The Palestinian Ministry of Education has suspended classes in the village of Burqa due to the injury of a child in a raid by Israeli forces into a school.

Ghassan Daghlas, acting governor of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, said on Monday the decision to close the school was to maintain the safety of students.

Local media reported that Israeli forces also directly fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters toward the Palestinian students inside the school during the raid a day earlier. Dozens of children also suffered from smoke inhalation.

Israeli forces also denied teachers of 27 schools access to classes in Masafer Yatta area, located south of the city of al-Khalil (Hebron). The regime forces placed barriers to block the roads leading to the education centers.

In recent months, Israeli forces have also demolished a number of schools across the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education in an earlier statement said the demolition of schools was “a heinous crime.”

“These practices have become a flagrant violation of students’ right to safe and free education.”

"The Only Face Of BJP In Rajasthan Is…": PM Modi Ahead Of Polls

'The Only Face Of BJP In Rajasthan Is...': PM Modi Ahead Of Polls

PM Modi addressed his second public rally in Rajasthan in a week.

Jaipur:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has already conceded defeat in the upcoming assembly elections by requesting him not to scrap the welfare schemes started by the Congress in Rajasthan, and gave a “guarantee” that the BJP will not discontinue them.

Addressing a public rally in Chittorgarh, his second in Rajasthan in a week, PM Modi gave a clear indication that no leader will be projected as the chief ministerial candidate. The election symbol ‘lotus’ will be “the candidate”, he said.

Before his address, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 7,200 crore at another event in Rajasthan. He also offered prayers in the Sanwaliya temple.

Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP state president CP Joshi, Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore and Union minister Arjun Meghwal were among the leaders present at the rally.

Mr Gehlot had recently demanded that Modi should give a guarantee that the Congress government’s schemes will not be discontinued if the BJP comes to power in the state.

Reacting to this, the prime minister said, “Mr Gehlot knows that the countdown of the Congress government has started. He in a way has congratulated the BJP by publicly requesting that welfare schemes be not stopped. I assure you that the BJP will not stop any scheme of public interest but will try to improve it. This is Modi’s guarantee.” Later, Congress leader Pawan Khera said the Prime Minister has accepted that the Rajasthan government has done good work.

“Our chief minister threw a trap and the prime minister fell for it by saying that the Gehlot government’s schemes will be continued. When our schemes are good, who will vote for you (BJP),” M Khera told reporters at a press conference in Chittorgarh.

Attacking the Gehlot government over corruption and women’s safety, PM Modi said it pains him whenever atrocities take place against daughters anywhere in the country. “But the Congress has made this a tradition here,” he charged.

The Prime Minister also said that the paper leak mafia in Rajasthan will be held accountable and given the harshest punishment.

Referring to tailor Kanhaiya Lal’s brutal murder in Udaipur last year, PM Modi asked whether the people of the state had voted for the Congress for this.

“People came on the pretext of getting clothes stitched, slit the throat of the tailor without any fear and made a video and made it viral. The Congress gets worried about votes in that too,” he said.

The Prime Minister alleged that it is not possible to celebrate any festival peacefully in Rajasthan because of the “anti-development” environment created by the Congress.

The BJP will bring prosperity, employment and development to the state besides ensuring the safety of women, he asserted.

PM Modi claimed that the Congress came to power in the state by lying to people but could not run the government. Chief Minister Gehlot was busy saving his chair while half of his own party was busy removing him for more than four years, he claimed.

There were conflicts within the Congress in Rajasthan but they had consensus when it came to loot, the prime minister alleged, adding that criminals, rioters and corrupt Congress leaders considered themselves the government and such a dispensation should not last even a day.

“Rajasthan has given a call. Will save Rajasthan, will bring BJP government,” he asserted.

The prime minister further said that after coming to power, the BJP government would get to the bottom of the betrayal done to the youths of Rajasthan. “The paper leak mafia here will be held accountable at all costs,” he said.

“Action will definitely be taken against those who have committed corruption here and looted the money of the poor. This is also Modi’s guarantee. No matter how much these people abuse Modi, strict action against corruption will continue,” PM Modi added.

The prime minister also said that whenever the Congress feels it is going to lose in an election, it starts making false announcements.

The Rajasthan government is also making such efforts, he said, adding that in the last five years, the Congress was busy saving the government and now, it is worried about people’s welfare.

Rajasthan comes on top when it comes to crime, PM Modi claimed. “Today, when it comes to anarchy, riots and stone-pelting, the name of Rajasthan is infamous. Today our Rajasthan is becoming the most infamous in cases of atrocities on women, Dalits and backward people,” he said.

“The identity of Rajasthan is of hospitality, folk music, folk culture, bravery. But in five years, the Congress government has ruined the credibility of Rajasthan,” PM Modi added.

Hitting out at the opposition INDIA alliance led by the Congress party, the prime minister alleged that they were saying insulting things about women.

“We are seeing every day what insulting things the leaders of the arrogant alliance of the Congress are saying about women. They do not want women to get their rights, hence they are making excuses and spreading confusion in the name of caste and religion,” PM Modi alleged.

He also made clear there were no factions in the BJP’s state leadership and it will contest the election under the party’s ‘lotus’ symbol.

“The only face of the BJP in Rajasthan is the symbol of ‘lotus’. Our hope and candidate is the lotus,” Modi said.

The prime minister further said that every poor of the country would get a permanent roof to live in. “Modi will give a permanent roof to every poor,” he said.

On direct benefit transfer (DBT) to farmers’ accounts, the prime minister said, “In the last nine years, the BJP government has transferred lakhs of crores of rupees directly to the accounts of the beneficiaries. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi comes directly into the farmer’s account. Modi’s model is the same – direct benefits to every beneficiary.”

A three-year-old boy drowned at a waterpark in Texas, United States, while his mother was engrossed in her phone for hours, singing along to music, according to the police. However, her lawyer blamed lifeguards for not being attentive, as reported by The New York Post. The incident occurred at Camp Cohen water park in El Paso.

Jessica Weaver (35) faced accusations of negligence and was charged in connection with the tragic death of her only child, Anthony Leo Malave. Several eyewitnesses also held her accountable for the incident, citing her alleged reckless inattentiveness in the lead-up to her son’s drowning during the “soft opening” of the city-owned park in May, as reported by the El Paso Times.

On August 30, Mrs Weaver was apprehended in her hometown of Indiana, where she willingly agreed to extradition. She was then placed in custody at the El Paso County Jail on September 22 and was released on a $100,000 surety bond, according to the news outlet.

During the incident, it was one of the 18 lifeguards on duty at the park who rescued the three-year-old from a four-foot-deep section of the pool.

The child was not wearing a life vest, even though the facility had these devices available for guests, as reported in the paper.

Signs at Camp Cohen indicate that children under six must be actively supervised by a swimming adult, with an adult nearby for oversight at all times.

One witness described a woman who matched Mrs Weaver’s appearance as being entirely absorbed in her phone by the pool, not looking up or paying attention to anything, for over an hour.

Another witness mentioned that the woman, whom he believed to be alone, was continuously taking photos while she was at the pool.

A third individual witnessed the woman singing along to a song playing and reclining, engrossed in her phone, approximately seven minutes before the child/victim was pulled out of the water, according to the report.

Pakistan: Religious leaders, locals stop girls from playing cricket match

Religious leaders and locals said that the girls participating in cricket were immodest and considered inappropriate in the area

Islamabad: A group of Charbagh residents and some prayer leaders on Sunday stopped a women’s cricket match at Charbagh Cricket Stadium, Pakistan-based Dawn reported. They said that the girls participating in cricket were immodest and considered inappropriate in the area.

Ayesha Ayaz, a 12-year-old budding athlete, had taken the initiative to arrange the match for girls who belonged to Babuzaswati and Kabal tehsils. However, several prayer leaders and elders before the start of the match arrived at the match venue and stopped girls from participating in it.

Saeed Iqbal, an eyewitness, said, “When the girls from different areas gathered on the ground for the match, some religious people came and angrily forbade the players and organisers to do so. They were yelling and shouting and saying it was immodest for girls to play cricket in the open ground and we will never allow them to do so,” Dawn reported.

He further said that the imams contacted the local councillor Ihsanullah Kaki, who also called on the match organisers and women players to leave the area. Ayaz Naik, one of the organisers, said many women cricket players in Swat wanted to play cricket professionally.

He said, “Many girls contacted us to organise cricket matches for them and make a district cricket team to play first class matches,” according to Dawn report.

He further said that he, his daughter and some professional players organised the match at Charbagh Cricket Stadium as construction work was being carried out at the stadium in Mingora. He called it shocking for girls and organisers when they were stopped from playing cricket in the area.

Local players Humaira Ahmad and Sapna said they and their friends were excited to play the match. However, the locals did not allow them to play.

They said, “Our enthusiasm dwindled as we arrived at the venue and encountered individuals who prevented us from participating in the game. It’s puzzling why some men have reservations about female participation in sports because taking part in sports is our fundamental right, and we aspire to play at a higher level,” according to Dawn report.

Charbagh Tehsil Chairman Ihsanullah Kaki claimed that the security situation in Charbagh tehsil is “unstable” due to the presence of individuals with firearms, Dawm reported. Kaki said those living near the cricket ground are hesitant to come out of their homes at night.

He said, “The security conditions within the Charbagh tehsil are currently unstable due to the presence of individuals with firearms, who are often spotted in various locations. These individuals send messages to local residents, demanding money and issuing threats.”

He claimed that people of Charbagh were not against the female cricket match. However, the security situation in the area was unstable.
