Amir-Abdollahian pens letter to UN's Gutters on Rafah

The United Nations should ask all its members to refrain from cooperating with the Zionist regime, Amir-Abdollahian wrote in his letter on Monday amid the Zionist Israeli regime’s push for attacking the over-crowded Gazan city of Rafah.

“The international community should not allow such a massacre to happen. Any military attack on Rafah will now doubt be another stage of the genocide of the Palestinian people by Israel. It is necessary for the UN system to perform its duties at this critical juncture and prevent more widespread crimes against the Palestinians who have taken refuge in Rafah,” the top  Iranian diplomat said.

“As the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) under the General Assembly warned in its February 14 press release, any military invasion of Rafah would endanger lives of civilians, many of them women and children, and an estimated 600,000 children, who have already been displaced several times and also violates the court order dated January 26, 2024 issued under the Genocide Convention,” the Iranian foreign minister added.

He further called for unity among the UN member states in the face of the Israeli aggression, noting that “All governments are legally and morally committed to doing something to stop and prevent the genocide of the Palestinian nation.”

“The United Nations must call on all its member states to avoid cooperating with the occupying aggressor regime, otherwise they will be a complicit in committing the most serious international crimes …,” he concluded.
