Footage shows Israeli forces killing two unarmed Palestinians in Gaza City

Israeli military forces have killed two unarmed Palestinian men in the northern Gaza Strip, new footage shows, as the occupying regime continues its genocidal war against the besieged territory.

The disturbing incident, which was captured by long-distance cameras, shows Israeli troops opening fire on the two men who were walking along al-Rashid Street and al-Nablusi roundabout in Gaza City.

Before fatally shooting the Palestinian men, the regime’s soldiers gave them a false sense of safety as the two were waving a piece of white cloth in a sign of surrender.

The footage also shows Israeli soldiers trying to bury them with sand and garbage using a bulldozer.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas reacted to the incident, saying “it was further evidence to fascism and criminality that governs the Zionist regime’s behavior in its Gaza genocide.”

Hamas also called on the United Nations to hold the Israeli regime accountable for its crimes committed against unarmed civilians in Gaza.

The latest development comes as the Israeli regime has carried out eight attacks across Gaza in the past 24 hours, resulting in the death of 76 Palestinians and injuring of 102 others, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

In the southern city of Rafah, the occupying regime attacked a greenhouse near the al-Shaboura refugee camp, killing 4 people, including a woman.

An Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the western part of Gaza also left seven Palestinians dead.

Dozens were also wounded in Israeli strikes on al-Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

An Israeli strike on a building full of people near the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City also killed several people and trapped 6 children under the rubble.

Israel continues to target residential areas and healthcare facilities across Gaza for nearly six months, despite a recent UN Security Council resolution that demands an immediate ceasefire.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the latest figures brought the total number of people Israel has killed in Gaza since early October last year to more than 32,500. Over 74,000 others have also been injured.

Israel unleashed its war on Gaza on October 7 after Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The Tel Aviv regime has also imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

On Monday, the UN Security Council adopted a long-awaited resolution that demands an immediate ceasefire for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The UN Security Council’s call for a ceasefire comes as international fears have grown over the planned Israeli ground invasion of Rafah, where more than one million Palestinians have sought shelter.

Trinamool leader Mahua Moitra is likely to skip summons issued by Directorate of Enforcement (ED) to question her in connection with a foreign exchange violation case today. The probe agency sent its third summons to the West Bengal leader on Wednesday after she skipped the first two over scheduling conflicts.

Ms Moitra was supposed to appear before the probe agency at its Delhi office today but will instead be campaigning for her party in West Bengal’s Krishnanagar. “I will be out for campaigning in the Krishnangar constituency in the afternoon,” she told reporters, news agency PTI said.

The ED wants to question her over transactions linked to a non-resident external, or NRE, account, sources said on Wednesday. Ms Moitra has denied any wrongdoing in the matter.

The former MP was expelled from Lok Sabha last year over cash-for-query allegations. She was accused of receiving “luxury gifts” and ₹ 2 crore in cash from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to ask questions critical of the government in Parliament.

A parliamentary ethics panel had found her conduct “immoral” and “indecent” after she allegedly  shared log-in details to her parliament MP account with Mr Hiranandani. The account was also allegedly accessed multiple times overseas.

Mr Hiranandani has also been called for questioning in a case related to his Mumbai-based real estate group. Earlier his father, Niranjan Hiranandani, was also questioned.

On Saturday, the former MP’s Kolkata home was searched by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the cash-for-query case after it registered an FIR against Mahua Moitra.

Last week, the anti-corruption body Lokpal asked the central agency to probe the allegations against her and submit a report in six months.

Congress trolled for typo in announcing candidates for Adilabad LS

Adilabad: The Congress announced candidates for 14 Lok Sabha segments including the much- awaited Adilabad on Wednesday night. It faced embarrassment when users of social media platforms trolled the national party for committing a typo in mentioning the name of a nominee for Adilabad.

As per the list of 14 candidates shared with the media with an undersignature of AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, Dr Suguna Kumari Chelimala is the nominee of Adilabad Parliament segment reserved for ST in place of Athram Suguna. But, Suguna Kumari, a two-time Parliamentarian was a frontrunner for the ticket of Peddapalli. Moreover, she belongs to the SC community.

“Has the Congress altered Suguna Kumari’s caste?” a WhatsApp user asked. Anything is possible in the Congress, another user quipped. A user wondered if it was typed Adilabad instead of Peddapalli. “She could feel content mentioning her name though she was rejected the ticket,” another user opined. Other users trolled the party citing the error.

However, after realising that the list had an error, the party issued a statement to the press admitting to the typo. “A typographical error occurred in the name for the Adilabad segment has been corrected. The name of the candidate is Athram Suguna,” the statement read. The message brought huge relief to Suguna, a teacher turned politician.

Sensing trouble, Suguna had already embarked on a damage controlling mission by requesting the users of social media not to get carried away by the error. She was then congratulated by the users after her name was officially announced by the Congress from the Adilabad segment.

Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju and in-charge minister Seethakka are learnt to have backed up her candidature.

Hyderabad: After his side’s 31-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins said that they finished the game well.

While speaking at the post-match presentation, Cummins showered praise on Abhishek Sharma and said that he was “impressive” in the game.

Talking about the pitch, the SRH skipper said that it was a “good” wicket. He added that the hosts were “postive” and “aggressive” in the first inning for which they could put the highest score in the history of the IPL.

“That was insane. The ball was really pinging around. Not until we bowled, it got a bit too close for comfort. They found a boundary whenever they needed it, but we finished it off well. (On Abhishek Sharma) Really impressive, in IPL you play with a lot of pressure but he plays with great freedom. (On plans in first innings) You never play for 270, but we wanted to be postive and be aggressive, take the game on. It was a good wicket, so we have to suck it up knowing we would go for a few boundaries. What’s important is to have clear plans with the ball,” Cummins said.
Recapping the match, MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked the hosts, SRH, to bat first at Hyderabad’s Rajiv

Gandhi International Stadium. Openers Mayank Aggarwal and Travis Head played attacking shots from the start of the inning. They built a partnership of 45 runs in just 4 overs before Mayank was dismissed on the first ball of the inning by Hardik.

Markram came to support Abhishek after Head’s wicket. Both batters played brilliantly and put on a partnership of 48 runs in just 19 balls before Abhishek was dismissed after playing a marvellous inning of 63 runs in just 23 balls with the help of seven maximums and three boundaries.

Following Abhishek’s wicket, Klassen came into the middle to bat along with Markram. Both of them built an unbeaten partnership of 116 runs off just 55 balls. Markram and Klaasen were on the crease and powered Hyderabad to a total of 277/3 after the end of the 20th over.

During the run chase, Rohit Sharma (26 runs from 12 balls) and Ishan Kishan (34 balls from 13 balls) opened for the visitors and gave the Mumbai-based franchise a fiery start. However, two quick dismissals helped Hyderabad to make a comeback in the match. Tilak Varma (64 runs from 34 balls) was the only standout batter for Mumbai. He slammed two fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 188.24 during his time on the crease. Tim David (42 runs from 22 balls) tried to make a partnership with Tilak but still failed to chase the high-scoring target. Jaydev Unadkat and Pat Cummins led the Hyderabad bowling attack as they scalped two wickets each in their respective spells.
