Hyderabad’s RGIA hosts Royal Air Force jets for second time

Hyderabad: In a sign of growing collaboration and goodwill between the United Kingdom and India, the Royal Air Force (RAF) made a remarkable return to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad on Friday.

The RAF aircraft landed in India for refueling, marking the second visit to Hyderabad this year.

Upon arrival, the aircrew engaged in friendly interactions with the ground staff at RGIA, further solidifying the amicable relationship between the UK and India.

Hyderabad's Rgia Hosts Royal Air Force Jets For Second Time

“This cooperation between the UK-Indian Air Forces and civil aviation brings our two nations ever closer,” tweeted Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana).

In September, for the first time, RAF jets made a refueling stop at RGIA.

The Royal Air Force is the aerial warfare branch of the United Kingdom’s armed forces. Established in April 1918 during World War I, the RAF has evolved into one of the world’s most technologically advanced and capable air forces.

The RAF operates a wide range of aircraft, including fighter jets. It plays a crucial role in defending the UK’s airspace, providing support to ground forces, and participating in international humanitarian and combat missions.

US, allies have sacrificed intl. peace for sake of Israel’s interests: Iran

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the deadly Israeli airstrike against Bureij refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, stating that the United States and its allies have sacrificed international peace and human rights for the sake of Israel’s interests.

“It is glaringly evident that the United States, alongside a limited number of countries, has effectively taken hostage the #UnitedNations and the Security Council, prioritizing the interests of the racist and criminal Israeli regime at the expense of international peace, security, and #HumanRights,” Nasser Kan’ani wrote in a post published on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday evening.

Gazan authorities say at least 15 people have been killed in a Thursday Israeli air strike on the Bureij camp, located in the center of the Gaza Strip. A spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defense said the strike hit a residential building, and residents reported scores of people trapped beneath the rubble.

The air strike came as the regime continues relentless attacks that have so far claimed the lives of at least 9,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in the Gaza Strip.

Kan’ani stressed that supporters of Israel are complicit in its “war crimes” in Gaza. “The culpability of the authorities within these governments is as substantial as that of the Zionist regime in the perpetration of these egregious war crimes in Gaza, necessitating their accountability.”

The top Iranian diplomat highlighted that the Israeli strike on Bureij refugee camp, marking the third bombing of a camp in as many days, “vividly showcases the depth of the atrocities and loss of life.”

“The overwhelming majority of countries, governments, and global nations are calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and an end to the wanton and destructive assaults perpetrated by the Zionist regime against the defenseless Gazans.

“Notably, this plea is echoed universally, save for the American government and a select few European governments, persistently engaging in interventions under the false pretext of championing human rights,” Kan’ani said.

Bureij refugee camp situated in central Gaza is home to about 46,000 Palestinian refugees, who are registered with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

This comes as the US House of Representatives has passed a plan to provide $14.3 billion in aid to Israel, despite Democrats in the Senate saying it had no chance of passing, and the White House promising to veto it.

The plan passed by 226 to 196, with mostly Republicans voting in favor and Democrats voting against. It was the first major legislation to be brought forward under new Republican Speaker Mike Johnson.

President Joe Biden has asked Congress to approve a wider $106bn emergency package including funding for Israel, Taiwan and Ukraine. However, Republican lawmakers were keen to separate the issue of aid to Israel.

Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, majority leader of the Senate, said he would not bring the bill up for a vote.

The $14.3bn in funds include billions for Israel’s military, including $4bn for procurement of Israel’s Iron Dome and David’s Sling defense systems to counter Palestinian retaliatory rocket attacks.

The brutal war that the Israeli regime has been waging against the besieged Gaza Strip since October 7 has so far claimed the lives of nearly 9,061 people, including 3,700 children and more than 2,300 women.

The regime launched the war after Gaza’s resistance groups conducted Operation al-Aqsa Storm, their biggest operation against the occupying entity in years.

Banda: A Dalit woman whose dismembered body was discovered in Uttar Pradesh‘s Banda district earlier this week, was allegedly raped before she was murdered, her husband had alleged in his police complaint.

The victim’s husband has lodged a formal complaint against three individuals, one of whom was the owner of the local mill (chakki) where she was employed prior to her demise.

The 40-year-old victim had gone to the mill on Tuesday for mud plastering and later, her severed head was found close to the mill.

A little ahead was a piece of her blood-stained saree, along with her one hand.

Initially, it was assumed that she died after becoming entangled in the mill belt at first.

However, her daughter claimed that when she visited the mill, it was closed.

Despite her best efforts, she was unable to open the door after hearing her mother’s screams.

The daughter told the police that the brother of the mill owner, Raj Kumar Shukla Bauwa, opened the door after 30 minutes, ostensibly while intoxicated.

Upon entering, she discovered that Raj Kumar Shukla’s sibling Ram Krishna was also present.

The daughter also questioned how could her mother become entangled in the chakki belt when every day, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., the electricity goes off in the village.

SHO Girva police station Sandip Tiwari has said that the police have registered a case of murder and rape against three persons named in the FIR.

“The post-mortem has been conducted by a panel of two doctors and the entire process has been video recorded. Police are making efforts for arrest of accused,” he said.

However, according to the statement made public by the accused, Sohan Babu, the victim’s husband, is their “bataidaar” of four bighas of land, which indicates that a large amount of land has been leased and Shuklas will split the profits equally.

Raj Kumar Shukla said in a statement: “She was called to help me plaster the chakki room with mud, and she left after doing her work.”

Prevention Tips From Air Pollution To Stay Healthy This Festive Season

Air Pollution: Follow These Preventive Measures To Stay Safe This Festive Season

Air pollutants can have adverse effects on both human health and the environment

Air pollution tends to worsen during festive seasons. This is mainly due to the extensive use of fireworks and firecrackers during these celebrations. Fireworks release various harmful pollutants into the air, including sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter.

These pollutants have adverse effects on both human health and the environment. To prevent air pollution from harming us during festivals like Diwali, several measures can be taken. Keep reading as we discuss preventive tips that can help keep you and your family safe from air pollution this festive season.

To prevent air pollution from harming us during festivals like Diwali, several measures can be taken:

1. Stay indoors

Try to limit your time outdoors, especially during peak pollution hours. Stay indoors as much as possible, especially if you have respiratory issues or are sensitive to pollution.

2. Keep doors and windows closed

Keep your doors and windows closed to prevent polluted air from entering your home. Use air purifiers if available.

3. Avoid exercise outdoors

Avoid jogging or exercising outside when air pollution levels are high. If you must exercise, do so indoors or in a well-ventilated area.

4. Use masks

Wear a high-quality mask whenever you need to go outside, especially during festivities when pollution levels tend to be high. N95 or N99 masks are effective in filtering out harmful pollutants.

5. Limit use of firecrackers

Firecrackers are a major contributor to air pollution during festivals. Minimise their use, or ideally avoid using them altogether to help reduce pollution levels.

6. Opt for eco-friendly alternatives

Choose eco-friendly or noiseless firecrackers if you do decide to celebrate with them. These options produce less smoke and noise, minimising the impact on air quality.

7. Use public transportation or carpool

Reduce vehicular pollution by using public transportation or carpooling with friends and family whenever possible. This can help decrease the number of vehicles on the road and, consequently, pollution levels.

8. Plant trees

Participate in tree planting initiatives or support organisations that focus on afforestation. Trees act as natural filters and can help in improving air quality.

9. Use air purifiers

Consider investing in air purifiers for your home. These devices can help remove pollutants from the air indoors and provide cleaner air for your family.

10. Spread awareness

Educate your friends, family, and community about the impacts of air pollution and how to prevent it. Raising awareness can lead to collective efforts to reduce pollution and its harmful effects.

11. Government initiatives

Governments can implement stricter air pollution regulations, enforce emission norms for vehicles, and promote the use of renewable energy sources to curb overall pollution levels during festive seasons.

12. Public awareness

Conducting awareness campaigns to educate people about the harmful effects of air pollution and encouraging them to opt for eco-friendly celebrations.

Following these prevention tips can help you stay healthy during the festive season by minimising your exposure to air pollution. It is important to prioritise your health and take necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones.
