Kothagudem: Three persons, including a three-year-old child, died while four others were injured in separate road accidents in the district on Wednesday.
In an accident near Sai Baba Temple at Indira Nagar Colony in Paloncha mandal, a speeding car hit a truck parked by the roadside from behind, killing the child, Balla Aadhya, on the spot. The child’s grandparents, Chennakeshavulu and Padmavathi, suffered serious head injuries, while her mother, Balla Havya, and the car driver, Krishna, suffered minor injuries.
Chennakeshavulu and Padmavathi were first taken to Paloncha Government Hospital and later shifted to Government General Hospital in Kothagudem for better treatment. Havya, who lives in Vizag in Andhra Pradesh, had come to her mother’s place in Madhira in Khammam, and they were going to Bhadrachalam to have darshan of the deities at Bhadradri Temple.
In another incident near Ailapuram bridge in Pinapaka mandal, two youths, Dharaju Kishore (27) and Batta Prashanth (25) of Kamalapuram village in Manuguru mandal, died in a collision between a lorry and the two-wheeler on which they were travelling. The accident occurred while the duo was returning home on their two-wheeler after attending a family function.
