Wellington captain Nick Kelly and Troy Johnson have taken the internet by storm by pulling off a never-before-seen catch during their Super Smash match against Central Districts on Saturday. New Zealand and Central Districts opener Will Young played a lofted shot towards long-on. Kelly, who was deployed at mid-on, made a desperate run backwards before catching the ball. As he was about to touch the rope while diving forward, Kelly showed great awareness to throw the ball back towards Johnson, who was making his way towards the boundary from long-off.
Johnson made no mistake as he pouched the ball after Kelly’s throw. The incident, which happened in the 6th over, has gone viral on social media.
