Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who arrived in the Saudi city of Jeddeh on Tuesday to attend an emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine, met and held talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.

Amir-Abdollahian thanked Saudi Arabia for accepting Iran’s proposal to hold an extraordinary meeting on Palestinian issue.

Referring to the common position of Iran and Saudi Arabia on the need to support Palestine, the Iranian foreign minister said, “It is expected that effective steps will be taken in support of Palestine and end the Palestinian genocide.”

Attaching great importance to strengthening economic and commercial relations and facilitating the activities of businessmen, Amir-Abdollahian called for facilitating the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Saudi Foreign Minister, for his part, pointed to the difficult situation in Palestine and the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza and emphasized the importance of the Jeddah Summit in the direction of continuing efforts to end the war against Palestine.

He emphasized the importance of the collective efforts of Islamic countries, both in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and in international bodies, including the United Nations.
