The European Union’s foreign policy chief has condemned the Israeli strike on a World Central Kitchen team operating in the Gaza Strip.

Josep Borrell on Tuesday denounced the attack on the aid workers who were delivering humanitarian food aid much needed in the besieged Palestinian territory. He paid tribute to the seven killed staff members of the US-based charity organization.

“I condemn the attack and urge an investigation,” Borrell said in a post on X. “Despite all the demands to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, we see new innocent casualties.”

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has also said he was “shocked and saddened” to hear about the strike. “Clearly there are questions that need to be answered.”

Irish Foreign and Defense Minister Micheal Martin also condemned the strike. “Appalled by the deaths of humanitarian workers in an Israeli strike, killed providing life-saving aid to the people of Gaza,” he said on X.

“Full accountability is needed. This again underlines the need for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and allow full humanitarian access.”

The World Central Kitchen said staff from Australia, Poland, the UK, and a US-Canada citizen were killed in the “targeted Israeli strike.”

It said its team was traveling in two armored cars and a soft skin vehicle in a “deconflicted zone” when it was targeted by the Israeli regime forces.

“The convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza on the maritime route,” the group said in its statement.

The group said prior to its movements it had coordinated with the Israeli regime forces.

Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that the Israeli regime forces had carried out the brutal attack.

Khammam: A BRS delegation led by the party Khammam Lok Sabha candidate Nama Nageswara Rao and MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra submitted a petition to district Collector VP Gautham on farmers’ issues here on Tuesday evening.

The delegation demanded the Congress government to solve the problems faced by the people and farmers, to pay compensation of Rs 25, 000 per acre to the farmers who have lost crops, to give an additional bonus of Rs 500 for paddy and address drinking water shortage.

Speaking on the occasion, Nageswara Rao said that the people and farmers were suffering due to the shortage of drinking and irrigation water like never before. Pressure would be put on the government until the problems were solved and BRS would be ready for any kind of struggle.

He demanded the government to immediately conduct a survey and estimate the extent of damage and pay compensation to the farmers immediately. BRS delegation toured the district and said that it was found that paddy, maize and other crops were badly damaged.

BRS district president MLC Tata Madhusudan, ZP chairman Lingala Kamal Raju, ex-MLA Madan Lal, party leaders Kondabala Koteswa Rao and Bellam Venu were present.

BRS wants Govt to procure entire crop, provide Rs 500 bonus

BRS leaders led by district president GV Ramakrishna Rao, former MLA Sunke Ravishankar and others submitted a representation to Collector Pamela Satpathy here on Tuesday, demanding the government to protect the interests of farmers.

Karimnagar: The district unit of the BRS demanded the State government to procure the entire crop produced in the Yasangi season besides providing a bonus of Rs.500 per quintal as promised before the Assembly elections.

BRS leaders led by district president GV Ramakrishna Rao, former MLA Sunke Ravishankar and others submitted a representation to Collector Pamela Satpathy here on Tuesday, demanding the government to protect the interests of farmers.

Later, speaking to reporters, they wanted the government to instill confidence among the farmers by giving Rs 25,000 compensation to crops that withered due to lack of water and were damaged by unseasonal rains. The government had promised to waive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh in December itself but did not fulfill its promise. This was the right time to fulfill its promise, they said.

Ravishankar said though adequate water was available in irrigation projects, the State government was not supplying water to standing crops. When former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao visited Nalgonda, the government immediately released water into the flood flow canal by operating the Gayatri pump house.

How did the water come suddenly, he asked, stating that to blame Chandrashekhar Rao, the government was lying that water was not available in projects. Not a single tank had dried up in the 10 year regime of the BRS. Though the State received adequate rains in the last monsoon, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy was lying that drought occured in the State due to lack of rains.

Harish Rao urges govt to clear Rs 80 crore pending bills to dairy farmers

Harish Rao

Hyderabad: BRS senior leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao shot another missive to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy seeking release of Rs.80 crore to clear pending bills pertaining to two lakh dairy farmers. He said the bills were pending for the last 45 days, causing much inconvenience to dairy farmers.

In an open letter, Harish Rao stated that during the BRS regime, the dairy bills were cleared once in every 15 days, but the Congress-led State government kept them pending for the last 45 days. He reminded that dairy farmers purchase cattle by obtaining loans from banks, Self Help Groups and even moneylenders which requires them to prompt repayment of installments. Further, they also require capital for other needs like fodder, medicines and other material for the cattle.

“As majority of the dairy farmers belong to poor and middle-class, they are struggling to meet their needs due to delay in release of pending bills. I urge the State government to immediately release the amount,” he said.

Israel’s destruction of Shifa Hospital rips heart out of Gaza health system: WHO

Israel’s total destruction of al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical facility in the Gaza Strip, has ripped the heart out of the healthcare system in the besieged Palestinian territory, says the World Health Organization (WHO).

Israeli forces imposed a siege and started a raid on the hospital on March 18.

On Monday, the regime confirmed the withdrawal of its forces from the complex, which, according to officials and eyewitnesses, is left in an “indescribable” situation.

WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris said on Tuesday that al-Shifa is “no longer able to function in any shape or form as a hospital.”

“Destroying al-Shifa means ripping the heart out of the health system,” Harris said.

“It was the place people go to for the kind of care that a really good health system provides, that we in all our societies expect to have should we be in need.”

Israel’s military claimed its troops had killed Hamas fighters and seized weaponry and intelligence documents in the hospital.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has repeatedly denied the claims, saying those who were killed in the raid on the hospital were patients, medical workers and displaced civilians.

Palestinian officials have said the raid on the hospital that was treating severely wounded patients is “a war crime and is part of the war of genocide conducted by the Israeli occupation.” Al-Shifa has also sheltered thousands of Palestinians who fled Israel’s hostilities in northern parts of the territory.

Hundreds of people returned to the hospital and the surrounding area after the regime’s forces withdrawal early on Monday.

One of those who returned, Mohammed Mahdi, described a scene of “total destruction.”

He said several buildings had been burned down and that he had counted six bodies in the area, including two in the hospital courtyard.

According to residents, Israel’s bulldozers had ploughed over a makeshift cemetery inside the hospital compound, where there were patients, medical workers and displaced people still sheltering.

Punishment For Ishan? MI Star Spotted Wearing 'Superhero' Suit In Flight

Mumbai Indians Star Spotted In Punishment Jumpsuit After Heavy Defeat Against Rajasthan Royals

Mumbai Indians star batter Ishan Kishan and spinner Kumar Kartikeya were among the players who wore superhero jumpsuits as punishments. As the team was leaving Mumbai a day after its IPL 2024 match against Rajasthan Royals, the likes of Kishan and Kartikeya were among the four MI players who were punished. It is worth noting that the five-time champions MI punish their players, who are late to team meetings, in this funny way. MI also uploaded a video on social media in which the four players could be seen donning the funny jumpsuits. “Punishment jumpsuits are back,” was the caption of the video.

Watch it here:

Pace bowler Trent Boult returned figures of 3 for 22 to set up a crushing six-wicket victory for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL match against winless Mumbai Indians on Monday.

Boult’s sensational spell of left-arm pace helped restrict hosts Mumbai to 125-9, a total Rajasthan overhauled with 27 balls to spare for their third win of the season in three matches.

Five-time winners Mumbai, who named Hardik Pandya as captain in place of veteran Rohit Sharma, fell to their third loss to stay bottom of the 10-team table.

Pandya had another unforgettable evening after he met with boos at the toss by the home fans, prompting presenter Sanjay Manjrekar to say “behave”.

“Yes, a tough night, we didn’t start the way we wanted to start,” Pandya said after the loss.

Pandya top-scored with 34 for Mumbai but admitted his wicket made them slip.

“I wanted to counter, we were in a decent position to get us around 150-160,” said Pandya. “But my wicket allowed them to get back more into the game, I needed to do a lot more.”

In-form Rajasthan batter Riyan Parag hammered an unbeaten 54 off 39 balls for his second successive fifty as he steered the team to victory with two sixes and a four.

But Rajasthan bowlers ruled with Boult’s lethal opening burst giving way to Yuzvendra Chahal‘s 3 for 11 with his leg-spin.

Hyderabad Traffic Police crackdown on nuisance of modified silencers

Hyderabad: Amid complaints on nuisance by motorists using aftermarket or modified silencers, the traffic police have launched a crackdown across the city.

In the last few weeks, around 1,900 cases were booked in the central and north areas of Hyderabad, and sending a strong message, the traffic cops bulldozed nearly 1000 silencers seized during a drive against the violators.

The aftermarket silencers leave city dwellers high and dry as the deafening sound turns unbearable for many and particularly for the children, senior citizens and patients.

“The horrific sound of the modified silencers, especially during nights when there are no traffic cops around, is very disturbing. Traffic police should work towards ending the nuisance,” pointed out Niyaz Ahmed, a lecturer from Rajendranagar.

Farzana Begum, a school teacher and resident of Falaknuma, complain that the motorcycles zooming around on the road near her house end up disturbing her children and their sleep.

“The kids wake up with a start and cry,” she said. Abdul Sattar, a businessman from Kalapather said some youngsters having Royal Enfield, Classic or Yamaha, have their bikes altered.

“The deafening sound disturbs the peaceful sleep of residents,” he complained.

The traffic police said they were continuing enforcement against motorcycles fixed with modified silencers. “Cases are booked regularly against such violations.

If people have any problem, they can complain to the local traffic inspector or even at law & order police station against the errant owners. Higher officials can also be approached,” said DCP (Traffic) II, N Ashok Kumar.

EU reacts to Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Syria

The EU said Tuesday that it was “alarmed by the Israeli strike” on the Iranian consulate in Syria’s Damascus and warned against any escalation after Tehran vowed revenge.

In continuation of the support for the Zionist regime, EU spokesman Peter Stano said, “In this highly tense regional situation, it is really of utmost importance to show restraint because the further escalation in the region is in no one’s interests, ” Agence France Presse (AFP) reported.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday evening. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred in the terrorist attack.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani said on Monday night that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to take countermeasures and will decide on the type of reaction and punishment of the aggressor on its own.

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Ambassador to Syria stressed that the country will give a decisive response to the Israeli regime.
