Chintu and his sister Sanghavi, natives of Shadnagar in Ranga Reddy district, stay at a rented house at RTC colony in LB Nagar.

Hyderabad: An engineering graduate lost his life while trying to save his sister from a jilted lover’s knife attack in LB Nagar on Sunday. His sister, a homeopathy student, is being treated for serious injuries while the attacker was nabbed by the police.
Natives of Shadnagar, Sanghavi, pursuing a homeopathy course, along with her brother, G Prudhvi Goud alias Chintu (25), has been staying at RTC colony in LB Nagar for their studies.
According to the police, Shiva, a resident of Ramanthapur had been proposing to Sanghavi which she rejected. Apparently upset at this, Shiva carrying a knife used for cutting vegetables, came to the girl’s house at RTC colony on Sunday afternoon.As an argument ensued between the two, Shiva pulled out the knife and attacked Sanghavi and Chintu who was also in the home trying to intervene and stop him. The siblings who were badly injured in the attack rushed out of the building to escape from Shiva’s attack.
Neighbours who noticed injured Chintu and Sanghavi rushed to their aid and after overpowering Shiva and locked him inside the house, said DCP L. B Nagar, B Sai Sree. Both brother and sister were rushed to a nearby hospital where Chintu who was stabbed in the chest, died while undergoing treatment.
The LB Nagar police took Shiva into custody and registered a case under Section 302 and 307 of IPC. He told the police that he was upset after Sanghavi, who is his schoolmate, refused to marry him.
“We are yet to record Sanghavi’s statement as she is under treatment and unable to speak. Based on her statement we will alter Sections if necessary in the case,” said the official.
