Team India maintained their dominance in the ODI World Cup 2023 as they defeated New Zealand by four wickets in Dharamsala on Sunday. Put to bat first, the visitors posted a total of 273 with Daryl Mitchell smashing 130 runs. However, the Rohit Sharma-led team chased down the target with two overs to spare, courtesy of Virat Kohli‘s crucial knock of 95 runs. Apart from Kohli, it was pacer Mohammed Shami, who registered a five-wicket haul and restricted the mighty Kiwis at a below-par score.

Celebrating India’s win, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals took to X (formerly Twitter), shared a hilarious video to sum the hosts victory against the Blackcaps. The video was an edit made out from a scene from famous 2011 Bollywood film, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.

New Zealand were off to a solid start but sensational displays by Mohammed Shami and Virat Kohli meant that the Rohit Sharma-led side registered their fifth victory on the trot in the competition.

India are now top of the table with 10 points and a Net Run Rate of +1.353. This was the first loss for New Zealand who are second with 8 points from 5 matches with a NRR of +1.481.

Virat Kohli was once again the top performer for the Indian cricket team as he missed his 49th ODI century by a whisker. Kohli was dismissed for 95 after stitching together a crucial partnership with Ravindra Jadeja. Rohit Sharma provided a perfect start to the Indian cricket team with a 40-ball-46.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell hit a gutsy hundred before India pacer Mohammed Shami sizzled with a five-wicket haul in his first game of the Cricket World Cup 2023 to restrict New Zealand to 273 all out.
