Hyderabad: Drawing a comparison between the administration in Telangana and the neighbouring Maharashtra in the realm of delivery of services and fulfillment of peoples aspirations, the BRS Supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao made it clear that only a good governance could bring in the desired difference.

Addressing the Vijaya Shankharavam Sabha at Bhainsa on Friday, he pointed out that people in Maharashtra do not have the facilities they ought to have on par with people in Telangana. In fact Maharashtra was formed almost 70 years ago while Telangana was the youngest state with a history of only nine and half years.

Farmers from the adjacent pockets in Maharastra were preferring to buy at least a piece of land in Telangana. It was because they certain of getting water here and round the clock supply of free power. They were collecting water from local sources and pumping it across the interstate border to irrigate their crops in Maharashtra. Maharashtra had the city of Mumbai, the commercial capital of India with it.

Maharastra had the advantage of highest tax revenues from Mumbai city. Indeed people in Maharashtra should be better off compared to Telangana. But the ground reality was different. Those travelling across the interstate border, could make out the boundaries between the two states and the road stretches that looked plain and motorable were being understood to be part of Telangana.

Chief Minister asserted that Telangana was way ahead in providing irrigation and drinking water. It had already scrapped water-cess, an outdated element of revenue system that was still in force in water-starved Maharashtra. People in Telangana today boast of their irrigation facilities, round the clock free power, Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bhima.

Stating that those in the neigbouring pockets in Maharashtra were deprived of the same he said it would be the responsibility of the voters to act exercising utmost discretion to chose the right candidate and the right party to exercise their franchise in their favour. Vote is the ultimate weapon in their hands to make the difference. Once it was exercised in favour of a wrong person, you need to wait for five long years to correct your decision again.

Advising people not to fall prey to the campaign of misinformation, he said the India was yet to reach the mature levels of democracy. Political parties that have been lavish on their lies and false propaganda would be inimical to the interests of the state and the voters should be wary of them, he stressed.

Jaipur:

The upcoming assembly election is not just about Rajasthan, it is also about Congress’ future, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Wednesday, and added that the country needed the party.

Urging party leaders to reject politics and make Congress candidates win the polls, Ashok Gehlot said that such leaders could later be given official positions by the government.

The party would resolve the issues with those who could not be given a ticket to contest the polls, the chief minister said.

Assembly elections are due in the state on November 25, and counting of votes will be done on December 3.

“Even if we could not give tickets to those who stood by us and to those who saved our government, we have told them to help elect candidates who are contesting for the party. Leave all kinds of politics. Nation is first. The entire country today needs the Congress party,” Ashok Gehlot said.

“The election is not just about Rajasthan but it is also an election of Congress’ future. If they (party leaders) will make the party win the elections then they will be adjusted in boards after elections. If needed, we will give them the status of ministers.”  The chief minister said that it is natural that there is some resentment after ticket distribution among some party workers even though it was done after collective discussions. Still, there can be some complaints, he added.  He exuded confidence that Congress would win the elections.

Replying to a question on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot said, “It is a bulldozer government there. Is this the way to rule? Is it a democracy? Some people become happy due to their words. But if there is no rule of the law then we will also not be secure. Rule of the law is important for everyone.”  “They have destroyed law and order. You can imagine where they are taking the country. I don’t want to get into it,” he said.

Telangana: Discontent simmers in Telangana BJP over ticket distribution to new entrants

The granting of candidacies to these new members has reportedly unsettled the party’s veteran cadre, sparking considerations of defection among some.

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) approach to ticket allocation for the forthcoming Telangana Assembly elections has led to pronounced dissatisfaction within its ranks. Long-standing members and party stalwarts have voiced their discontent following the preference shown to recent inductees over seasoned party loyalists.

The granting of candidacies to these new members has reportedly unsettled the party’s veteran cadre, sparking considerations of defection among some. The growing sense of disillusionment among the grassroots workers is palpable, as they witness the sidelining of their seasoned leaders in favor of the newcomers.

A notable exit from the party includes senior leader Pallapu Govardhan, who, discontent with being passed over for a ticket from Khairatabad, resigned on Thursday to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

The sentiment of neglect is echoed by Bandaru Vijayalakshmi, daughter of Haryana Governor and ex-Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya. She expressed her discontent after being overlooked for a Musheerabad ticket, which instead was assigned to a confidante of K Laxman, a Rajya Sabha member and Central Election Committee (CEC) member of the BJP. It is understood that Laxman advocated for his protégé Poosa Raju despite Dattatreya’s appeals for his daughter’s nomination.

Similarly, former MLA Jayasudha faced disappointment as the Secunderabad candidacy went to Mekala Sarangapani, another party senior. Banda Karthika Reddy, an ex-Hyderabad mayor, has reportedly considered returning to the Congress after being denied the Amberpet seat.

Adding to the internal strife, Konda Visveshwar Reddy, a former MP, has threatened to resign if the party concedes the Serilingampally and Tandur seats to the Jana Sena party. Local BJP leaders in Kukatpally have also cautioned of intra-party opposition if the seat is allotted to Jana Sena, vowing to undermine the candidate’s campaign.

A struggle for supremacy has also emerged in Karimnagar between MP Bandi Sanjay and BJP election management committee chairman Eatala Rajender, particularly over the Husnabad and Vemulawada constituencies. The contest for nominations has seen Sanjay and Rajender each pushing for their respective supporters.

The cause of friction between the two popoular leaders are two seats – Husnabad and Vemulawada. While Eatala wants his follower Janapareddy Surender Reddy be given the Husnabad ticket, Bandi is insisting on giving the seat to his follower Bomma Sriram Chakravarthy. Similarly, in case Vemulawada, Sanjay is supporting candidature of Vikas Raj, son former Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, whereas Rajendar was pressing for former Karimnagar Zilla Parishad Chairman Tula Uma.

The unfolding situation indicates a deepening rift within the state’s BJP faction, as party leaders and members express their frustration over the perceived prioritization of defectors. There is a growing concern among the senior ranks that the decision to favor new entrants might backfire, negatively impacting the BJP’s performance in the upcoming elections, as internal dissent and potential sabotage loom over the official candidates.

As it stands, the BJP has disclosed its candidates for 88 constituencies, with decisions on the remaining 31 seats, which include the seats allocated to the Jana Sena alliance, yet to be made.

CPI(M) criticizes Congress approach to pre-poll alliances in Telangana

Nalgonda: CPI (M) state secretariat committee member and former MLA Julakanti Ranga Reddy expressed skepticism about the Congress commitment to seizing power in Telangana, citing their lukewarm approach to forming pre-poll alliances.

Speaking at a district-level CPI (M) gathering in Miryalaguda, Ranga Reddy remarked that the Congress initially approached the CPI (M) for a pre-poll alliance, but the subsequent hesitation on seat-sharing forced the CPI(M) to decide to go it alone. His party has now resolved to jointly field candidates along with the CPI in 40 assembly constituencies in Telangana.

Ranga Reddy emphasized the imperative role of Congress in countering both the BJP’s national dominance and the BRS at the state level. He suggested that a genuine effort to regain power would necessitate Congress forging alliances with other political entities.

Indirectly referring to reported remarks by TPCC president A Revanth Reddy and others towards the CPI(M), he criticized such leaders for lacking the moral authority to insult the left party, especially those known for frequently switching party allegiances.

He held Congress leaders accountable for the failed negotiations towards a pre-election alliance with the left parties. The meeting also saw the presence of CPI(M) leaders Cherupalli Sitaramulu and Mudireddi Sudhakar Reddy, among others.

Now, Priyank Kharge joins the race for Karnataka CM post

Hyderabad: Now, Karnataka IT Minister and AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge evinces interest in becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka. The race for Chief Minister’s post in the neighbouring State is heating even as the Congress high command stepped up efforts to stamp out internecine verbal clashes between Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar.

The cause of the new friction was the statement of Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge stating that he would agree to take up the mantle of the Chief Minister, if the party high command directed him so. Kharge was stated to have made this statement while speaking to mediapersons in Mysuru on Friday. “The High Command should say, if they ask me to become the Chief Minister, I will say yes”, he was reported to have asserted.

Karnataka Congress is already riven with fractious politics further deepening the rift between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister over different issues, including cabinet reshuffle, appointment of different board and corporation posts.

With discord escalating in the Karnataka Congress camp, Congress leadership rushed General Secretary and in-charge of Karnataka, Randeep Singh Surjewala, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal to iron out the differences on Wednesday. The duo issued a stern warning to those violating party discipline. However, on Thursday, Siddaramaiah asserted that he would hold the office for a full term of five years.

When asked to give clarity on whether he would head the government for the full five years, the Karnataka Chief Minister was quoted as saying, “For five years our government will be there. I am the Chief Minister and I will continue”

These remarks did not go well with Priyank Kharge. He said Siddaramaiah’s statement to continue as the Chief Minister for a full five-year term was his personal opinion and everyone has the right to express. It was the high command, which decided, he said according to reports.
