Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Ali Sabry, the foreign ministers of Iran and Sri Lanka held a joint press conference on Tuesday in Colombo, during which the Iranian top diplomat said that “{Today we had detailed talks and fruitful agreements.”
“We discussed all aspects of political and economic tourism cooperation,” Amir-Abdollahian added.
“We agreed to enhance relations in all areas of interest,” the Iranian minister further said.
“We agreed that a meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation should be held soon,” he added.
“I held comprehensive and useful meetings with the [Sri Lankan] Prime Minister and the President,” he also said.
“The president sincerely welcomed the agreements reached between the foreign ministers of the two countries and emphasized inviting the Iranian president Dr Raeisi to visit Sri Lanka. We hope to see Dr. Raisi’s trip to Sri Lanka as soon as possible.”
“Soon, within the framework of strong relations between the two countries, we will see the opening of a 100 MW power plant,” Amir-Abdollahian added.
“Iranian people have chosen Sri Lanka as one of their tourist destinations,” the Iranian foreign minister further said.
