Thanking the OIC Secretary General for paying attention to the Gaza issue and his efforts in supporting the oppressed Palestinian nation, Amir-Abdollahian expressed his concern about the dire humanitarian situation in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip.
The Iranian foreign minister also thanked the OIC Secretary-General for immediately responding to the request of the Islamic Republic of Iran and some other Islamic countries to hold an extraordinary meeting on Palestine.
Amir-Abdollahian considered the issue of Palestine to be at the center of the issues in the Islamic world and emphasized the need for stronger and more effective efforts on the part of the OIC to end the war crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people as soon as possible, especially the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
He attached great importance to the current OIC meeting which is taking place at the same time as the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues, stressing that, “it is necessary for the Islamic countries participating in the OIC meeting to send a strong and deterrent message to the Zionist regime and its supporters by taking strong decisions to force the regime to end its genocide.”
The top Iranian diplomat further expressed happiness with the process of interaction and consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the OIC Secretariat , especially the joint contacts and consultations with the Secretary-General, and welcomed the continuation of these consultations and collaborations, considering their dimensions and positive results.
Hissein Brahim Taha, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the strong stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting Palestine and the initiative and participation of the Iranain Minister of Foreign Affairs in the meeting. He vowed to diligently pursue the decisions of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in support of the oppressed Palestinian nation.
