Hyderabad: President Draupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Tamilisai Soundararajan and gave Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan additional charge as Governor of Telangana and as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Orders to this effect were issued on Tuesday. The appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of his office, the orders said.
Accordingly, the Jharkhand Governor is scheduled to arrive in the city late on Tuesday night. He would be taking charge on Wednesday.
Like Soundararajan, Radhakrishnan too is a native of Tamil Nadu. Before being appointed as Jharkhand Governor, he served as Tamil Nadu BJP State unit president and also as national executive of the party. He is a two-time member of the Lok Sabha and won the 1998 and 1999 elections from Coimbatore.
Meanwhile, with Soundararajan tendering her resignation, uncertainty has hit the MLC nominations recommended by the State government under the Governor’s quota. The State government had held a cabinet meeting last Tuesday.
During the meeting, it was decided to re-nominate TJS president Prof Kodandaram and Siasat Editor Amer Ali Khan as Members of the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota.
According to Congress party sources, the file was sent to Raj Bhavan much before the Lok Sabha elections schedule was announced on Saturday.
