Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former Minister T Harish Rao refuted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s claims that the BRS and the BJP colluded in the recent Lok Sabha elections, dismissing them as baseless and inappropriate. He pointed out that the BRS outperformed the BJP in numerous Assembly constituencies, but the Congress had failed to do the same in the Chief Minister’s own constituency in Kodangal.

In a statement, Harish Rao said the BRS party scored majority votes in three of seven Assembly constituencies within the Medak Parliament constituency, including Dubbak, which is the constituency of BJP MP M Raghunandan Rao. “It is not appropriate for a Chief Minister to make such unfounded allegations,” he said.

The former Minister pointed out the inconsistency in Revanth Reddy‘s claims referring to the Congress party’s performance in Mahabubnagar constituency where the BJP won, despite having Congress MLAs in all seven Assembly constituencies. “Did the Congress divert votes to BJP there?” he asked.

Harish Rao also challenged Revanth Reddy over the BJP securing majority votes in the latter’s native village of Kondareddypalli as well as his Kodangal Assembly constituency during the Lok Sabha polls. “In Kodangal where the Chief Minister won with 32,000 votes in the Assembly elections, the Congress candidate secured only a 21,000 majority during the parliamentary elections. Does that mean he is in cahoots with the BJP?” he asked sarcastically. He also questioned BJP’s significant victory in Malkajigiri, represented by Revanth Reddy earlier, implying a possible Congress-BJP collusion there.

Harish Rao also said Revanth Reddy was aligning with the BJP and implementing their agenda while in the Congress. He cited instances where Revanth Reddy referred Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “Bade Bhai” and accused him of failing to condemn the Modi government on various issues. “The two national parties have come together to target Telangana’s regional power – BRS. It is a shame that Revanth Reddy said that BJP and BRS have colluded,” he remarked.

Telangana: Defaulting millers given 90 days for recovery of dues

The government stand on the issue of waiver of penalty is not appealable, the orders said.

Hyderabad: The State government on Thursday accorded permission to the Civil Supplies Corporation for recovery of custom milled rice (CMR) dues within the next 90 days from millers who had defaulted for four marketing seasons – Yasangi (Rabi Marketing seasons of 2019-20 and 2020-21) and the Kharif Marketing seasons (2021-22 and 2022-23).

The corporation was directed to recover the value of entire defaulted CMR in the form of cash (to the account of TGSCSCL) or equivalent quantity of rice from the millers, who failed to deliver CMR within the due date at the rate of 125 per cent of the value of CMR fixed by the Centre or actual economic cost incurred by the State, whichever was higher along with interest of 12 per cent per annum. The government stand on the issue of waiver of penalty is not appealable, the orders said.

The government issued the orders in response to the proposal made by Civil Supplies Commissioner D S Chouhan based on recommendations made by the official committee that studied the issue following a representation made by the millers association seeking more time for delivery of the custom milled rice by the millers defaulted during the past four seasons.

Coal block auction: TGBKS to step up fight from July 1

Hyderabad: Coming down heavy on the BJP government at the Centre and the Congress government in the State for working together against the interests of the State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) leader Raji Reddy said the fight against the auction of coal blocks would be intensified in the State.

Questioning the need for auction of coal blocks, he called it a step in direction of privatisation. Both the Centre and State were working in tandem to marginalise the role of the SCCL workforce, which had achieved 70,000 million tonnes of coal production to support the energy needs of the State and the nation.

Demanding allotment of coal blocks to the SCCL without any auctioning as in the case of Coal India, he said the policies of the BJP government had a debilitating effect on the public sector undertakings all over the country. Appealing to the AITUC and the INTUC to extend their support to the fight against auction of coal blocks, he said the coal workers in the company would stage protests with black badges on July 1. The effigies of the Central government and State government would be burnt as part of the protest on July 3.

The coal miners would stage demonstrations in front of the offices of the General Managers of the areas concerned on July 6. A massive dharna programme would be organised at Godavarikhani on July 9. In the second phase of the protest, the coal workers would present memoranda to MLAs from the coal belt and a dharna would be organised at Indira Park in Hyderabad. Similar demonstrations would be organised at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi when the Parliament was in session.
