Apple Inc has promised a software update that will fix the excess radiation issue of iPhone 12 handsets, the French government said today. Digital Minister Jean Noel Barrot said Apple told him the update will be implemented in a few days.
France had asked Apple to stop selling iPhone 12, claiming the model emits electromagnetic radiation higher than the European Union standards. They had also said the issue could be fixed with a software update.
The French concern resounded with countries across Europe with Apple coming up with a prompt solution.
The country’s radiation watch will rapidly test the software update to check if the radiation level falls within the permissible limit and then the sales ban, the digital ministry said.
