Yemen says will target US vessels, warships in multi-pronged retaliatory operation

Yemen says will target US vessels, warships in multi-pronged retaliatory operation

Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement says the Yemeni response to the US aggression against the Arab country will be carried out on the land and sea, and sternly warned that the American vessels and warships will be targeted in the Red Sea.

Nasr al-Din Amer, head of Ansarullah’s Information Department, made the warning on Friday and said the recent US attacks on Yemeni sites and infrastructure were “unsuccessful” and that Washington had failed to achieve any of its goals during the aggression.

“We have fully preserved our strength and forces and have the ability to target Israeli and American ships,” Amer said, adding that international shipping is completely safe for international ships in the strategic Red Sea and we will not target them.

“The response to the US aggression will be on land and sea and we will target its vessels and warships,” he underlined.

The Ansarullah official also said the US aggression was meant to serve Israel’s interests and that the Yemeni forces were not surprised by the attacks.

“It was Washington that stepped on international laws in order to serve the interests of the Zionist regime,” Amer said, adding that, “Before the start of the American attacks, we received threats but we did not pay attention to.”

Ibrahim al-Dailami, Yemen’s ambassador to Tehran, also said the Yemeni armed forces were not surprised by the Western attack as they had already been engaged in the Red Sea waters with the American and British forces.

“It is the Americans who are endangering the security of shipping by starting the war and committing foolish acts,” he added.

“The Americans have a great desire to escalate the tension and like to militarize the Red Sea, we consider it our duty to confront the Americans in the region, and as emphasized in the official statements on Friday, this attack will not go unanswered,” the ambassador added.

Early on Friday, the American and British warplanes targeted with 73 missiles five regions of Yemen, including the capital Sana’a and the provinces of Hudaydah, Ta’izz, Hajjah, and Sa’ada, killing at least five people and wounding six others.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said the United States and the United Kingdom bear full responsibility for the “criminal aggression,” and the attack against the country would not go “unanswered and unpunished.”

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.

The relentless Israeli military campaign against Gaza has killed at least 23,357 people, most of them women and children. Another 59,410 individuals have been wounded.

Reports revealed that Israeli shipping companies have already decided to reroute their vessels in fear of attacks by Yemeni forces.

Yemeni forces have also launched missile and drone attacks on targets in the Israeli-occupied territories after the regime’s aggression on Gaza.
