Fatimah Zahra; Role model for all women

On January 23, 2022, in expressing his congratulations on the occasion of the anniversary of the auspicious birth of Hazrat Fatimah Zahra (PBUH) and the celebrations of Mother’s Day and Women’s Day, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the exemplary characteristics of Hazrat Fatimah Zahra (PBUH).

“Hazrat Fatimah Zahra should be a role model in all areas, especially in the areas of social and revolutionary moves,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Regarding the Islamic viewpoint, it can be said that Islam sees individuals as “human beings” when it evaluates them on the basis of Islam and as a person, the Leader has said in another speech.

Men and women have no priority over one another. They are not different in this. The equality of men and women in terms of human and Islamic values is one of the clear principles of Islam, he further noted.

Mother’s Day and Women’s Day coincide with the birthday anniversary of Fatima Zahra.

Who Fatima Zahra is

Fatimah Zahra; Role model for all women

Fatima Zahra was the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Lady Khadija and the wife of Imam Ali (AS).

Based on the popular opinion amongst the Shia, she was born in the 5th year after bi’tha (the beginning of the prophetic mission), wikishia reported.

She had numerous social activities and political stances. The migration to Medina, the treatment of the Prophet at the Battle of Uhud, bringing supplies to the Prophet at the Battle of Khandaq, and accompanying him during the Conquest of Mecca were just some of her activities before the demise of the Prophet, the source added.

Celebration of Mother’s Day in Iran

Fatimah Zahra; Role model for all women

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

Iranians celebrate two holidays dedicated to women at once – Mother’s Day and Women’s Day. The date was chosen in honor of the daughter of Prophet Muhammad, Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (PBUH), who in the Islamic world is considered the ideal mother and role model for all Muslim women.

On Mother’s Day in Iran, many activities are held to commemorate mothers. Most children give their mothers flowers as gifts. Sometimes, men and children give their wives and mothers jewellery, such as earrings or necklaces.

In any case, each family has its own method of showing mothers gratitude on this day. Some families treat their mothers to dinner at a restaurant, while others call their mothers on the phone or send a postcard to show their affection. What is certain is that all involve a display of gratitude toward mothers.

But during the Covid-19 pandemic era, Mother’s Day was observed across the country under the shadow of Covid-19; therefore most people preferred to make video calls to remember and thank their mothers for all their kindness and affection.

On January 23, 2022, on the occasion of Mother’s Day in Iran, a commemoration ceremony was held in the presence of a large number of elderly mothers and others seeking aid at Kahrizak in Tehran, Iran Daily reported.

By the way, on this special day, people want their mother to know that they owe her everything and although they failed to realize it at times or show gratitude they do have our committed love for their mother and they know that even if they do not express it she can feel their affections.

Father says Ashwin was being humiliated; off-spinner plays it down as “dad comment”

I too came to know at the last minute. The way in which he gave that (retirement), there could be many reasons. Only Ashwin knows, maybe humiliation

Father says Ashwin was being humiliated; off-spinner plays it down as “dad comment”

R Ashwin Returns Home After Retirement Announcement

Chennai: Just-retired R Ashwin’s father Ravichandran kicked up a controversy on Thursday by claiming that “humiliation” could have been a reason for his son’s decision to call it quits but the veteran off-spinner made light of the “dad comment”, blaming it on lack of media training.

Ashwin dropped a bombshell on Wednesday when he announced his retirement from top-flight cricket at the end of the drawn third Test against Australia in Brisbane. He flew back to Chennai the same evening and was welcomed warmly by his family and friends here on Thursday morning.

Although Ashwin described his decision as an “instinctive” call that was on his mind for a while, his father raised eyebrows by hinting at other factors, including humiliation.

“I too came to know at the last minute. The way in which he gave that (retirement), there could be many reasons. Only Ashwin knows, maybe humiliation,” Ravichandran told ‘CNN News18’.

However, Ashwin later tried to douse the fire, saying his father was not “media trained” and his comment should not be taken seriously.

“My father isn’t media trained, dey father inneda ithelaam (what’s all this, father). I never thought you will follow this rich tradition of ‘dad statements’,” he quipped after the comment became a viral social media trend.

“Request you all to forgive him and leave him alone,” Ashwin wrote on X.

Earlier, Ravichandran said the family was expecting Ashwin’s retirement for some time because “humiliation was going on”, though he didn’t reveal the exact nature of it.

“The sudden change – retirement – gave us a shock. We were expecting it because humiliation was going on. How long he can tolerate all those things? Probably, he would have decided on his own,” he said.

“It’s his wish and desire, I cannot interfere in that. The way he gave his retirement, one part I was very happy, another part not happy because he should have continued,” he added.

Ashwin had told the media in Brisbane that he has a “bit of punch left” in him, hinting at reasons more than mere cricketing.

Washington Sundar was picked ahead of the seasoned off-spinner, who has 537 Test wickets, for the first game in Perth. The 38-year-old found a place in the eleven for the Pink Ball Test at Adelaide.

However, Ashwin was again benched for the third Test at the ‘Gabba’ as Ravindra Jadeja started in that match.

India skipper Rohit Sharma revealed that he had a chat with Ashwin on the sidelines of the Perth Test and convinced him to stay for the day-night game.

“…this was on his mind and there are obviously a lot of things that went behind it. When I arrived in Perth, this was a chat we had and I somehow convinced him to stay for that pink ball Test match,” Rohit had revealed in his press conference on Wednesday.

“Then after that it just happened so that he felt that if I (Ashwin) am not needed right now in the series, I am better off saying goodbye to the game,” he added.

Ashwin will continue to play club cricket and will be turning up for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL next year.

New Delhi: India is projected to have 1.2 billion smartphone connections by 2030, with half of the users on 5G smartphones, according to a new report.

According to global mobile network body GSMA, the country is projected to have over 641 million 5G subscribers by 2030, growing at 49 per cent. “India will see an unprecedented growth in the number of 5G mobile subscribers, and an explosion of data usage in the next six years,” according to GSMA Intelligence projections.

This stupendous growth in 5G subscribers will also lead to a huge expansion of data consumption, impelling Indian telcos to make large investments. The data consumption per subscriber is likely to grow at a CAGR of 15 per cent between 2023 and 2029, to reach 68 GB per month per subscriber in India. In the Asia-Pacific region, India and Indonesia are uniquely positioned to leverage digitalisation to drive economic resilience, job creation, and innovation.

According to the latest GSMA ‘Mobile Economy Asia Pacific 2024 Report’, India is projected to have 1.2 billion smartphone connections by 2030, while Indonesia is expected to reach 387 million connections by the same year, said the organisation.

Furthermore, mobile technologies and services generated 5.3 per cent of GDP across the APAC region in 2023, contributing $880 billion in economic value, and supporting approximately 13 million jobs across the region. “India and Indonesia are not just the largest democracies in the APAC region; they are the future engines of digital and economic growth for the region. By fostering partnerships and collaboration, we are laying the foundation for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable digital future for both nations, said Mats Granryd, Director General, GSMA. Meanwhile, the widespread availability of spectrum for 5G is likely to contribute about $27 billion to India’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030, according to a recent GSMA report.

The organisation, which represents mobile networks worldwide, said the upper 6 GHz band must also be part of the spectrum roadmap of the country. The launch of 5G has emerged as a significant catalyst for the growth in data usage.

Spanish PM calls for global recognition of Palestine

Sánchez made the remarks during his participation in the Socialist International Conference, held in Rabat, Morocco, from Friday to Sunday. Speaking at the event, he emphasized the importance of achieving a “just and comprehensive peace” in the West Asia region, stressing that global efforts must be unified to address the escalating crises in various regions, particularly in Palestine, WAFA reported.

He also called for ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent state, with al-Quds as its capital.

He also highlighted the urgent need to end the suffering of the Palestinian people, calling for an end to the blockade and restrictions on civilian life.

Israel waged a genocidal war on the besieged Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian Hamas Resistance group carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Israel has imposed a complete siege on the densely populated territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

Konstas recieved his maiden call-up from the national team as host Australia announced their Test squad for the remaining two matches of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which are set to be played in Melbourne and Sydney. “I’m super confident. Just backing my skills, I have done all the hard work. Just another game, I guess, and trying to keep it simple. As a kid you have always dreamt of the moment, and it is very rare, getting your baggy green. So it’s a huge honour if I do get in,” he added.
