President Ebrahim Raeisi of Iran has urged the Muslim world to immediately stop Israel’s “war machine, crimes and genocide” against the Palestinian people.
Raeisi was speaking on the phone with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Saturday.
“Today, the Palestinian nation needs effective global support. The nation especially needs unity among Muslim countries more than ever before, so that the Zionist regime faces an end to its genocidal atrocities.”
The Iranian president said the regime is committing war crimes in Gaza upon the green light given by the Western camp led by the United States.
Raeisi underscored the fact that Israel’s latest crimes in Gaza have been without precedent, leading to a deplorable humanitarian situation in the besieged Palestinian territory through water and electricity cuts and blocking the entry of food and medicine.
Iran’s president urged the global Muslim community to take a decisive and clear stance on the need to support the oppressed Palestinian people.
Israel has been engaged in a ferocious war on Gaza since October 7, when Hamas and its fellow Gaza-based resistance movement of the Islamic Jihad launched their biggest operation against the occupiers in years. The surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm came in response to the regime’s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.
The death toll since the start of the Israeli carnage has reached 7,650 with upwards of 20,500 Palestinians wounded. A staggering 70% of the casualties in Gaza are children, women, and the elderly.
The Qatari Emir, for his part, said the developments in Gaza prove the disgraced policies of the Western countries. Al Thani added that unity among the regional and Muslim countries can stop the Israeli regime’s war machine.
He reiterated Qatar’s support for the absolute rights of the Palestinian nation in self-determination and self-defense and said Israel has breached all international rules and humanitarian principles.
