Harish Rao credits cadre for Dubbaka victory in Prabhakar Reddy’s absence

Finance Minister T Harish Rao is addressing gathering in Dubbaka on Thursday.

Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has called upon the cadre of Dubbaka Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to imagine themselves as the candidate of Dubbaka Constituency as the Party candidate Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following the attack on him on October 30.

Addressing the Party cadre and leaders of the Dubbaka Constituency in the absence of Prabhakar Reddy in Dubbaka on Thursday, the Finance Minster has informed the cadre that he met Medak MP in the hospital on Thursday morning. However, he has said that Reddy was not in a state to speak properly since the surgery was performed on him. Informing the words of the doctors to the cadre, Rao has said that there would have been a danger to his life had he reached the hospital an hour late on the day of the attack.

The Minister has said it has pained them as the Opposition parties were jokingly comparing the attack with the Kodi Kathi incident. He has said that Prabhakar Reddy will certainly win the election with a bigger majority. Rao said that the BJP is not going to form the government since the surveys were predicting that the BJP would win one or two seats in Telangana.

Talking about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Medigadda, Rao has said Gandhi and TPCC President A Revanth Reddy were making comments without proper knowledge of the project. The Minister has said it appeared that the Congress wanted to see the Kaleshwaram project collapse for their political gain. Stating that one pillar of the Medigadda barrage had a problem, Rao has said that Congress was saying that the entire barrage was submerged in the water.

Accusing Congress of indulging in Gobell’s propaganda, he has said that the Congress leaders were alleging that there was a one lakh crore scam though the government had spent just Rs 80,000 crore on it. Rao said that no Congress government in any State was supplying 24-hour free power supply in the nation.

The Minister has said that the Congress rule in Telangana will push the State into darker days. He has said that the Congress had asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to stop the release of grants under loan waiver.

Saying that they have released Rs 14,000 crore towards loan waiver, he has said that the government is ready to release the remaining amount immediately if the ECI permits. However, he has said that they would release the amount after coming into power for the third consecutive time.

"You'll Get 2% Votes": Rahul Gandhi On BJP's Telangana Chief Minister Claim

'You'll Get 2% Votes': Rahul Gandhi On BJP's Telangana Chief Minister Claim

The Congress had “punctured” the four tyres of BJP’s vehicle in Telangana, said Rahul Gandhi.

Hyderabad:

Taunting the BJP over its promise to make a backward caste candidate as Chief Minister of Telangana, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday wondered how the it could do so when it was going to garner only a meagre percentage of votes.

Mr Gandhi, who addressed public meetings at Kalwakurthy, Jadcherla and Shadnagar in Telangana, said BJP leaders used to brag about their chances in the state. However, the Congress had “punctured” the four tyres of BJP’s vehicle in Telangana.

“You will get two per cent votes here and how can you make a chief minister?” he asked.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently announced in a poll rally regarding making a backward class leader as Chief Minister if the BJP came to power in Telangana after the November 30 assembly polls.

Mr Gandhi further took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the PM would go to the US and announce that he will make an OBC candidate President of America.

“You will neither be able to make a President in America nor a Chief Minister here (Telangana),” he said.

Targetting the AIMIM, Mr Gandhi alleged that the Asaduddin Owaisi-led party fields candidates wherever the Congress fights the BJP by taking money from the saffron party.

“Wherever we go to fight the elections… Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tripura, wherever Congress party fights with BJP, MIM party takes money from BJP and puts up candidates there,” he claimed.

Just as it has “punctured the tyres of BJP” in Telangana, the Congress will do so in the whole of India.

“First, we have to win in Telangana. We will win in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, and later in 2024, we will win Delhi (Lok Sabha),” he said.

He reiterated his allegation that “BJP, BRS and AIMIM are one”. “These three are working together.” “… if there is no tacit understanding between BJP and BRS, why is there not even a single case against your Chief Minister?” he asked.

He recalled that the BRS had supported the BJP in Parliament on the three farm laws.

The Congress leader promised to conduct a caste census if his party was voted to power in Telangana.

A caste census would also be conducted in the country if the Congress comes to power after the Lok Sabha elections held next year, he added.

Mr Gandhi, who alleged that the Chief Minister “swindled” Rs one lakh crore in Kaleswaram project, displayed a mock ‘Kaleswaram ATM’ made by his party to the people at Shadnagar.

Referring to reports of some ‘piers’ of Medigadda barrage of Kaleswaram project ‘sinking’, he said KCR should inspect the site.

Alleging that RSS-BJP spread hate in the country, he claimed that a ‘mohabbat ki dukan’ should be opened. He likened the 24 cases filed against him to medals given to the personnel in the Army.

“I wake up in the morning and if there is no attack on me by BJP or if they don’t speak ill of me, I don’t have fun,” he quipped.

“I have shaken them (rivals) so much that they talk about me 24-hours. Narendra Modi ji and KCR sleep in the night and suddenly they see me in their dreams,” he said.

He also highlighted the Congress’s poll promises, including Rs 2,500 for women every month under ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, provision of LPG cylinder for Rs 500, free bus travel for women.

43 Israeli rabbis approve bombing of hospitals in Gaza

Dozens of rabbis have issued a religious decree to the Israeli regime’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming that it is religiously acceptable and permissible to bomb Palestinian hospitals during the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip.

A document signed by 43 rabbis states that there was no religious or moral objection to striking hospitals when civilians are used as shields and hidden behind them, Israel’s Channel 14 television news reported on Thursday.

The message had now been conveyed to military units, the prime minister and cabinet members, the report added.

The ruling suggested that responsibility for bombing Gaza hospitals would lie with the individuals who use civilians as shields.

Previously, Israeli spokesperson for the Ministry of War Affairs, Daniel Hagari, alleged that “Hamas is using Shifa Hospital as a shield and conducts attacks from hospitals.”

Regarding the possibility of Shifa Hospital being targeted in Gaza, Hagari stated, “In this war, all options are on the table.”

In Gaza’s biggest hospital, al-Shifa, doctors are faced with a massive influx of casualties, added to the thousands of displaced civilians taking shelter there.

On October 18, at least 500 civilians were killed by Israeli airstrikes on al-Ahli Baptist Hospital amid the regime’s relentless aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Turkish hospital in Gaza ceases functioning after Israeli attack

Subhi Skaik, the director of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital said during a press said on Wednesday that the hospital, which mainly treats cancer patients, had used up its fuel and was now out of service.

Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila in a statement later confirmed that the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in the Gaza Strip had ceased functioning after being attacked by the Israeli military.

“The Turkish Friendship Hospital in Gaza has stopped functioning after being shelled by Israeli forces on Monday and Tuesday, and due to a complete depletion of fuel supplies,” the statement read.

She said that this hospital is the only facility dedicated to treating cancer patients in the Gaza Strip.

She emphasized serious threats to the lives of 70 cancer patients within the hospital, with approximately 2,000 cancer patients in the Gaza Strip as a whole.

“Al-Shifa Medical Complex will also cease its operations in less than 24 hours due to fuel depletion,” she added.

The Gaza Health Ministry earlier issued an urgent final call for assistance as the al-Shifa Hospital and Indonesian Hospital faced a critical shortage of fuel on Tuesday evening. It emphasized the urgent need for intervention from the international community to save the lives of those in the hospitals.

Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have repeatedly targeted hospitals, residences, mosques, and churches. Under the Geneva Convention, attacks on hospitals are strictly prohibited.

Israeli prime minister has rejected international calls for a cease-fire.

Israel drops white phosphorus on UN school

Footage has surfaced showing Israeli warplanes dropping white phosphorus bombs, which are internationally banned, on a UNRWA school located in al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza. The chemical can cause severe burns.

27 killed in Israel strike near UN school

The health ministry in Gaza said Thursday at least 27 people were killed in an Israeli strike near a UN school in the Jabalia refugee camp.

“The bodies of 27 martyrs were recovered and a large number of wounded,” said ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra.

Gaza death toll rises to more than 9,000

At least 9,061 people have been killed since October 7, including 3,760 children and 2,326 women, Gaza Health Ministry. At least 32,000 people have been wounded.

Around 2,000 people are still missing in Gaza, including 1,100 children. The vast majority of these people are believed to be dead and buried under rubble.

“135 medical staff have been killed, and 25 ambulances destroyed” since the start of the war, the health ministry said, adding, “16 hospitals are out of service in Gaza, and 32 medical care facilities are out of operation.”

The UN health agency calls for urgent access to humanitarian aid in Gaza where the civilian population is in dire need of basic supplies.

It’s now the 27th day since Israel launched its war on the Gaza Strip. The regime is pounding the besieged territory from the ground, sea and air as fighting is underway between resistance groups and Israeli troops.

The UN chief also decried the regime’s raids. Antonio Guterres said he is appalled by the killing of Palestinians, including women and children, in Israel’s airstrikes on Jabalia.

Meanwhile, on the ground, heavy fighting is underway northwest of Gaza City. Israeli forces reportedly carried out raids into the Shati refugee camp, the Nasr neighborhood and Sheikh Radwan.

The Qassam Brigades says it has targeted an Israeli air base as well as tanks and bulldozers in northwestern Gaza.

The regime says 18 of its soldiers have been killed since the launch of the ground invasion of Gaza. A high-ranking Israeli officer is among the dead.

Israeli forces kill Palestinians during raids across West Bank

Israeli settlers have attacked Palestinians in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, setting fire to their vehicles and stores.

Videos show the aftermath of the settler assaults in the village of Deir Sharaf near Nablus. This comes as the Palestinian health ministry reported the killing of three more people by Israeli troops in the West Bank.

At least three Palestinians were killed in separate raids in the cities of Qalqilya and Bireh.

On Thursday in El-Bireh, near the seat of the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, two Palestinians, Ayham al-Shafei, 14 and Yazan Shiha, 24, were killed and two others wounded when Israeli troops opened fire during a raid.

A 19-year-old Palestinian, Qusai Quran, was killed by Israeli forces during a raid on Qalqilya in the northern West Bank, according to the ministry, reporting two others were wounded.

And a young Palestinian succumbed to injuries he sustained days ago during an Israeli incursion into a village near the city of Nablus. The ministry reported the death of 14-year-old Hamdan Hamdan of wounds sustained Monday by Israeli fire in a village near the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

In the meantime, an Israeli soldier was killed in a Palestinian shooting operation in the West Bank. The Israeli military has confirmed the killing near Beit Lid, east of Tulkarm.

For several months, the West Bank has seen increasing Israeli army raids, and attacks on Palestinians by extremist Israeli settlers.

Israeli forces and settlers escorted by the regime troops have killed around 130 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 7.

Spoke to Siraj, worked on wobble seam: Ravi Teja

Spoke to Siraj, worked on wobble seam: Ravi Teja

T Ravi Teja

Hyderabad: Speaking to Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj on wobble seam and working on in-swingers did the trick for Hyderabad cricketer T Ravi Teja who entered record books with the best bowling figures of 6/13 (against Chhattisgarh) in the Syed Musthaq Ali T20 tournament.

The all-rounder is also the highest wicket-taker so far in the tournament with 19 scalps to his name. Despite Hyderabad losing on a knockout berth narrowly owing to the inferior net run rate, he is still at the top of the list.

Speaking on his performance, the 28-year-old said that he worked hard on his bowling before the start of the season and that delivered the goods. “I was not aware of the record during the match. I am very happy to create such a record. I had worked hard on my bowling. I spoke to Siraj on the wobble seam and worked on my in-swinger. Most of the wickets I got were with in-swingers. Now that I am opening the bowling with the new ball, it is important for me to take wickets,” he explained.

The talk with national selectors during last year’s Duleep Trophy tournament was the big motivation to put in extra yards in nets. “When I was at my peak during the Ranji Trophy season and played in Duleep Trophy, the selectors told me to work on my bowling as well. I was batting well. I worked more on my bowling. I am happy that the hard work paid off,” he added.

Hyderabad dished out consistent performances in the tournament winning six out of seven games and finished with 24 points along with Mumbai and Baroda. But they failed to advance owing to their inferior net run rate.

“As a team we have been doing well in the white ball cricket. Beating star-studded Mumbai and Haryana was amazing. But we need to deliver results and qualify for knockouts,” he added.

When asked about his memorable moment, he said picking up the wickets of Mumbai’s top players Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube was his best. Ravi Teja is also keen to win matches for his team with the bat. “Apart from bowling, I also want to win matches with my batting. I want to score a hundred in the T20s and want to become a player with fifers and hundreds in all the formats,” he added.

At 28, Ravi Teja said he draws inspiration from his father Bharani who runs a medical shop. “My father is 65 years and he owns a medical shop. He goes there every day. Seeing him always gives me motivation to not give up,” he revealed.

Meanwhile, Ravi Teja heaped praises on Tilak Varma who is captaining Hyderabad for the first time. “He brings so much energy on the field. At a young age, he leads the side admirably.”

Iran and the battle of economic corridors

The protocol of China’s transport corridor to Europe through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Turkey has been signed by the ministers and representatives of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

The signing took place on the sidelines of the first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) International Transport Forum in Tashkent on Thursday.

The first transport forum of the SCO is currently underway in Uzbekistan, bringing together representatives from the transportation authorities of member countries and over 60 major companies from 15 countries.

Under the protocol, unification of tariffs and transportation procedures and border processes will be implemented among the countries, on the basis of which it is expected that a significant share of China’s transit to Europe will shift to Iran’s East-West transit route.

The financing of infrastructure projects by the Asian Development Bank, completing missing rail and road links, as well as commercializing and strengthening regional corridors, including Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul, Almaty-Tehran-Istanbul and East-West corridors to connect China to Europe and the Caspian Sea were among the other topics discussed at the forum.

Participants underlined the excellent transport and logistics potentials of the SCO member states in the construction and use of Eurasian transit corridors.

“East-West multimodal transport connectivity can play an important role in the future, as transport becomes increasingly multimodal and new opportunities arise to improve existing and develop new Eurasian transport networks,” Kazakh Deputy Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev told the forum.

“Our region is a key region connecting Europe and East Asia, as well as an important region for China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Europe’s Global Gateway Initiative,” Lastayev added.

Iran’s Deputy Transport and Urban Development Minister for Transportation Affairs Shahriar Afandizadeh outlined the Islamic Republic’s “Iran-Rah” transportation initiative, saying its implementation will enable all countries in the region to find safe and cheap access to their surrounding geography.

Iran’s special geographical location, being situated along the international corridors of North-South and East-West which connect West Asia to East, Asia and Europe, has provided a special transit place for the country.

Iran’s railway network in the west links with Turkey and to Europe; in the northwest to Azerbaijan; in the north to the Caspian Sea and Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia; in the northeast to Turkmenistan and Central Asia, Russia and China; in the southeast to Pakistan and in the south to the Persian Gulf and the open waters of the world.

The potential income of Iran’s rail transit from trade exchanges between East Asian countries and Europe through the East-West corridor is estimated at about $1.8 billion and through the North-South corridor at about $90 million a year.

This shows how important the East-West corridor is to Iran. Currently, Sarakhs-Bandar Abbas is the most active rail corridor in Iran, providing 80 percent of the country’s transit revenues.

According to the Islamic Parliament Research Center of Iran, the country’s annual transit capacity is at least 80 million tonnes, but only 5.3 million tonnes of goods went through the country in 2020.

Emerging economic powers such as China and India, which are the main parties pursuing the completion of corridors in the region, are trying to arrange multiple routes for their trade.

Even though none of the trade routes in the region can replace those through Iran, parallel routes can reduce the transit benefits of the country.

Therefore, Iran’s delay in securing its share of transit in the region would benefit its competitors and seriously underline the country’s national interests.

On the sidelines of the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in New Delhi in September, India, the United States, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the European Union agreed to create a transport and economic corridor connecting South Asia with Persian Gulf monarchies and European countries.

According to the White House, the initiative will be comprised of two separate corridors, the east corridor connecting India to the Persian Gulf and the northern corridor connecting the Persian Gulf to Europe. It will include a railway for cross-border ship-to-rail transit network to enable goods and services to transit to, from, and between India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, and Europe.

The deal is reportedly a product of a collective decision taken by India, Israel, the US, and UAE to open the India-Arab-Mediterranean economic corridor as an alternative to China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

The war in Ukraine and India’s efforts to access parallel routes have created space for Saudi Arabia and the UAE to play a role in the transit of the region. Some reports indicate that India’s focus on Iran’s Chabahar port is decreasing in favor of Arab countries.

The corridor links India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, and Greece, with the entire transshipment expected to be covered in a period of 10 days.

This duration is assumed to be 40 percent faster than the conventional and busy Suez Canal maritime route.

The corridor is one of the few routes designed for Asia-Europe trade that does not depend on Turkey. India has reportedly started investing in Israeli and Greek ports, and a consortium led by Adani Group has completed the purchase of Haifa Port in northern Israel for 4 billion shekels ($1.15 billion).

In its new economic approach, which according to experts is considered a positive development, Iran has focused on regional cooperation as well as the development of economic relations with China and Russia.

However, the pace of the implementation of agreements is not favorable and the timeframe for their execution is not clear.

Iran’s geographical location on the path of both the East-West and North-South corridors is definitely unmatched, which can also avail the passage of combined corridors, especially in view of the economic, security and time-saving advantages which the country has.

However, the precedence given to political observations by some parties has created problems, which calls for robust political parleys and expansion of political and economic relations to keep Iran in the centerpiece of the regional connectivity plans.

Any failure can deprive Iran of numerous benefits in this regard, although the exclusion the Islamic Republic from the regional connectivity map would incur grave costs for the other parties.

The candidates can obtain forms from the RO offices and submit them between 11 am to 3 pm on all working days. Applications can also be filled out online, after which a notarized hard copy must be submitted to RO on the requested date.

Instructing candidates to ensure that all columns of the form are filled, District Election Officer (DEO) and GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose in a press statement asked them to also attach a copy of their name mentioned in the constituency electoral roll.

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST communities will pay a reduced fee of Rs 5,000, provided they produce their caste certificate.

Ensuring smooth nomination process:

In a bid to help out with nomination paperwork, election authorities have set up a ‘candidate help desk’ under the Assistant Returning Officer at all RO offices. Enforcing Section 144 within 100 meters of all nomination centers in the city to avert any unforeseen incidents, police security will also be tightened, added the DEO.

Along with a 360-degree camera, a videographer will also be present in the RO office to record the proceedings, which will be monitored by the DEO. Further, only three vehicles of the candidate will be allowed within the perimeter, and only five persons including the candidate will be allowed into the RO office.

Election expenditure observers in city:

As candidates start filing their nominations for upcoming legislative assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed eight election expenditure observers to monitor expenses in 15 constituencies of Hyderabad District.

District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose informed that the appointed Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers will be reporting to duty on November 3.

While Subodh Singh is appointed as Expenditure Auditor for Musheerabad and Nampally assembly constituencies, Dr. Mitu Agarwal will take care of Jubilee Hills and Sanathnagar. Lakshmikanth Dasappa, Mahesh G., Kundan Yadav, and other officers are also appointed for the remaining constituencies.
