Counting of votes is underway in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana

As votes for assembly elections in four states – Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana – were counted, BJP won in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. In Telangana, the Congress wrested power from the BRS.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this is a victory for “honesty, transparency, and good governance”. “The idea of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ has won today,” he said.
BJP leaders credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Amit Shah’s strategy, and the party’s welfare policies for the positive trends that show a clear victory for the party in three states. The opposition, however, claims that the results will not have any impact on the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
Five states – Mizoram, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana went to polls this year, which is being viewed as the semi-final to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission of India has, however, revised the date for counting of votes for Mizoram where voting was conducted on November 7.
Voting was held in Madhya Pradesh on November 17. Rajasthan and Telangana voted in a single phase on November 25 and November 30 respectively. Chhattisgarh voted on November 7 and November 17.

Congress heavy-weight and Chhattisgarh’s outgoing deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo lost the state elections to BJP’s Rajesh Agrawal by a margin of 8,367 votes. He was one of the party veterans the Congress was banking on this election.
The Assembly poll results have proven that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee works in India, BJP chief JP Nadda said today as he slammed the Opposition INDIA bloc for allegedly trying to divide the country on caste lines, reported news agency PTI.
“The poll results give out the message that the nation has understood that only Modi ji can provide decisive leadership and empower farmers, poor, deprived classes,” JP Nadda said. “This election makes it clear that there is only one guarantee in the country, that is the Modi guarantee,” he said.
Union Minister Arjun Munda on Sunday said the assembly poll results in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chattishgarh showed that people have rejected Congress outright and reposed faith in the leadership of the BJP, reported news agency PTI. Mr Munda, the tribal affairs minister, gave credits to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “efficient” leadership, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s strategy and BJP president JP Nada’s guidance for the party’s victory in the three states.

After a big defeat in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot told NDTV, “The results are shocking. We have not only lost in Rajasthan but also in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, I’m here to help people and I will continue to do so, doesn’t matter if I’m in power or not”.
The BJP has claimed a massive win in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election. This is despite exit polls predicting a tight race and some even giving the Congress an outside chance of ousting the BJP from a state it has dominated since 2003.
In Rajasthan, the Congress’s fears of an infighting scuttling its prospects has come true. Despite the party’s attempts to show a united front, the power tussle between the Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot camps appears to have hit the party’s chances.

NCP leader Supriya Sule said that the results for assembly elections won’t have any impact on the Lok Sabha polls in 2024. “In 2019, Congress won in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh but something else happened in the Lok Sabha polls. It is too early to decide anything,” Ms Sule said.
Princess Diya Kumari, a member of the erstwhile Jaipur royal family, won from Vidhyadhar Nagar. The blend of regal heritage and a down-to-earth persona has made her a popular figure among the people of Rajasthan. Diya Kumari joined the BJP in 2013. Since then, she has won the two elections she contested.
