TEHRAN, Dec. 02 (MNA) – Flooding caused by heavy rains has killed almost 100 people and left some 750,000 people homeless in Somalia, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said.

The experienced duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were both not included as the Indian cricket team squad was announced for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. The squad included youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal instead with most of the other major players retaining the spots. Former Indian cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly was asked about the decision taken by the selection panel and he believes that it is time to give chances to new talent. He pointed out that the sports does not remain with someone forever and although both Rahane and Pujara have served the national side well, it is time for new batters to prove their mettle.
“At some point of time you have to play new talents. It happens, there is enormous talent in India and the team has to progress. Pujara and Rahane had enormous success for India, sport doesn’t remain with you forever,” Ganguly said at the sidelines of an event.
“You cannot be there forever, it will happen to everyone. I must thank them what they have done for Indian cricket and selectors want fresh faces, so that’s the way it is.”
Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have been long-serving servants of India in Tests. In 85 matches in the longest format, Ajinkya Rahane has 5077 runs at an average of 38.46.
He last played a Test match in July in West Indies. Cheteshwar Pujara has so far played 103 Tests and scored 7195 runs at an average of 43.60. He last played a Test in June against Australia.
According to news agency PTI, Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 89 in the World Test Championship final, has probably played his last Test along with Chesteshwar Pujara.
“The two slots that Rahane and Pujara had now belong to KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Also, Gill will bat in the middle order and Yashashvi will get a long rope,” PTI quoted a source as saying.

Zhongzhi Enterprise Group is a major lender in China.
Concerns over potential detention arise as two companies associated with the embattled Chinese shadow bank Zhongzhi Enterprise Group report losing contact with their chairpersons.Xinjiang Tianshan Animal Husbandry Bio-Engineering disclosed on Thursday that its chairman, Ma Changshui, was unreachable. A similar announcement was made on Wednesday by Dalian My Gym Education Technology, stating its chairwoman, Ma Hongying, couldn’t be contacted.
“The company is not sure of the specific reason why it cannot get in touch with Ms. Ma Hongying,” the company said in a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on Thursday.
According to CNN, Ma Changshui, 59, serves as the vice president of Zhongzhi along with his position at the animal breeding firm. He was previously the chief risk control officer of the group.
Beijing-based Zhongzhi controls nearly a dozen asset and wealth management firms. It is considered part of China’s $3 trillion “shadow banking” industry, a sector that forms an important source of finance in the country. The term usually refers to financing activity that takes place outside the formal banking system, either by banks through off-balance-sheet activities, or by non-bank financial institutions, such as trust firms.
Both companies have attempted to reach their respective chairpersons through various means, including phone calls, WeChat messages, and indirect communication with family members. However, all efforts have been unsuccessful, fueling speculation that the chairpersons may have been detained by the Chinese government.
These developments come amidst an ongoing government investigation into Zhongzhi Enterprise Group, which is suspected of engaging in irregular financial practices.

New Delhi: A meeting of floor leaders of political parties in both houses of Parliament was held on Saturday ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament, which begins on December 4.

The winter session of the Parliament is scheduled to continue till December 22.

Among the opposition leaders, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, Pramod Tiwari, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Mahua Maji were present in the meeting.
The meeting is being held a day before results of assembly elections of four states (Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana) are announced on December 3. Results of Mizoram polls will be announced on December 4.
The outcome of the polls is expected to have resonance in the Session. Several exit polls have predicted different fortunes for the parties that have contested in those states.
The all-party meeting is usually convened a day before the session begins, this time it has been preponed by a day due to the counting of votes for the assembly polls.
Speaking to ANI, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Mahua Maji said, “In our state, we are in alliance with Congress. We are hopeful that, in many states, our government will be formed. Because people can see how the work is being done by the central government. The process of privatisation is going on, pensions have been stopped. There are many reasons why people don’t want the BJP government everywhere. You have seen the results in the exit polls. We hope to form the government even in those places, the exit polls are predicting otherwise.” Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said that exit polls are not reliable and they are relying on feedback from their workers in the states.
“Exit polls are not reliable. Some are showing a different result while some are showing otherwise. We’ve feedback from workers, from states. In the four states (Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana), we are going to form the government with full majority. In Mizoram, we will form a government in alliance,” Tiwari said speaking to ANI.
Three important bills which seek to replace the IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act may be taken up for consideration during the session.
The Ethics Committee, which probed the ‘cash-for-query’ allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, is slated to lay its report in Lok Sabha on the first day of the winter session of Parliament on December 4.
