Israel issues new evacuation warnings for Gazans amid bombardment

Israel issues new evacuation warnings for Gazans amid bombardment

The Israeli regime’s military has issued a new warning to Palestinians living in Gaza to evacuate the northern part of the besieged enclave and move to the south, as the occupation forces continue their bombardment.

Leaflets were dropped by Israeli drones in northern Gaza on Saturday, warning residents of Gaza that if they don’t follow the evacuation order, they would be identified as “a partner in a terrorist organization.”

The latest warning comes a week after Israel ordered 1.1 million residents in the northern part of the Gaza Strip to head to the south, with no guarantee of safety or return.

A senior Israeli official also said that civilian infrastructure being used by Hamas turns “a private home into a legitimate target.”

“Anyone who supports that home is a legitimate target,” he added, Israeli media reported.

The latest development comes as Israel has intensified its deadly bombing on Gaza and it is preparing for a ground invasion of the enclave. However, many refuse to leave their homes despite the threat of airstrikes.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli airstrike on the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin left at least two Palestinians killed and three others injured.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas launched a surprise attack against the occupying regime.

More than 4,380 Palestinians, mostly women, children, and other civilians, have been killed across the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli bombardments. Over 14,000 people have also been injured.

According to the Euro-Med human rights monitor, over a quarter of the area of Gaza City and northern Gaza has been affected by the destruction, and 20 percent of houses there are no longer fit for habitation.

Another Palestinian journalist killed in Israeli attack

Meanwhile, another Palestinian journalist has been killed after Israeli airstrikes targeted his home in Gaza.

International photojournalist Wissam Nassar said on Instagram that his colleague Rushdi Sarraj was killed in Israeli bombardment on his house, adding that he was a talented photojournalist and director creatively telling the stories of Gazans under war and siege.

Ali Jadallah, a Palestinian photojournalist working for Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency, also announced his death, as he posted on Instagram the purported body bag of Sarraj with his name on it.

Several other local journalists on social media also reported the Palestinian journalist’s death.

On October 10, three Palestinian journalists were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in western parts of Gaza, while they were covering the evacuation of a threatened building.

The Media Office in Gaza said the journalists were clearly identifiable as press members. They were wearing safety gear and distinctive journalist markings, which the office said should have been easily discernible to the Israeli military aircraft.
