef Joel Basumatari. “Enjoyed a wonderful dinner prepared by Nagaland’s star chef Mr. Joel Basumatari. Chef Joel promotes North Eastern cuisine around the world. Wish him great success in the future!!” he wrote in the caption of the X post.

Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad on Saturday hoped that Team India would start winning championships in the coming year. Prasad took to X and said that 2023 was a year of “What could have been” for Rohit Sharma’s side. He added that the ‘Men in Blue’ dominated the whole ODI World Cup 2023 but had a bad day in the final match of the tournament against Australia. The former cricketer also pointed out India’s sloppy performance in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

“It’s been a year of ‘What could have been’ for Team India. Dominated the World Cup only to have a very bad day when it mattered in the finals. Lost the WTC finals as well. Travis Head was brilliant in both these games. Hope in the coming year, India starts winning Championships which has alluded them for more than a decade now. Wishing the best for Team India in the coming year and always,” Prasad wrote.

India last won a major ICC tournament back in 2013 – the ICC Champions Trophy. In 2023, the ‘Men in Blue’ reached the final of ICC Cricket World Cup at home. They reached the finals of the 2019-21 and 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship, but have failed to win any of these tournaments.

"Ye Bhai Gaya…": Axar Reveals New Details On Pant's 'Fateful' Accident

Saturday marked one year of the horrific car crash suffered by India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. The mishap took place as Pant’s car hit a divider in the Delhi-Roorkee highway. The southpaw received serious injuries but was lucky to somehow escape from his burning car, thanks to the timely help given by a passerby. Pant’s India and Delhi Capitals (DC) teammate Axar Patel has now revealed new details of the “fateful” accident that has still kept the wicketkeeper-batter away from competitive cricket.

“Subah 7 ya 8 baje mere phone pe ring baji. Pratima di ka phone aya. Pratima di ne mujhe pucha ki ‘teri Rishabh se kab baat hui thi last?’ Mene bola ‘nahi, kal karne wala tha lekin kal nahi ki mene’. ‘Are uski mummy ka number ho toh mereko send kar, uska accident ho gaya hai’. Matlab pehla thought mereko aaya ki ye bhai gaya (Early morning I got a call from sister Pratima. She asked me when did I talk to Rishabh Pant last? I told her that I was about to talk to him last day but I did not. Pratima said that she needed Pant’s mother’s contact number as the player has met an accident. At the first time, I though he is gone),” said Axar in a video uploaded by DC showing the timeline of Pant’s accident and recovery.

Pant is recovery well in a bid to make a return in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He was with the DC franchise in the auction table on December 19 this year in Dubai.

As Pant continues to work on his recovery, he recently opened up on the car crash, admitting that he is lucky to be alive.

“The kind of accident I had I am lucky to be alive. The first part of recovery was so challenging with lots of pain but now recovery is going well,” Pant said in a video posted by the IPL on X.

“More from a physical point of view because in the starting there was a lot of pain to be endured. But just looking forward to the journey till now. I think it’s been going really well from a recovery point of view.

“I felt like I couldn’t face people and all, and I felt like I had to do something which gives me confidence and I wanted to support my team at the same time because I’ve been playing for them. I love my team all the way, so I wanted to show my support even in the worst times. So that was the idea and I think it’s part of the recovery process.”

Manchester United Misery Mounts In Nottingham Forest Defeat

Manchester United’s miserable season hit a new low as they crashed to a dismal 2-1 defeat at Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Erik ten Hag’s side produced a wretched display that was punished by Morgan Gibbs-White’s late winner at the City Ground. Nicolas Dominguez had put Forest ahead in the second half before Marcus Rashford equalised with just his third goal of a woeful campaign. United’s fourth loss in their last six games in all competitions left them languishing in seventh place in the Premier League, nine points adrift of the top four.

United’s stirring fightback from two goals down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 on Tuesday had been heralded as the start of a new era just days after Jim Ratcliffe’s investment in the troubled club.

British billionaire Ratcliffe purchased a 25 percent stake in United for around £1.03 billion ($1.3 billion) on Christmas Eve.

Ratcliffe’s INEOS Group will take control of United’s football operations from unpopular owners the Glazer family.

But despite Ten Hag’s claim on Friday that Ratcliffe wants to work with him, this was the latest evidence that the new regime might consider dismissing the beleaguered Dutchman.

INEOS’s head of sport Dave Brailsford was watching alongside the club’s former boss Alex Ferguson at the City Ground as United were beaten by Forest for the first time since 1994.

Ten Hag will have to oversee a significant improvement in United’s results and performances to avoid the axe.

Forest moved five points clear of the relegation zone after Nuno Espirito Santo masterminded his second successive high-profile victory.

Nuno’s first win as Forest boss after replacing the sacked Steve Cooper came against Newcastle, but this was an even bigger scalp.

Turgid United

After their slow start against Villa, Ten Hag’s men once again laboured to find any rhythm as passes went astray with alarming regularity.

Forest had conceded more goals than any other Premier League team in 2023, but it took 32 minutes for United to muster their first shot.

Even then, Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s deflected effort trickled tamely to Forest keeper Matt Turner.

Ten Hag’s furrowed brow as he stood glumly on the touchline painted a vivid picture of United’s struggles.

Elanga was allowed to leave United in the close-season, while the underachieving Antony, hand-picked by Ten Hag from his old club Ajax, remains in the team.

However, it was Elanga, playing with a point to prove, who looked the more dynamic force and it was no surprise when Antony was hauled off after 53 minutes, leaving the Brazilian without a goal or assist in 21 appearances.

United striker Rasmus Hojlund, who scored his first Premier League goal to seal the Villa victory, was sidelined due to illness.

Rashford, playing as United’s central striker in Hojlund’s absence, might have ended up on the scoresheet, but he hardly looked convincing in the role.

Diogo Dalot fired against the post from 25 yards as United finally pieced together an incisive attack.

But United’s turgid display got what it deserved in the 64th minute when Gonzalo Montiel’s pass picked out Dominguez and he slotted a cool finish past Andre Onana from 12 yards.

As Forest fans serenaded Ten Hag with chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning”, United’s Alejandro Garnacho looped a half-volley onto the roof of the net from Bruno Fernandes’ corner.

Turner gifted United an equaliser with 12 minutes left when his woeful pass was intercepted by Garnacho, who teed up Rashford to fire past the red-faced keeper from 10 yards.

But even that belated Christmas present wasn’t enough to save United, who combusted again in the 82nd minute.

Undone by sloppy marking as Elanga provided the assist, United stood statuesque as Gibbs-White curled a superb strike past Onana from the edge of the area.

Making amends for his earlier mistake, Turner saved from Fernandes in stoppage-time to leave United in turmoil.

Topless Massages To Private Flights: Top Wildest CEO Moments Of 2023

Topless Massages To Private Flights: Top Wildest CEO Moments Of 2023

The jaw-dropping CEO moments this year (File)

Another year, another endless news cycle driven by the world’s top corporate executives, with moments ranging from cringe-worthy to downright bizarre.

While some CEOs seemed to relish the spotlight, Elon Musk chief among them, others were inadvertently thrust into social media’s harsh glare.

Here are some of the most high-profile management misadventures:

The Muskiest moment

Of all the jaw-dropping Musk moments this year, the pinnacle came on stage at the New York Times DealBook Summit when he told advertisers that have stopped spending on X to go “f-” themselves. “Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience” he added, calling out Bob Iger, the CEO of Walt Disney Co. – one company among many that distanced itself after Musk endorsed an antisemitic post in November.

Still, if advertisers leave X, the platform’s failure will be their fault, not his, Musk said, calling their retreat a form of blackmail. He said he won’t “tap dance” to prove he’s trustworthy.

Billionaire cage match bluff

In June, Musk challenged Mark Zuckerberg to what perhaps passes for a duel in 2023, posting on X: “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.” The peculiar invitation came shortly after news surfaced that Meta Platforms Inc. was set to release Threads as a competitor to X.

Zuckerberg, who practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, readily agreed. Musk advertised a showdown in Vegas in August, and then started a rumor it might actually be staged in the Colosseum in Rome, which Italy’s culture minister promptly debunked. But Musk began making excuses as the summer weeks slid by, saying he might need surgery for his neck/back/shoulder. Zuckerberg eventually called his bluff, saying it was “time to move on.”

OpenAI’s about-face

The abrupt firing and rehiring of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman by the board played out over the course of a long weekend. The whole thing was pretty bizarre, with some of the drama unfolding on social media. Between angry investors and employees, virtually all of whom threatened to quit, the board beat a hasty retreat.

As rumors swirled that he might return, Altman posted a photo of himself at the San Francisco office wearing a guest badge: “first and last time i ever wear one of these.” In an especially strange twist, one of the ouster’s leaders, OpenAI co-founder and Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever, later recanted and pledged to “do everything” he could to reunite the company. Altman replied with three red hearts.

The view from Acapulco

When Stellantis NV and UAW leadership met in August, Mark Stewart, the company’s chief operating officer for North America wasn’t physically present – he Zoomed in from Acapulco, Mexico, where he has a second home. That didn’t go over well with workers who resented the executive’s calls for employees to temper bargaining demands in the name of economic realism.

The UAW’s deft new communications team – which includes veterans of Senator Bernie Sanders’ runs for the Democratic nomination for president – seized on the faux pas. Pro-union social media accounts later spread footage and photos of a sunglasses-wearing Stewart smiling by the beach. He made it to the next meeting in person.

Leave “pity city” behind

A short video of office furniture maker MillerKnoll Inc. CEO Andi Owen chastising staff for fixating on end-of-year bonuses ricocheted around the internet in April. “Spend your time and your effort thinking about the $26 million we need, and not thinking about what are you going to do if you don’t get a bonus,” Owen said in the video, referring to an internal metric. “I had an old boss who said to me one time, ‘You can visit pity city, but you can’t live there.’ So people, leave pity city.”

Owen sent an email to staff and met with leaders across the company after the backlash, according to a person familiar with the situation. “Andi fiercely believes in this team and all we can accomplish together, and will not be dissuaded by a 90-second clip taken out of context and posted on social media,” MillerKnoll spokesperson Kris Marubio said in an emailed statement.

Management’s massage time

In October, Tony Fernandes, co-founder of AirAsia and a top executive there, went to LinkedIn to post a picture of himself, shirtless, getting a massage while sitting at a conference room table. “Got to love Indonesia and AirAsia culture that I can have a massage and do a management meeting,” he wrote. Online followers quickly spoke out, with some commentators calling it inappropriate for an executive to indulge in bare-chested personal care while also purportedly running the company. One person said she didn’t think women at his company “would be comfortable or safe in this context, and given you’re the boss, they likely won’t challenge you or say anything.”

Fernandes said he’d just endured an 18-hour flight and was in pain, and that the massage was a spontaneous suggestion by somebody in the Indonesia operation. He deleted the post while apologizing: “I didn’t mean to offend anyone.”

Not enough discretion with an indiscretion

BP Plc CEO Bernard Looney resigned in September over the failure to fully disclose past relationships with colleagues, forfeiting as much as £32.4 million ($41.4 million) in pay. BP said at the time that its board reviewed allegations relating to Looney’s past personal relationships with colleagues in 2022, finding no breaches of the company’s code of conduct. But then further allegations of a similar nature came to light, and Looney informed the company that he hadn’t been fully transparent with the previous investigation, the company said.

On his exit, Looney said in a statement he was “proud” of what he achieved as CEO, but was “disappointed with the way this situation has been handled.” BP doesn’t prohibit executive relationships. The new interim CEO, Murray Auchincloss, is also in a relationship with another BP employee, a company spokesperson said at the time, but had disclosed it previously.

The flight must go on

United Airlines Holdings Inc. canceled 751 flights on one day in June – more than any other airline – and its hub airport in Denver was among the hardest hit. But CEO Scott Kirby was able to bypass the congestion by taking a private jet to Denver from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey that day, prompting an apology.

“Taking a private jet was the wrong decision because it was insensitive to our customers who were waiting to get home,” Kirby said in an emailed statement. “I sincerely apologize to our customers and our team members who have been working around-the-clock for several days – often through severe weather – to take care of our customers.”

Not parting with that paycheck

Former Silicon Valley Bank CEO Greg Becker refused to commit to giving up his $10 million pay after the bank collapsed in March. Lawmakers pointed out that the bank failures cost the government’s bedrock deposit insurance fund billions of dollars, which will have to be replenished by other lenders.

Though he took the brunt of the criticism, Becker told the Senate Banking Committee that unprecedented events, interest-rate hikes and negative social media coverage rather than mismanagement were the root causes of the firm’s demise. Becker said he’d work with regulators to review compensation, but wouldn’t pledge to give anything back despite being pressed repeatedly to do so.

The HBO troll

Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO and Max content, apologized for using fake X accounts to troll TV critics who gave bad reviews to the network’s shows, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. According to the Times, Bloys said his passion for his company’s programming – and too much time on social media during the Covid-19 pandemic – led him to do it and he concluded it was “a very, very dumb idea.”

The posts, first reported in Rolling Stone, were surfaced in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by a former HBO employee. Bloys apologized to the journalists named in the article and said he now sends direct messages to those he disagrees with.

Pre-pink slip digital detox

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff says he took a 10-day trip to French Polynesia for a so-called digital detox ahead of the company’s mass layoff of about 8,000 staff. A digital detox is when someone forgoes phones or computers for a period of time to feel more present and less dependent on technology and social media.

In a letter to employees at the time, Benioff said the company hired too many workers during the pandemic, which he took responsibility for. But Benioff also appeared tone-deaf, arriving late to a meeting the day after the layoff, joking, “did I miss something?” Some pointed out the irony of the sudden job cuts next to Benioff’s frequent characterization of the company as an Ohana, a Hawaiian term for family.
