UP Doctor Says He Followed IIT-JEE Aspirant's Strict Schedule For 3 Years

Noida Doctor Says He Followed IIT-JEE Aspirant's Strict Schedule For 3 Years: ''There's No Shortcut''

The viral photo has sparked a heated debate on social media

The IIT JEE (Indian Institute of Technology – Joint Entrance Exam) is considered to be one of the toughest in the country which demands strategic planning, focused dedication, and a disciplined approach. Recently, a photo of a 17-year-old’s demanding schedule for JEE preparation went viral, shedding light on the dedication and commitment required to succeed in such competitive exams. The viral photo sparked a heated debate on social media, with several other aspirants and IITians discussing the number of hours needed for preparation for such exams.

Reacting to the photo, a doctor said that he followed the same schedule during his preparation days and stated ”there is no shortcut to success”. Notably, the Noida-based doctor now specialises in internal medicine while his brother is an IIT-Delhi alumnus. The doctor said he and his brother followed the same kind of gruelling schedule for three years and got admission into one of the best government medical colleges. Meanwhile, his brother also got a good branch at IIT Delhi and is now settled in the US.

”Me and my brother almost followed the same routine for 3 years, I got one of the best govt medical colleges and he got a good branch @ IIT Delhi, now settled in the US. Telling you there is no shortcut,” Dr Shraddhey Katiyar wrote on X.

See the tweet here:

Several users agreed with his tweet, saying that aspirants who come from humble backgrounds have no option, but to put in the hours.

One user said, ”Absolutely no shortcut. I have still kept my schedule of study for 6 months before my CA final. Pushing myself to 18 hours a day of study and finding variance in each hour of scheduled study.I cleared at the first attempt at 21 years of age.”

Another commented, ”Almost everything that you want to achieve requires grit of iron, sustained efforts. Might sound repetitive or boring but that makes you stand apart from the rest. That makes you one whom the rest will look up to in times to come.”

A third added, ”Indeed demonstrate discipline and commitment and were destined to succeed. Kudos.”

According to the schedule, the 17-year-old aspirant gets up at 4:30 am every day, after sleeping at midnight, getting just 4.5 hours of sleep. The rest of the day goes into revising old chapters, attending class, and completing class work with hardly any time for leisure or other activities.

Meanwhile, Kalpit Veerwal, who scored full marks in the first part of the entrance test (JEE Main) in 2017, also reacted to the post and remarked that he didn’t study as much as depicted in the viral schedule.

"Top 5 Bowler In IPL": R Ashwin's Extraordinary Praise For RR Star

Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised right-arm seamer Sandeep Sharma following his brilliant performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday. Riding on Sanju Samson’s onslaught and Trent Boult’s brilliance, RR started their IPL 2024 campaign with a win at home as RR registered a 20-run victory against LSG at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Sandeep grabbed one wicket and conceded just 22 runs in his spell of three overs. He bowled exceptionally well in the death overs at guided his side to a comfortable victory.

The 37-year-old cricketer spoke about the partnership between Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag. Both the batters put on a partnership of 93 runs in 59 balls. Where on one side, Samson played an unbeaten knock of 82 runs off 52 balls which was laced with six maximums and three fourson the other hand Parag scored important 43 runs in 29 balls which included three sixes and a four in his innings.

“I think it was a wicket of two halves, I thought it stuck in the pitch in the first half, it was a bit tacky, it depends on how much water you put on. Sanju and Riyan batted really well, but I felt we were 10 runs short, with so many impact players coming up in the form of Hetmyer and Jurel. But the pitch holds up well over here. I went for 12 off the first two balls, it needs a different mindset, having come from Test cricket. I’m in a good mental and physical space at the moment though. I went for 15 in the 1st over in the powerplay, I bowl 2 or 3 at times, I try to forget it away, it’s a different ball game after the powerplay,” Ashwin said in a post-match interview.

The Chennai-born player further stated that the right-arm pacer from South Africa performed really well in the first game of his IPL career and he is sure that he will perform really well in the near future.

“The game is built by perceptions, if you look at the way Sandy has bowled, he has been a top-5 bowler (in the IPL)- he’s a character, does the dirty work for us, did a lot to cover for Prasidh in the last season as well. I see him as a fighter – bowlers getting 2 bouncers is the only fillip in this format and the bowlers are looking to use it. Boult has performed for a long time and Nandre did well in his 1st game, I see him doing a lot more in the future,” the veteran off-spinner added.

Coming to the match, the hosts, the Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first.

Openers Jos Buttler (11) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (24 in 12 balls, with three fours and a six) departed without making much impact, reducing the team to 49/2. Following that, a 93-run partnership happened between Riyan and skipper Sanju, who scored 82* in 52 balls, with three fours and six sixes. Dhruv Jurel (20* in 12 balls, with a four and six) finished off well to take RR to 193/4 in 20 overs.

LSG was reduced to 11/3 in the chase of 194 runs. Then Deepak Hooda (26 in 13 balls, with two fours and two sixes) along with KL stabilised the innings a bit. Following Hooda’s dismissal, which left LSG at 60/4, KL stitched an 85-run stand with Nicholas Pooran (64 in 41 balls, with four boundaries and four sixes). But a win was not meant to be for LSG as RR made a comeback with timely wickets, reducing LSG to 173/6 in 20 overs.

Trent Boult (2/35) was the pick of the bowlers for RR. Sandeep, Ashwin, Nandre Burger and Yuzvendra Chahal took a wicket each.

Samson was given the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his half-century.

'Can't Digest India's Success': Indian Student In UK Alleges Hate Campaign

'Can't Digest India's Success': Indian Student In UK Alleges Hate Campaign

Satyam Surana is pursuing LLM at the London School of Economics

London:

Satyam Surana, an Indian student, who came to the limelight when he picked up the tricolour from the road, defying the attack at the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom by extremist elements last year, is now alleging hate and smear campaigns against him during the student union elections at the London School of Economics this year.

Satyam has alleged that, just 12 hours before the voting, a very ‘well-planned’ campaign was launched against him, somehow linking him with the Bharatiya Janata Party and calling him a ‘fascist’ to boycott him and his campaign.

The Pune-born student has also practiced at the Bombay High Court for some months and is pursuing an LLM at the London School of Economics with his course ending later this year.

Elaborating on the whole set of incidents, he said that the LSE elections were declared in February and early March and he filed the nomination for the post of general secretary.

“From March 14-15, we noticed that my posters were being ripped off, torn. We complained to the authorities. After we replaced our posters, on March 16, we saw that some posters were defaced. There were crosses on my face, it was written ‘anyone but Satyam’. I was cancelled out,” Satyam told the news agency ANI.

“On March 17 afternoon, there were messages in all groups of LSE. Indian groups, law school groups. The messages claimed, ‘This Satyam Surana is a BJP supporter, he is a fascist person, an Islamophobe, transphobe’. The messages were so seditious and contentious of the Indian government and the current establishment,” he added.

Satyam alleged that the radical elements also screenshotted his posts on social media handle X, where he had merely praised the BJP government, but his posts were used with a malicious agenda to call him a “fascist.”

He also said that his manifesto had no political points, but merely contained the genuine issues on campus. Even though he initially got overwhelming support, this hate campaign derailed his chances.

“With my entire team, I went through the entire campus. We were reaching out across departments and explaining our policies. I had a very well-written and well-drafted manifesto, which was not at all political. It said how things need improvement at LSE, how there is a need for a grievance redressal portal, having subsidised food on campus. We were getting support and people were saying that they would vote for me,” Satyam said.

“But, out of the three people, it was only me who was targeted randomly. When these messages started coming, my entire team was shocked, we were in a dilemma, and the entire moral conscience of the team was shattered,” he added.

Recalling the episode from the Indian High Commission last year, Satyam said, “Somewhere around early October, I was in the news because I picked up the national flag outside the Indian High Commission among the Khalistani protestors. I was blessed to receive media coverage. I was interviewed by national media channels.”

He further said that he was targeted for calling Khalistanis as ‘terrorists’ in one of his posts.

“See, this is my country. I will always be an advocate for my country. How is Indian politics relevant to the student union elections in the UK? My views and endorsements of my government are entirely my opinion,” Satyam added.

The Indian student said that his photograph with Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis — which was clicked when he was invited by Mr Fadnavis during his India visit — was used by the extremist elements to claim that he is linked to the BJP.

He further pointed out that since the whole smear campaign against him was targeting the ‘right-wing’, Satyam believes that the campaign was planned by ‘left-wing’ groups.

“I was called a Neo-Nazi supporter, Right Wing, out of campus. See, when the message heading was circulated as the right wing out of campus, it is very clear that the campaign was dictated and planned by the left wing,” he said.

On being asked if the hate campaign against him was started by an Indian person or a foreigner, Satyam said that the first message he received was from an Indian and most of those involved in this campaign were Indians only.

He added that this was not a random or personal campaign, but a “well-planned hate and toolkit campaign” involving people who are politically motivated against the incumbent BJP government in India.

Satyam even claims that those who targeted him are part of that group that can’t digest the success of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and hence spread such false and malicious propaganda.

“The people of the international community are not aware of what is going on in India. Every international person is looking up to India and looking up to the current Prime Minister as a stalwart legendary politician. Our Prime Minister has the highest approval rating in the entire world, we have shown what we can do during COVID-19, and we are emerging as the third-largest economy. But, sadly these groups who can’t digest this fact are spreading not misinformation, but disinformation,” Satyam said.

However, Satyam was not able to go past the finish line despite gathering support in the initial phase of the campaign. He believes that the way his campaign was targeted and hampered it hurt his goodwill.

He further said that this campaign did have a huge impact on him and his life at the campus, even after the elections were over. But, he also acknowledged that he did get support from many people who stood by him in this hour.

Satyam stated that the point in the episode that hurts him the most is the fact that the majority of people who carried out the hate campaign against him were actually Indians only.

“The only thing that hurts is that these were our fellow Indian students who circulated these messages and questioned the sovereignty of India…how shameless can people be to forward these messages? I can’t believe Indian students forwarding the messages and hampering the sovereignty and integrity of our country,” he added.

Floating wooden door from ‘Titanic’ fetches over Rs 5 crore at auction

Los Angeles: The wooden slab that Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet hang onto in the last scene of filmmaker James Cameron’s 1997 film ‘Titanic’ has fetched over Rs 5 crore ($718,750) at an auction.

Heritage Auctions announced that its recent Treasures From Planet Hollywood auction collected Rs 1,56,80,000 ($15.68) million in total, reports people.com.

Movie props that were sold at the auction included Harrison Ford’s bullwhip from 1984’s ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’, the axe Jack Nicholson wielded in 1980’s ‘The Shining’ and, the piece of balsa wood.

While the prop item is referred to as the “floating door” by fans of the movie, the item is actually “part of the door frame just above the (ship’s) first-class lounge entrance,” as per the auction.

The iconic prop sold for Rs 5 crore $718,750 at the auction and turned out to be the event’s highest-selling item, among 16 total props that sold for more than Rs 83,36,960 ($100,000).

The wooden door was not the only prop from Cameron’s film made available at the auction. A prototype of the same piece of wood sold for Rs 1,04,21,200 ($125,000), while the wheel used for the boat in the movie sold for Rs 1,66,74,030 ($200,000).

The dress Winslet wore in the film’s final scene as her character Rose and DiCaprio’s character Jack descend into the water, sold for Rs 99,00,205 ($118,750), while a telegraph prop used in the film sold for Rs 67,73,824 ($81,250) per a release.

Information included within Heritage Auctions’ website reads that the slab of wood is “based on the most famous complete piece of debris salvaged from” the real-life April 1912 sinking of the RMS Titanic.

The wooden prop used in the film has long been the subject of fan debate over whether DiCaprio and Winslet’s characters could have both stayed afloat on top of the slab of wood.
