Zhiyu Kong the chief of the Middle East Bureau of the Chinese Wen Hui Daily in Tehran made the remarks in an interview with Mehr News Agency correspondent on the sidelines of the 24th edition of Iran Media Expo underway in Tehran.
How do you evaluate the atmosphere of the Iran Media Expo this year?
Well, you know this exhibition is very good. Getting familiar with Iran is a very very important task for Chinese and other countries’ media groups.
The mutual understanding between different countries especially between friendly countries like China and Iran is more and more important and therefore mutual understanding must be improved.
So this day the exhibition is a good opportunity for us to know each other.
What do you think about the double standards of Western media regarding news coverage of the catastrophic human rights situation in Gaza?
Well, some Western countries emphasize the so-called freedom of the press many times .. but do you believe it? no, we don’t believe it.
Some Western media are shifted by political and complicated factors.
After the Gaza war, we wrote many commentary articles independently and we criticized Western countries’ policies many times for pretending to defend freedom and human rights.
What Western media is doing is protecting political and military hegemonism.
Regarding Gaza news, what we are doing is supporting justice for not only Palestinians but also for all people.
What measures China has taken so far at international organizations like the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)?
China is a very big country that enjoys an influence on political issues, and international and regional affairs.
For China, we are friends with all countries. We are not a country that starts a war, we support peace. We support that every country should have a table for peaceful negotiation.
All countries can solve problems themselves. We oppose some countries’s actions and policies to interfere in the affairs of other countries and regional issues.
So China is fulfilling its responsibility to make the world more peaceful and beautiful. We are trying to make the whole Middle East more peaceful.
