Iran, Pakistan agree on strengthening bilateral cooperation

Public relations of the Ministry of Information of Balochistan State of Pakistan reported of the seventh meeting of the Permanent Border Committee hosted by Iran was held in the border city of “Mirjaveh”. At the end of the meeting, the two sides signed the agreement of the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee of the Border Commission of the two countries.

A high-ranking delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran from various institutions attended the meeting, and the delegation of Pakistan was headed by “Abdul Salam Khan Achakzai”, the deputy minister of the Interior of Balochistan province.

The statement public relations department of the government of Balochistan Province stated that “The officials of Iran and Pakistan emphasized each other’s commitment to facilitating trade and movement of people along the common borders.”

The two sides also agreed on the intensification of efforts to tackle human and drug trafficking, especially identifying and fighting against terrorist elements and gangs.

The heads of the Iranian and Pakistani delegations further reviewed the strengthening of mutual strategies to eliminate smuggling, fight against smugglers and prevent border violations, including illegal travels.

While agreeing on the opening of new border crossings between Iran and Pakistan, they emphasized accelerating the activation of border markets and taking coordinated steps to strengthen commercial cooperation.
