Iran Army's drone power can counter all enemy threats: Top cmdr.

A senior Iranian Army commander says the country’s drone power has advanced to a level that can counter any threats posed by the enemies.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the deputy chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination, made the remarks on Monday ahead of a large-scale joint exercise involving drones from Iranian Army’s four units of Ground Force, Navy, Air Force and Air Defense Force across large parts of central and southern Iran.

Sayyari, who is also the commander of the joint drone exercise, said the drill would be conducted in more than half of Iran’s geography and in the northern part of the Indian Ocean, stressing that part of the drone power of the Army’s four units will be evaluated in the large-scale war game.

“We use reconnaissance, combat, kamikaze drones and drones that can carry missiles, bombs and electronic warfare equipment [in the joint drill]. Our goal is to evaluate the precision of our drones, the skills of our pilots and the power of our shots,” the Iranian commander said.

Stressing that one of the main goals of the exercise is to improve the country’s drone capability to deal with potential threats, Sayyari said testing of all domestically-manufactured drones, evaluation of ammunition, the magnitude of fire and explosion as well as exchange of experience are among the other goals of the drill.

The deputy chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination said the type of battles has changed in recent years and drones have a very high place in modern battles.

Underlining that production of drones has made sharp progress over the past years, he said Iran, by using the expertise of its youth in knowledge-based companies and the Army, has put the production of all kinds of drones on the agenda and managed to achieve valuable results.

“Our drone power is very high and we can count on it and it will bring us success in any operation,” Sayyari said, adding, “The drone power of the country’s Army and Armed Forces is among the top drone powers in the region. The combat power of our country’s Armed Forces has reached a position that can respond to any threats on land, sea and air by using the drone power.”

Last month, the chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said demand for the purchase of Iran’s homegrown sophisticated drones is much greater than the country’s production, stressing that Iran has turned into a “big drone power” that is outperforming major world powers.

Iranian military experts and engineers have in recent years made remarkable breakthroughs in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient.

Iranian officials have made clear that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never open for negotiations.

We have second largest road network in world: Nitin Gadkari

Prague: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said that India has the second largest road network in the world. He also stated that India is the third largest automobile manufacturing hub in the world.

While addressing the 27th World Road Congress in Prague, Gadkari called accidents a big challenge for India.

“We are the second largest road network in the world and now at the same time, we are the third largest automobile manufacturing hub in the world. These are the two strength. But at the same time, we are facing highest number of accidents and that is to be a big challenge for the country,” Gadkari said.

Speaking about the steps taken by government to tackle the challenge, Nitin Gadkari said that India has taken a lot of decision related with automobile engineering, road engineering, emergency, education, and enforcement.

“We have taken a lot of decision related with the automobile engineering, road engineering, emergency, education, and enforcement. We have taken special measures as the law in the parliament for making stern action against the people who are violating the law. But, at the same time, we are not getting reasonable success in it,” he said.

Calling human behaviour “important,” Gadkari said, “the most important point which I feel that the human behavior is very important. But, we will never continue to change the mindset. And this education of masses and creating awareness in the mind of the people is very important. We have road safety council.” “We have already introduced the road safety agenda into the preliminary education system, trying to change the mindset of the small student people children. And at the same time, it is important that we are taking help from educational institutions, universities, social organization to create awareness in the mind of the people,” he added.

He stressed that changing the mindset of the people in India is important, adding that India is losing 3 per cent of the GDP due to the accidents. He stated that they have involved celebrities, filmmakers and celibrities to educate the people. Gadkari said that India has decided to reduce the accidents by 50 per cent in 2030.

“We are trying our level best, but still it is a big challenge for the country. Three per cent of the GDP we are losing because of the accidents. And now I feel that already it is a mission for the government and for the people and the society that 2030 we have decided to reduce the road accident by 50 percent. It is a big challenge… A lot of initiative we have taken, and this is to be one of the big problem. But regarding the experience from the lot of good experience and successful stories from here. We will inspire and motivate and we will try our level best to reduce the accident in our country,” Gadkari said.

Notably, Nitin Gadkari was received in a traditional ‘Maharashtrian way’ at Prague airport on Sunday. India’s Ambassador to Czech Republic Hemant Kotalwar received Gadkari in Prague.

Earlier in July, Gadkari in the Parliament said that central government has set a provisional target for the construction of about 13,800 kilometre National Highways (NHs) in 2023-24.

Against the set target for the year, 2,250 km has already been constructed till June 2023, he said. Gadkari was asked whether the construction material used for road construction was of better quality than that used earlier.

“Construction materials used for road construction work now is of better strength/quality as compared to those used earlier. A few examples are the soil of higher CBR, bitumen/modified bitumen of higher modulus, high strength concrete, high strength steel, etc,” Gadkari said in the written reply in Lok Sabha.

Second Israeli minister visits Saudi Arabia in a week

Israeli regime’s telecoms minister Shlomo Karhi (pictured) arrives in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on October 1, 2023 to attend a global conference.

The Israeli telecoms minister has visited Saudi Arabia in a second such visit by a senior Israeli official to the kingdom in a week and amid efforts by the United States to persuade Riyadh to normalize relations with the Tel Aviv regime.

Shlomo Karhi led a delegation of Israeli officials arriving in Riyadh on October 1, according to reports published on Monday which showed that the delegation was to attend a conference of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a UN postal union, an event that will last until October 5.

Karhi’s visit to Saudi Arabia came just days after Israeli regime’s tourism minister Haim Katz traveled to Saudi Arabia to attend a conference of the World Tourism Organization.

It also came some three weeks after an official Israeli delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia to participate as an observer in the 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

The three visits are the first of their kind after years that Israeli political figures and security officials made undeclared trips to Saudi Arabia.

They come amid a renewed push by the United States to work out a normalization deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Arab and Muslim countries have criticized Riyadh for keeping the door open to such a normalization deal, saying it would a betrayal of the Palestinian cause and would encourage the Israeli regime to intensify its aggression.

Resistance movements in Palestine believe Israel has already been emboldened by the potential success of efforts to normalize ties with Saudi Arabia, saying attempts in recent weeks by extremist settlers to make regular presence in al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy place in the occupied al-Quds, shows the regime wants to pile up pressure on Palestinians.

Reports have suggested that Washington will reward Saudi Arabia for engaging in normal ties with the Israelis with a major security pact as well as with support for the kingdom’s plans to develop a peaceful nuclear program.

Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek Both Through At China Open

Carlos Alcaraz sealed a spot in the men’s semi-finals of the China Open with a straight-sets victory over Norway’s Casper Ruud in Beijing on Monday. The world number two triumphed 6-4, 6-2 to set up a semi-final clash with either Jannik Sinner or Grigor Dimitrov. Alcaraz shook off an early break of serve to overpower the world number nine, eventually seizing an attritional first set with a 40-0 service game. He then took control, breaking twice without reply in set two before finally forcing Ruud to slice a backhand into the net. “To be able to win these kinds of matches the way I did gives you extra confidence in your game,” Alcaraz said at a post-match news conference.

“It was a really tough match and I had to find solutions… I had to increase my level but we had really good battles, good rallies.”

Third-ranked Daniil Medvedev booked his place in the semi-finals with an earlier 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory over France’s Ugo Humbert.

An error-strewn first set saw a combined five breaks of serve but Medvedev edged ahead in the ninth game and finished it off with an ace.

Both men were more consistent in set two until the Russian, at deuce, hit back-to-back double faults to hand the crucial break to Humbert.

Medvedev finally tightened up in the decider, notching two quickfire breaks before seeing out the match on his serve.

The 27-year-old will battle it out with Germany’s Alexander Zverev for a place in the final.

Medvedev again attributed the see-saw victory to the match balls, which he has said fluff up too quickly and can lead to lengthy rallies.

“(On) any other normal hard court with normal balls, no chance I win the match like this. No chance I would lose my serve so much,” he said.

Zverev, ranked number 10, edged a tight encounter with Chilean Nicolas Jarry 6-1, 6-7 (5/7), 6-3.

Top-ranked men’s player Novak Djokovic is not playing the China tournaments this season.

World number two Iga Swiatek defeated Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo in straight sets in the first round of the women’s draw.

The Pole, who recently relinquished her hold on the number-one spot to Aryna Sabalenka, enjoyed considerable success at the net on her way to a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Swiatek will play France’s Varvara Gracheva in the second round.

“I feel like I was pretty patient. You have to be patient with her because she’s running for every ball,” the 22-year-old said after the match.

“I kind of wanted to just be solid and be intensive but not make too many mistakes with risking,” she said.

Teenage star Coco Gauff survived a minor scare on the way to a 7-5, 6-3 defeat of Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The US Open champion was 4-0 up but allowed Alexandrova to level before ripping a backhand winner down the line to break serve and take the first set.

She fared better in the second, picking up a break midway through and seeing out the match to seal a date with Petra Martic in round two.

“She was giving me a lot of errors, so I don’t think the 4-0 was completely (down to) my tennis,” Gauff told a post-match press briefing.

“Once I got to that point, I definitely started making more unforced errors,” she said.

“I was able to buckle down when I needed to, but obviously I think in these moments I want to do better at closing out those sets.”

World number seven Ons Jabeur beat American Ashlyn Krueger 6-3, 6-4 to set up a second-round match against Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk.

Sabalenka knocked out former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin on Sunday to seal her spot in the second round.

The China Open is taking place for the first time since 2019 after Beijing abandoned its long-standing zero-Covid policy.

Siddipet: The long-cherished dream of the Siddipet people of traveling by train between Secunderabad and Siddipet will be realised by Tuesday. As part of the connecting Siddipet-Siricilla-Gajwel and many other towns and villages with Secunderabad, the South Central Railway (SCR) had grounded the works of the Manoharabad to Kothpally Railway line in 2019.

An old railway track was there until Manoharabad in Medak from where the newline was laid. The 151.36 KM railway line with a proposed budget of Rs 1,160 crore was nearing completion. The works of the new railway track (77-KM) were completed up to Siddipet town.

Since the works till Gajwel were completed in 2022, the SCR was already operating goods trains to Gajwel to transport the fertilisers here. After the inauguration of the new railway line in a virtual mode by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his Nizamabad public meeting on Tuesday, the first rain will chug into Siddipet from Secunderabad.

Speaking at a programme in Dubbaka on Monday, Finance Minister T Harish Rao has said the SCR had agreed to operate trains from Sididpet to Bangalore and Tirupati shortly. He has said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has made some special efforts to complete the works soon.

Initially, the SCR will operate two trains between Siddipet and Secunderabad. The distance between these stations was 116 km. The journey will take about three hours. The fare would be Rs 60 which is nearly 50 per cent less than RTC bus fare. Meanwhile, the Siddipet railway station and other stations en route were being colourfully illuminated ahead of train facility inauguration.

Qur'an desecration tantamount to insult to entire humanity

Raeisi felicitated the nations and heads of the Islamic states on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Monday.

In his congratulatory message, the president called the prophet the perfect role model to direct mankind toward perfection, well-being and God.

Islam is considered the religion of freedom and equality, while the holy Qur’an is “the book of blessings, wisdom and the words of God,” he pointed out.

Disrespecting the Quran, as the priceless miracle of the Prophet Muhammad (PBHU), is equivalent to insulting humanity, freedom, values, as well as spirituality.

The Islamic Republic strongly condemns the heinous and spiteful measures that are taking place in some parts of the world, the president added. He further said the acts of Qur’an desecration are a blatant affront to the feelings of the Muslims.

He expressed hope that the Islamic countries would witness unity and solidarity among the Muslims in the world.

Meet Taylen Biggs, The 10-Year-Old Fashion Influencer From Miami

Meet Taylen Biggs, The 10-Year-Old Fashion Influencer Who's Already A Red Carpet Veteran

Taylen landed her first modelling gig when she was 18 months old

Taylen Biggs has close to 1.5 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, a wardrobe full of designer clothes and 15 fashion weeks under her belt — and she’s 10 years old.

Taylen arrived at last week’s Balmain show, one of the hottest tickets of Paris Fashion Week, in a luxurious white jacket-and-skirt combo by the French label, black boots and bag by Karl Lagerfeld and her favourite Vintage Frames shades.

She was followed, as always, by her cameraman. Also keeping a discreet distance was her “bodyguard”, as she calls him, who also happens to be her father.

“I love fashion and I love meeting new people and interviewing them and seeing what they have to say,” she told AFP, before getting down to business with her microphone.

Taylen, who lives in Miami, has interviewed the likes of DJ Khaled, popstar Kali Uchis and American Football star Patrick Mahomes, as well as a huge number of models, designers and fellow fashionistas.

She is practically a veteran of red carpets, appearing at everything from the MTV Music Awards to the Superbowl, a regular at New York and Miami fashion weeks, and all over Milan and Paris for the past fortnight.

“I really miss my family a lot,” she said. “And I miss Miami. But I don’t miss the food from Miami. I’m in love with the food here.”

Influencers are now the fashion industry’s favoured form of media — a direct line to the public and happy to trade goodies for coverage — and age is no obstacle.

Taylen’s father, Josh Biggs, says he has largely given up his job as a construction contractor in Miami to work full-time as his daughter’s assistant.

“I travel with her everywhere she goes, I am her shadow,” he told AFP.

Asked if his daughter has become a business, he says: “People see her through the camera lens… but in real life she’s a child first and foremost.”

No Qualms

Taylen landed her first modelling gig when she was 18 months old after her fashion-loving mother, a Colombian who came to the United States when she was 13, posted pictures of her on social media that were spotted by an advertising agency.

She now runs her daughter’s social media accounts and oversees home-schooling for Taylen and her brother and sister.

“We take school very seriously, it’s priority number one,” said her father.

They worked through the summer so that Taylen could take a long break during the back-to-back fashion weeks in Milan and Paris in September.

Taylen’s father — who says he has little interest in fashion — says there is no pressure on his daughter to continue if she gets bored.

“If she’s ready to change and pursue a different career, then it’s up to her,” he said. “We will leave the fashion world in a second. There’s no qualms about it.”

But Taylen seems to enjoy her job.

“I’m really good with anyone,” she said. “I’m really good with kids. I loooove children! And I really love adults — I don’t even get annoyed.”

Suryapet: Welfare beneficiaries get emotional during interaction with KTR

Suryapet: The beneficiaries of Dalit Bandhu and the double bedroom house schemes of the State government went emotional when Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao interacted with them at a public meeting held at Suryapet on Sunday.

Rama Rao distributed the sanctions of Dalit Bandhu units to six roadside cobblers in the town. When he sought feedback from a beneficiary of the scheme, Chinthalacherla Ratnamma, she said Dalits enjoyed no respect earlier. She was running a roadside footwear repairing stall in the town after her husband died. Before formation of Telangana, no government extended even Rs.10,000 help to her, she said, adding that she would not believe those same political parties who were now promising Rs.12,000 lakh as Dalit financial assistance.

Rama Rao also enquired with the beneficiary of a double bedroom house, Dandempally Sangeetha, whether she had to bribe anyone to get the 2BHK house. Taking an oath on the Minister, she said she did not have to pay a single rupee as bribe.

NDTV Explains: With Eye On Polls, Breaking Down Bihar's Caste Survey

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called an all-party meet to discuss the caste report (File).

New Delhi:

The Bihar government on Monday released data from a controversial caste-based survey that said nearly 63.1 per cent of the state’s 13.1 crore population belong to backward classes and nearly 85 per cent belong to either a backward or extremely backward class, or a Scheduled Caste / Tribe.

Specifically, 36 per cent of the state is from an extremely backward class, 27.1 per cent is from a backward class, 19.7 per cent is from a Scheduled Caste and 1.7 per cent is from a Scheduled Tribe. The general category, including so-called upper castes, account for 15.5 per cent.

The report also underlines the minority status of those who identify as Muslims in Bihar; they constitute less than 18 per cent of the population while those who identify as Hindus account for 82 per cent. In the 2011 Census these numbers were 16.9 per cent and 82.7 per cent, respectively.

The data – coming months before next year’s Lok Sabha poll – underlines the electoral importance of OBCs and marginalised communities – both for the BJP, which has opposed calls for a national caste census, and the opposition, which has been increasingly more and more vocal on the subject.

Over the past five Lok Sabha polls, the BJP has won over OBC votes at the expense of the Congress.

In the 1999 national election the OBC vote division was even – 23 to 24 per cent. This jumped to 34 per cent to 15 per cent in 2014 and then a massive 44 per cent for the BJP five years later.

READ | Bihar Caste Survey Results Out, Nitish Kumar Shares The Plan Ahead

In Bihar, that 63 per cent OBC+ EBC is a headline number for the BJP. In 2019 the BJP-led NDA won 39 of the state’s 40 seats; the BJP won 17, JDU (then its ally) 16 and the Lok Janshakti Party got six.

The BJP and its allies, then, benefitted from OBC votes, as they did in the 2020 Bihar election, when 81 per cent of Kurmis, 51 per cent of Koeris, and 58 per cent of other OBCs/EBCs voted for them.

Representation, though, hasn’t always been equal to population – a point Congress MP Rahul Gandhi made when he said only three of 90 Secretaries to the Indian government were from OBCs.

READ |“Important To Know Caste Statistics Of India”: Rahul Gandhi On Census

In fact, comparing the 2015 Bihar Assembly to the 2020 one shows a drop in MLAs from OBC and EBC communities from 48.6 per cent to 40.7. MLAs from the so-called upper castes increased from 23.9 per cent to 29.2 per cent, while those from the Muslim community fell from 9.9 to 7.8 per cent.

The party-wise division of these numbers identifies the BJP as having only 27 MLAs from OBC communities (compared to 34 from so-called upper castes). For the JDU this split was 22-10.

The RJD skew was even bigger in terms of OBC representation – 39-13.

Meanwhile, what the Bihar caste survey report also does is spotlight the significance of OBC + EBC communities for the BJP, the Congress and all political parties across the country, with particular focus on states voting this year – Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telangana.

In Telangana OBCs (as a percentage of households in rural areas) account for over 57 per cent. In Chhattisgarh that number is 51.4 per cent. This is 46.8 in Rajasthan and 42.4 in Madhya Pradesh.

The Bihar caste survey has been a polarising topic among India’s political parties, with battle lines drawn between (primarily) the ruling BJP on one side and a number of opposition parties on the other.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at an election event in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior today, hit out at those “trying to divide the country in the name of caste” – seen as a sharp response to Bihar’s caste survey.

READ |“Trying To Divide Country…”: PM After Bihar Releases Caste Survey Report

The INDIA bloc, which is pushing for a national caste census to ensure better targeting of development initiatives, has been boosted by the Bihar report. Rahul Gandhi – whose Congress is part of INDIA – said his party will order a similar exercise if it wins the Madhya Pradesh election due this year.
