New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Indian athletes who won medals on Wednesday at the Asian Games in Hangzhou and said they continue to script history at the games.
“An exemplary Gold for India. Congratulations to the 25m Pistol Women Team, comprising Manu Bhaker, Rhythm Sangwan and Esha Singh for their spectacular victory! Their remarkable teamwork has yielded great results. Best wishes for their future endeavours,” Modi posted on X.
He added, “Our dedicated and talented 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women’s Team has clinched a well-deserved Silver Medal in the Asian Games. They have demonstrated extraordinary talent. Congratulations to Sift Kaur Samra, Ashi Chouksey and Manini Kaushik.” The triumvirate of Bhaker, Singh and Sangwan fired in tandem to shoot the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event, as Indian shooters dominated proceedings at the Hangzhou Shooting Range Hall.
In another post, Modi said, “Our athletes continue to script history at the Asian Games! Congratulations to Anant Jeet Singh Naruka for winning a historic Silver Medal in the Skeet Men’s Shooting event. This is the first ever medal won by India in this event in any Asian Games.” May this success inspire the coming generations, he said.
India’s Anant Jeet Singh Naruka claimed the silver medal in men’s skeet event at the Asian Games, adding to the team bronze he won alongside Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Gurjoat Khangura.
Naruka performed well and looked on course to win the gold, having not missed a shot until the business end of the final.
“Congratulations @SiftSamra for scripting history at the Asian Games by bringing home the prized Gold Medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women’s shooting,” the prime minister said in another post.
“That she has set a record makes it even more joyous. She is an inspiration to every Indian. Best wishes for her upcoming endeavours,” he said.

In the same event, Ashi Chouksey, who was in contention for a silver, settled for bronze with a score of 451.9, while Esha Singh claimed silver in the women’s 25m pistol event with a total of 34.
