Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Nirajan Reddy on Wednesday came down heavily on the Congress party leadership for the scant regard it had demonstrated for farmers at its public meeting at Kolhapur.

Addressing a media conference at Telangana Bhavan, he said the farmers should be wary of the evil designs of the Congress leaders. They would be deprived of benefits extended by the BRS government if the Congress was given an opportunity to make a comeback. The Congress leaders were sounding highly skeptical of the Rythu Bandhu programme, which was considered one of the world’s best pro-farmer initiatives. He recalled that the Palamuru region was deprived of Krishna water by the Congress rulers in the undivided State.

“They were now looking at Rythu Bandhu as a wasteful expenditure,” he said, adding that the BRS government had disbursed Rs.72,815 crore of Rythu Bandhu assistance in 11 installments to the farmers. Farmers had received a compensation of Rs 5566 crore under Rythu Bima.

He recalled that the government agencies had purchased 772.92 lakh metric tonnes of grain worth Rs 1.33 lakh crore. The government had also spent Rs 5349 crore restoring ponds and minor irrigation tanks under Mission Kakatiya thus stabilizing the minor irrigation ayacut of 15.05 lakh acres.

The government was providing round the clock power supply to the farmers free of cost spending over Rs 10,500 crore per annum. Over 58 lakh farmers were benefitted by Rs 29,144.61 crore from loan waiver implemented in two installments since 2014.

The efforts made in the direction of supplying genuine and quality seed and fertilizers had paid dividends. Telangana had emerged as model state for seed development.

Promoting new courses in agriculture sciences, the State had set up 11 agriculture and horticulture Colleges during the last ten years. The Congress party will never be able to come to power in Telangana just by indulging in personal accusations.

He said the Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi seemed to be blind to rapid strides made in different sectors including the farm sector under the BRS rule.

Iran FM calls on Muslim govts. to take ‘effective’ action against Israel

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has called on Muslim nations to take “immediate and effective” action to put an end to Israel’s war crimes in the Gaza Strip and its blockade on the small territory.

Amir-Abdollahian also called for sending humanitarian aid to the war-stricken coastal strip, during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he also hailed Erdogan’s support for Gaza and recent massive pro-Palestine rallies held across Turkey.

The Iranian minister, who was on a visit to the Turkish capital Ankara, also called for an emergency meeting of heads of Muslim and Arab countries on the situation in Gaza.

Israel has been pounding Gaza since October 7, killing nearly 8,800 Palestinians, including more than 3,600 children.

In one of the latest attacks, the regime on Wednesday hit the Jabalia refugee camp north of the Gaza strip for a second time, killing and injuring dozens of people.

It came a day after at least 400 people were killed or injured in the first strike on the refugee camp.

Amir-Abdollahian warned the war against the defenseless Palestinians could any moment spread to other parts of the region, stressing that the responsibility for that would rest with the US government and the Israeli regime.

The Iranian minister said Palestinian resistance forces have informed Iran that they possess the military capabilities needed for a long battle with the regime.

Amir-Abdollahian pointed to US demand that countries show restraint over the situation in Gaza, saying the US is not in a place to call for calm as it directly participates in the planning of Israel’s brutal attacks on Palestinians.

“The US, as a party to the war on Gaza, is in no position to urge other sides to show restraint,” he said.

The Turkish president, for his part, said all should work to create mechanisms aimed at protecting the security of the Palestinian people.

He said Turkey’s current priority is to help stop attacks on Gaza , remove the blockade and send humanitarian aid to Palestinians trapped in the strip.

During his stay in Ankara, Amir-Abdollahian also met and addressed a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Amir-Abdollahian’s visit to Turkey was meant to discuss the situation in Palestine, regional developments and bilateral relations.

He traveled to Qatar before visiting Turkey to discuss the Gaza war and ways to put pressure on Israel to end the bloodshed.

Gaza's only cancer hospital goes out of service amid Israeli bombings

Health officials say the only cancer treatment hospital in the Gaza Strip has gone out of service after it ran out of fuel amid the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the besieged enclave.

Subhi Skaik, the director of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital said during a press briefing on Wednesday that the hospital, which mainly treats cancer patients, had used up its fuel and was now out of service.

“We tell the world don’t leave cancer patients to a certain death due to the hospital being out of service,” the director, Subhi Skaik, was quoted as saying

Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila in a statement confirmed that this brings the total number of hospitals not operating right now in the Strip to 16 out of 35.

“The lives of 70 cancer patients inside the hospital are seriously threatened,” the statement read

“The number of cancer patients in the Gaza Strip is about 2,000 living in catastrophic health conditions as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip and the displacement of a large number,” al-Kaila added.

Urgent final call for assistance

Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry has issued an urgent final call for assistance as the al-Shifaa Hospital and Indonesian Hospital faced a critical shortage of fuel on Tuesday evening.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra, emphasized the urgent need for intervention from the international community to save the lives of those in the hospitals.

“Plea, plea, to all countries of the world to take urgent action to save the wounded and sick in al-Shifaa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital, as we are only a few hours away from stopping the main generators in Al-Shifaa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital, and this is what we feared and warned against repeatedly,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, al-Qudra warned that the discontinuation of the generators would have severe consequences for over 650 kidney failure patients at Al-Shifaa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital, as well as 62 individuals relying on artificial respiration in intensive care units, and 42 newborn babies in need of life support equipment in the children’s incubators.

“This is the final call to all the free people of the world, to all the countries of the world, to our Arab and Islamic peoples and countries, and to the international community of all sects. Everyone must move and intervene urgently to save the wounded and sick in the Gaza Strip” Al-Qudra added

United Nations experts warned against ‘collective punishment’ for the people of Gaza, before predicting a ‘humanitarian crisis’ and then claimed that ‘hell is settling in’ for the region.

Israel has performed a new deadly airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp north of the Gaza Strip as the regime continues its atrocities against Palestinians for 26 days.

The new attack on Jabalia killed and injured dozens of people. That comes a day after at least 400 people were killed or injured in the first strike on the refugee camp.

Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, condemned the Israeli attack on the Jabalia refugee camp. He underlined that the ongoing resistance operation against the Israeli regime was the beginning of the liberation of Palestine.

Israeli attack on Jabalia refugee camp condemned globally

Israel’s deadly attack on the densely-populated Jabalia refugee camp has drawn international condemnation even from the regime’s allies.

The European Union’s top diplomat Josep Borrell says he is appalled by the high number of casualties. He, however, reiterated the bloc’s support for Israel.

Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf has decried the attacks as blatant disregard for human life.

The Tuesday attack also left China deeply shocked, with its Foreign Ministry calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates also made similar calls.

Saudi Arabia said the dangerous humanitarian situation in Gaza can’t be justified at all, while Qatar warned against the expansion of Israeli attacks to include civilian targets.

Jordan and Egypt have also strongly condemned Israel’s inhumane targeting of the camp.

Meanwhile, Iran has described the strike as another stain on the long list of Israel’s war crimes.

Since October 7, Israeli attacks on Gaza have claimed the lives of nearly 8,800 people, including more than 3,600 children.

Tamil Nadu Forest Department Uses AI To Track Elephant Movements

This area has seen several tragic elephant deaths due to collisions with trains.

Chennai:

The Tamil Nadu Forest Department’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) based surveillance mechanism, established on a pilot project basis, started recording elephant movements on railway track in Madhukkarai in Coimbatore, a senior government official said on Wednesday.

The surveillance system has 12 towers fitted with both thermal and normal cameras, installed at strategic locations along the railway track for early detection of animal movement, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment Climate Change & Forests, Supriya Sahu, said.

“The sensed data is automatically transferred to the control room set up on the site that processes the data collected from the field on real-time basis and alerts loco pilots through calls and SMS,” she said in a post on the social media platform “X”.

This area has seen several tragic elephant deaths due to collisions with trains. “We are trying our best to prevent these collisions through the use of modern technology, which can be a big boon in preventing elephant deaths in such areas,” Supriya Sahu said posting a video.

About 105 members of BJP from Thummala Penphad joined the BRS in the presence of the Energy Minister at a programme in Suryapet. Israel massacring Palestinians to cover up defeats: Hamas

The head of the political bureau of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh, speaking in a televised speech on Wednesday, said Israel was “committing barbaric massacres against unarmed civilians,” vowing that “villainy will not save them from resounding defeat.”

Hamas launched a surprise operation into the Israeli-occupied territories last month in response to Israel’s minting atrocities.

Afterward, Israel launched an intensive bombing campaign against the Gaza Strip, which has so far left 8,796 people dead, including 3,648 children.

‘Israeli bombardment kills captives’

Haniyeh warned that the Israeli massacre costs the regime the lives of its own prisoners who are under heavy shelling in Gaza.

He said that Israeli captives held in the besieged Gaza Strip were subject to the same death and destruction that Palestinians have been facing.

Hamas has reported that dozens of Israelis remain captive under Israeli bombardments. It says those bombardments should stop to allow for talks with the regime on an exchange of captives.

‘Palestinians defeat Israel’s project’

Haniyeh hailed the resilience of the Palestinians in the face of relentless Israeli bombardments, saying they had defeated the Zionist’s project to bring about a new Nakba (Catastrophe) and mass displacement.

Haniyeh said that ahead of the October 7 operation, Hamas had warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “and his fascist [cabinet] will continue their contentious policies.”

The Hamas leader cited the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank as well as increased settler violence and attacks on al-Aqsa mosque in al-Quds as instances of such policies.

China: ‘Deeply shocked’ by Israel’s massive airstrikes on refugee camp in Gaza

China says it has been “deeply shocked” by a barrage of Israel’s airstrikes on a refugee camp near Gaza City in the war-torn Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate ceasefire before the regime’s war machine claims more lives in the besieged Palestinian enclave.

Dozens of Palestinians have reportedly been killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Jabalia refugee camp on Wednesday, the second attack on the camp in less than 24 hours, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The report said airstrikes hit the residential area of Faluja in the camp, adding that several US-made bombs were used on the district, less than 24 hours after the first bombardment of the camp that leveled apartment buildings, leaving people, including children, buried in the rubble.

Jabalia is the largest of the Gaza Strip’s UN refugee camps housing people forcibly expelled by Zionist militia and Israel in 1948. The area is reportedly home to nearly 120,000 people.

At a daily news briefing in Beijing on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin strongly condemned the brutal attack, calling for an immediate ceasefire.

“China is deeply shocked by the attacks on the refugee camps in Gaza and strongly condemns this. China calls for utmost calm and restraint from relevant parties, especially Israel, and urges them to implement the UN resolution adopted on October 27, stop fighting immediately, do everything possible to protect civilians, open up corridors for humanitarian assistance as soon as possible and avert an even worse humanitarian disaster,” he said.

“China will play a positive and constructive role at the UN Security Council to help end the fighting, ensure the safety of civilians and strive for a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question at an early date,” Wang added.

Israeli warplanes, naval boats and artillery kept pounding Gaza on Wednesday, inflicting more casualties on the civilian population.

The civilian death toll in Gaza and desperate humanitarian conditions have caused great concern across the world as food, fuel, drinking water and medicine are running short.

On October 7, Israel launched a full-scale war on the impoverished Gaza Strip, where shortages of food, water, and medicine threaten the lives of Gazans and hospitals are overwhelmed amid incessant Israeli bombings.

The ceaseless airstrikes, missile attacks and shelling on Gaza have killed, as of Wednesday, 8,796 Palestinians, including 3,648 children and 2,290 women, and wounded at least 22,219 others, according to officials.

Around 2,000 people are still missing, including 1,100 children. The vast majority of these people are believed to be dead and buried under rubble.

"The Way I See Things…": Suniel Shetty On 70-Hour Workweek Suggestion

'The Way I See Things...': Suniel Shetty On 70-Hour Workweek Suggestion

“It’s about going beyond your comfort zone,” Mr Shetty said.

Infosys founder Narayana Murthy created a social media stir after suggesting that India’s youngsters must work for 70 hours every week in a bid to boost the country’s overall work productivity. His remarks sparked a national debate and invited both harsh criticism and voices of agreement. While some prominent business leaders backed Mr Muthy’s workweek schedule, others on the internet slammed the billionaire and called his proposed work schedule inhumane. Now, actor and businessman Suniel Shetty has also shared his two cents on the issue.

In a LinkedIn Post, Mr Shetty said that the way he sees things when someone like Mr Murthy says something people should listen carefully, analyse it for themselves, and take the best out of it. “Even though this is a contentious issue, it’s important to stop & think about what he really meant. For me, it really isn’t about the number of hours. It isn’t about 70 or 100 hour weeks. The way I read his thoughts is simple – It’s about going beyond your comfort zone,” he wrote.

Further, Mr Shetty cited examples of Abdul Kalam, Ratan Tata, Amitabh Bachchan, and Virat Kohli as individuals who excelled in their respective fields. “Do we really think any of these individuals got to where they did in life, by playing within their comfort zones? Do we really think any of these individuals spent the early years of their careers worrying about whether they were striking the right balance between work & life?” he wrote.

The actor backed Mr Murthy’s 70-hour workweek schedule, saying, “Why I see Mr Murthy’s statement for what it was really trying to convey, is because I do believe that young adults should spend their earliest years pushing their boundaries”. He also highlighted that honing skills, acquiring new ones, dealing with pressure, learning about other functions, working in collaborative environments and generally making the most of the opportunities, should be top priorities for all young adults.

Mr Shetty concluded by saying that while it is important to have time for family, health, hobbies, friends as well as other things, it is also true that the world is evolving rapidly. “Technology and AI are reshaping the world more than we can imagine. And we need to keep getting better. My dear future leaders – thrive for excellence, put in the hard work and cultivate your skills. Find mentors, build networks and invest in soft skills. The rest will fall into place,” he said.

Notably, Narayana Murthy commented about the work culture while speaking to former Infosys CEO Mohandas Pai on the first episode of 3one4 Capital’s podcast ‘The Record’. He drew parallels to Japan and Germany, countries that implemented the extended working hours. He also talked about other topics like nation-building, technology, his company Infosys and others.

Power hungry Congress spreading false propaganda against KCR: Takkallapalli

The BRS leaders are speaking at a media conference at Nalgonda on Wednesday.

Nalgonda: BRS MLC Takkallapalli Ravinder Rao on Wednesday said power hungry Congress leaders were intentionally making false allegations against BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his family members to tarnish their image ahead of the elections.

Along with Nalgonda MLA Kancherla Bhupal Reddy, Zilla Parishad chairman Banda Narender Reddy and Chada Kishan Reddy, the BRS MLC addressed a press conference here and strongly condemned the allegations made by the Congress leaders against the Chief Minister’s family.

The development of Telangana was far better than of the States being ruled by the Congress and BJP, he added.

BRS Nalgonda candidate Kancherla Bhupal Reddy said the Chief Minister had laid special focus on development of Nalgonda after the people presented him victory with a majority of 23,500 votes in 2018. The Chief Minister had fulfilled all promises made to the people of Nalgonda in 2018.

In the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian congratulated Turkey on its National Day and conveyed the greetings of President of Iran Ebrahim Raeisi to the President of Turkey.

He added the US is a party to the war against Gaza and is not in a position to advise others to exercise restraint.

The Iranian minister emphasized, “The Resistance movements in the region decide independently and if the war against the defenseless people of Gaza is not stopped immediately, there is a risk of the spread of it to other parts of the region at any moment, and the American government and the Zionist regime have to shoulder the responsibility for its consequences.”
