Shoigu will visit Tehran on Tuesday, the Iran-based Tasnim news agency reported, adding that he would meet top Iranian officials.
Last month, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Iran and Russia are independent countries whose military cooperation is not subject to the dictates of the United States and its allies.
Russia’s military cooperation with Iran will not succumb to geopolitical pressure, he added.
