Iran wins rulings in five international cases: Vice president

Iran’s Vice President for Legal Affairs Mohammad Dehqan

Iran’s Vice President for Legal Affairs Mohammad Dehqan says the Islamic Republic has recently won rulings in five international cases.

Dehqan said on Monday that one case pertains a number of Iranian schools which had been confiscated in some Persian Gulf littoral states.

The case was followed up by domestic courts and a verdict was issued in favor of Iran, he added.

One of these schools was returned to Iran’s Ministry of Education and the other one, whose verdict has been issued, will be handed over to the ministry later, he explained.

Dehqan said the Supreme Court of Luxembourg issued a judgment in October 2023 on the release of 1.7 billion dollars of Iran’s frozen assets in the European country.

According to the verdict, the legal obstacles to access the 1.7 billion dollars of the foreign currency assets of the Central Bank of Iran in Luxembourg have been removed.

The vice president noted that further information would be announced later regarding the other cases.

He pointed to the cases of the assassination of Lieutenant General Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and top Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh in 2020.

The Islamic Republic will never engage in legal work with Israel or the perpetrators of the acts of assassination, Dehqan explained.

The cases are beyond legal issues, and will be addressed in the future, he added.
