Coffee is a fruit

Did you know that coffee beans come from fruit? Coffee beans are actually seeds found in the red or yellow cherries of the coffee tree. These cherries are harvested and processed, giving us roasted and baked beans.

The origin of Espresso

Espresso, that rich and concentrated coffee shot, hails from Italy. The word “espresso” means “pressed out” in Italian, referring to the process of forcing hot water through finely ground coffee beans.

Coffee, not just for sipping

Coffee is incredibly versatile. Besides being a popular drink, it can also enhance the flavours of various dishes. Coffee-infused rubs and sauces are popular among chefs for marinating meats and adding depth to savoury recipes. Plus, coffee-flavoured desserts like tiramisu and coffee ice-cream are heavenly treats.

Caffeine: Nature’s pesticide

Caffeine, the compound responsible for that morning buzz, actually acts as a natural anaesthetic for the coffee plant. It’s their way of fending off insects, but humans have discovered its remarkable ability to enhance focus and alertness.

Coffee Varieties: Arabica and Robusta

Not all coffee is created equal. Arabica and Robusta are the two most commonly grown and consumed varieties of coffee. Arabica is popular for its mild and subtle flavour, while Robusta is known for its boldness and high caffeine content. It’s all about personal preference in the world of coffee!

Coffee in cosmetic products

Coffee is not just for drinking; It is also a popular ingredient in cosmetics. The caffeine in coffee is believed to have benefits for the skin, including cleansing, improving circulation, and acting as a natural exfoliant. You can find coffee-infused scrubs, masks, and creams that harness these beauty-enhancing properties.

'Cleanliness Drives Need Of Hour': Anurag Thakur

The Swachhta Abhiyaan in Hamirpur started from Deotsidh

Hamirpur (HP):

Cleanliness drives are the need of the hour to keep the environment neat and clean, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said on Sunday and urged people to take an active part in the ‘Swachhta Abhiyaan’.

The Swachhta Abhiyaan in Hamirpur started from Deotsidh, the seat of Baba Balak Nath, an incarnation of Lord Shiva.

Mr Thakur also took part in the Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Shaurya Jagran Yatra in Deotsidh. The yatra will crisscross the district in five days.

He hailed the Vishva Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal for taking out these yatras ahead of the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

“Lord Ram is the symbol of courtesy and virtue, a man of values and morals. Ramchandra is ‘maryada purushottam’, which means the perfect man. Lord Ram is considered to have taken birth on the earth to destroy the evil forces of the age,” he said.

Speaking at a district-level youth festival in Una on Saturday, he said India is heading towards becoming self-reliant in every sphere.

Youth festivals are being organised in every district to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. He also spoke about the Meri Maati-Mera Desh campaign.

Iran slams Sweden’s inaction on repeated desecration of Holy Qur’an

Iran has strongly condemned Sweden’s inaction to end the recurring desecration of the Holy Qur’an that insults Muslims, urging Stockholm to take “practical measures” to that aim.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani said on Sunday that the Swedish officials’ verbal denunciation and opposition to the sacrilegious acts against the holy Muslim scripture are not enough.

“Unfortunately, we still witness the repetition of desecration of Islamic sanctities in contravention of basic principles of human rights,” he said.

The remarks came one day after Salwan Momika, a Sweden-based Iraqi man, attempted to burn a copy of the Qur’an in the city of Malmo under heavy protection. He had done the blasphemous act for several times in recent months.

“Such hatred-inducing acts that insult and violate the rights and values of more than two billion Muslims have taken place amid the passive presence of the Swedish police, whose main responsibility is to maintain security and prevent the abuse of people’s rights. Of course, such acts will never be erased from the minds of the world’s freedom-seeking people.”

Police arrested three people, who were trying to prevent the Qur’an burning in Malmo, and escorted Momika out of the scene by 20 vehicles, including 10 armored ones.

“The Swedish government is expected to respond responsibly to the most obvious demand of Muslims and monotheists, by seriously adhering to fundamental principles of human rights and trying to promote ethics and peaceful coexistence among religions through practical and effective measures.”

In addition to Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands have witnessed similar instances of desecration of the Muslim holy book since the beginning of the year.

The blasphemous gestures, all of which have taken place with the go-ahead given by the countries’ respective governments and amid protection provided by their security forces, have opened the floodgates of protest across the Muslim world.

Turkey’s interior minister says an explosion near Turkey’s parliament in Ankara was a “terrorist attack” that left two police officers injured.

One of the terrorists died in the explosion and the other was “neutralized” by authorities there, Ali Yerlikaya said in a post on the social media platform X on Sunday.

Two police officers were “slightly injured” in the fire caused by the blast, he added.

Turkish media earlier reported that a loud explosion was heard near the parliament and ministerial buildings, and broadcasters showed footage of debris scattered on a street near the interior ministry. Some reports said the explosion was followed by gunfire.

Yerlikaya said a commercial vehicle carried out the bomb attack at the entrance gate of the Interior Ministry’s General Directorate of Security.

Saat 09.30 sıralarında İçişleri Bakanlığımız Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü giriş kapısı önüne hafif ticari araçla gelen 2 terörist bombalı saldırı eyleminde bulunmuştur.

Teröristlerden biri kendini patlatmış, diğer terörist etkisiz hale getirilmiştir.

The attack occurred hours before parliament was scheduled to reopen following a summer recess. All parliament members, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, were expected to be at the chamber in the afternoon around 2pm.

Media footage showed soldiers, ambulances, fire trucks and an armored vehicle gathered near the center of Turkey’s capital, where security forces have surrounded the parliament building and closed roads leading to it.

Television footage showed bomb squads working near a parked vehicle in the area.

The bombing, the first to hit Ankara in a number of years, comes almost a year after six people were killed and 81 wounded in an explosion in a busy pedestrian street in central Istanbul on Nov 13, 2022.

Resolutions under insolvency law likely to touch 300 this year: IBBI chief

The number of resolutions of stressed assets under the insolvency law is likely to touch 300 this year, IBBI Chairperson Ravi Mital said

New Delhi: The number of resolutions of stressed assets under the insolvency law is likely to touch 300 this year, IBBI Chairperson Ravi Mital said on Sunday and urged resolution professionals to speed up the cases.

Creditors have recovered around Rs 3 lakh crore through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) and the recoveries stood at more than Rs 51,000 crore last year, when the number of resolutions rose 80 per cent to 180, Mital said.

He was speaking at an event to mark the seventh annual day of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) in the national capital.

The IBBI is a key institution in implementing the IBC.

Mital said the IBC is a factor in the reduction of non-performing assets and emphasised that the law is not a recovery mechanism but a resolution mechanism.

Till August this year, 135 resolutions have happened and the number is likely to touch 300 by year-end, Mital said and asked resolution professionals to increase their speed for faster resolutions.

Corporate Affairs Secretary Manoj Govil said the government is willing to take up amendments to the IBC to make the resolution process faster.

The IBC provides a time-bound and market-linked resolution of stressed assets.

2 Killed In Chhattisgarh Accident, Injured Treated Under Phone Flashlights

The hospital has been without power for five days.

Bastar, Chhattisgarh:

Doctors at a government hospital in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district on Saturday had to treat injured patients under phone’s flashlights as there has been no power at the building for five days now following a fire caused by a short-circuit.

Two people were killed and 18 injured in a collision between a truck and a bus in Kilepal on Friday evening. The injured were rushed to the hospital, and discovered on reaching there that it was without power. Some of the injured were in critical condition and had to be sent to Dimarapal Medical College for better treatment.

The hospital ambulance had also not reached the site of the accident despite being called, and the injured were taken to the hospital in the vehicles of Chitrakoot MLA Rajman Benjamin, who lives near the hospital, and the Tehsildar of Bastanar village.

There was a lot of anger among the families of the passengers injured in the accident. They have demanded strict action against the responsible officials for this negligence. The local villagers also supported the families, and said that this is the only big hospital in the entire Bastanar block, which all the nearby villagers depend on.

MLA Rajman Benjamin said that he has directed the electricity department to arrange alternative arrangements and fix all issues at the hospital immediately.

PWD’s Electrical Engineering Department official Ajay Kumar Temburne, when asked about the issue, claimed that initial repairs were done in the building immediately after the short circuit incident.

Block Medical Officer of the area, Dr Arijit Chaudhary, has said that a letter was sent to the electricity department a month ago for repairs. He claimed the letter also pointed out that there is dampness on the walls due to rains, which could cause a short circuit. Dr Chaudhary has now written a letter to the higher officials of the department demanding a generator for the hospital.

Compromising, surrendering to enemy removed from table

Speaking at the 37th International Islamic Unity Conference (IIUC) on Sunday, Raeisi considered the issue of unity as a critical matter that its importance is increasing day by day in the Islamic World, saying that today, the concept of unity is not limited to unity only in religions or geography, but also includes unity and cohesion to protect the interests of the Islamic Ummah.

The secret behind the victory of Muslims throughout history has been their unity and cohesion centered on the Qur’an and the Prophet, he said, adding that fulfilling the foreigners’ wishes will cause regret.

Today, the domination system knows that the most important barrier against it is the Islamic Ummah, the Islamic Ummah believes in dynamism in their lives and considers stagnation as their death, the president continued.

Saying that the enemy does not want the Islamic Ummah to have unity and cohesion, Raeisi stressed that today, anyone who moves in the direction of unity is in the direction of the strategy of Islam, and if he tries to create division, he has moved in the direction of the enemy’s strategy.

Stressing that paying attention to the freedom of the al-Quds and Palestine is the most important criterion for the unity of the Islamic Ummah, he emphasized that seeking to normalize relations with the Zionist regime is a sign of regression for any government, because it is the will of foreigners, this is a regression.

He went on to say that in dealing with the enemy, the option of surrender and compromise has been removed from the table, adding that the option of resistance should be used to make the enemy retreat.

The 37th edition of the International Islamic Unity Conference (IIUC) kicked off in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Sunday.
